  1. There should be all the gangs that are actually in NYC, including little drug-dealing gangs that aren't properly established. But territories should be more realistic - you kill guys in that area and that's it, they're gone, no return - gang growth is probably quite small and I can't imagine a gang has more than say 100 members in total, so once you've killed them it should be the end of them. I'd also love to see the ability to turn gangs into the police, say like you get a mission where you know where a few kilos of coke the yardies have in a warehouse - you should have the option of going and nabbing it for yourself to sell or go to the police to get a reward and the yardie gang would be seriously damaged by it. I'd also like to see some gang members run away from conflict (which basically means they leave the gang and aren't a problem) if you're slaughtering them and they don't want to die (you saw that a bit in Scarface).

  2. I always thought the people on the boxarts were gang bosses or enemies like on GTA3 you had Misty, the guy that originally helped you out when you broke out of the prison van, that fat mafia boss. GTA Vice you had vincent and that boss with the boat (i think), and SA you had Sweet, that hispanic guy that went out with CJs sister, the girl from the car driving school place in san fierro (again i think), so I think they will have something to do with it. To me that girl from the magazine cover for GTAIV looks like a Carribean gang boss, maybe the Haitians? Or a femme fatale involved in gangs.

  3. Maybe ferries and cargo ships could sail around for a change and they might run you over from time to time or suck you into the engine? You could even introduce raiding cargo ships (pirate style!) :D Or if you try to swim up to the statue of liberty, security guys shoot at you because they think you're a terrorist! But yes cold water is a good idea especially around NYC, you could hyperventilate and start to loose health if you stay in the water for too long like in winter and autumn.

  4. I think they'll do a quick and easy route for the peds:

    - They'll be able to sense a wall or objects and other peds and not walk into them and get stuck like morons

    - A wider variety of speech

    - Few more reactions to situations, similar to how hitman did it I reckon

    - Few more speech choices with them

And that's about it for peds! (in my opinion)

As for cops and enemies, all I wish for is no stupid running into things, and when you shoot them in the chest or head once they die, in the other parts two shots they pretty much die, regardless of how important they are, then I'd be happy!

  5. On demos in general, I think they are a good idea for most games, so you know what it's like before buying it (cheap on ebay) - but for GTAIV or any open-city game like it, it's not really a good idea in my opinion, it'd look stupid and be totally unnecessary because everybody is going to buy it anyway!

  6. 7900GTX 512MB over here :D I want another one for SLi but with the same money i could probably buy an X360 to play GTAIV on!

Btw, use xe.com if you wanna make a currency conversion, or roughly it's about £0.66 = 1 Euro = $1.32

  7. Gycu, the last game I've seen with snow that affected gameplay was Midtown Madness (in Chicago), which was okay but nothing too special.

I just don't want to see the same amount of snow on small side-roads and alleyways as we have on the main roads, it has to vary, you know? Which would depend entriely on how "roads" are defined in the engine i guess, so they have a variable for each road which basically sets the rate at which snow will settle there. I guess we'll find out soon enough, but no screenshots of any snow or even rain yet so i don't think they've done weather yet!

  8. People have to realise, snow isn't just about making the ground look white, the difficulties that need to be addressed if it's to be done right:

    - Snow will need to build up on the ground, objects, and sides of buildings, taking into account wind

    - Vehicle engines may not perform normally

    - Car physics will of course be affected, the ground will be slippery, you may loose control on a slope or just glide into stuff if it's ice

    - Roads in more use will have less snow building up and different physics

    - An entirely new sound archive for car tires and walking sounds

    - "Steam" has to come from people's mouths

    - There is a point of snow depth at which cars won't work at all, or people may not be able to walk

    - People would slip around or fall over :D

You see, it really isn't that easy and would put a heavy loading on the console, maybe too much of a loading given how vast GTAIV is!

  9. To the guy that talks like an 8 year old, the civilians in GTA3 wore winter clothing as well,, but there was no snow there. Snow is a hard thing to program, and as yet, it hasn't been confirmed by any actual preview, so it's currently not too likely, but perhaps it's something they're working on now? I sure hope so, everybody wants snow, but you don't have any evidence yet, and if it does turn out they've included snow, we won't care that you guessed it.

  10. Please read through ALL the ideas above before casting your vote, and don't vote for the same one as your first second and third choice (duh).

The above ideas were all contributed by members in the 'Minigames' thread, so now we can see which minigame concepts are the most popular.

    Happy voting! :D

  11. Urbanoutlaw - I think they've already announced that you can break into cars and hotwire them in the game, rather than just getting in and magically having the key, a good feature.

right, I think we've got some good ideas here so I'll make the poll on it.

  12. Raptor, the PC version will most likely be out around Summer 2008, a long time after the release in October 2007 on PS3 and XBOX360, but when it does eventually come out on PC it will probably require a good system - dual core CPU, at least 1GB ram, maybe 8GB HDD at least, and 512MB geforce 7/8 series graphics card or more.
