  1. Artur - damn right! And foosball is a brilliant idea, I'd like to see ping-pong as well - a real hard man's game :D

Jace, I don't think Nintendo would agree! But I wouldn't want the originals in there, it'd use a lot of disk space and at the same time you'd be bored after like 5-10 minutes - but if they made sort of very small joke versions that could be fun! Basically most of the awesome flash games from newgrounds but in GTAIV arcade machines would make me very happy!

RaDION, lol I think that would have worked in SA in the redneck places but not in New York, although, thinking about it, they could have burger competitions in fast food restaurants - like a race against each other to eat as many burgers or a giant burger (you just press two buttons a lot but can't go over a "puke" level) - the bonus is you get cash, the downside is you get fat!

  2. Oh I agree with you all that GTAIV will be the better game, by far! But personally I'd love a fully-realistic NYC with all the interactivity and fun of GTA.

Means that those of us without the ..... "privilege" of living there get to experience it just the same, without ever having to get shot for real! :D

  3. I'd like to hear your ideas and current evidence of any minigames that could be in GTAIV (please don't go over ones that currently exist in SA)

Once we've got a load I'll make a poll so we can see which are most popular.

    Some ideas for now:

    - Bring gouranga back!!

    - Wider variety of arcade games

    - Baseball-batting parking meters from a car/truck driven by AI

    - Shopping trolley racing (kinda like boblseigh down a big hill racing someone else - you run with the trolley, get in, then you steer by leaning)

  4. Thanks for all the positive feedback :D

One thing though, it really wouldn't be as easy as you think. Stopping a mugger for example isn't the same as killing him, if you killed him you might make it worse than if you'd just knocked him out. But really, when you're playing GTA, you come across opportunities to kill a lot more than opportunities to help the cops, it'd be difficult to keep your rating high, and probably near impossible to keep it at 100. The only way to keep it very high, would be to basically play it as a cop-game, but the storyline, and the way we all like to play, is going to make that extremely difficult. It's just one part of the game that annoys me, when you kill a mugger and the cops come after you, for example (obviously because you couldn't knock someone out in previous GTAs), to me it's a way of improving the AI, with a very simple method that doesn't require ridiculously intelligent cops.

  5. I've recently been playing True Crime NYC, and I wonder how the two versions of Mahattan will compare. Manhattan is the core of NYC - where most of the action happens, and is of great importance to any game set in New York.

True Crime uses GPS mapping to give a near-perfect representation of the road system on Manhatten (Manhatten is the only part of NYC in True Crime) it means you have to drive for a long time even at high speed to get to the other end of the island, I can honestly say it creates one seriously vast and atmospheric game. I'm not saying True Crime have done too well - very very very few variety of speech, poor conversion to PC, few models and a few stupid bugs, but the overall effect is an unbelievable vastness that really draws you into the game.

As for GTAIV, well we haven't been told exactly how accurate it will be, certainly nothing on GPS mapping, but will it be the same size as True Crime? I sure hope so. In reality, San Andreas was huge, and if GTAIV is going to be that big as they claim, then there's every chance of a realistic Manhattan.

If anybody has any evidence that GTAIV's Alonquin is going to be the same size as True Crime's Manhattan, then please show it here, I'd love to know what they've got planned.

  6. I've always liked the idea of "gang respect", basically the type that we saw in GTA 2. The more missions you did for one gang, the more respect you'd have from them. The more of one gang you'd kill, you'd win favour with the other gangs until eventually the gang you're pissing off tries to kill you.

However, I'd like to also see this concept added to the police.

So for example, do you remember in GTA3 and VC when you can chase down muggers and in VC you'd get a small reward? I'd like to see GTAIV have a system whereby the more you help the police, they will have a greater respect for you. The more you annoy them, the more they'll come after you. Here's an idea of the scoring, lets say it ranges from -100 to 100, where -100 is they will pull out all resources to kill you, 0 is they don't know you at all, and 100 is they love you and will never arrest you.

    Stop a mugger: +2

Help stop a car in a police chase: +8

    Stop a terrorist: +15

    Assault a random guy: -1

    Kill a random guy: -10

    Kill a cop: -50

You can also do missions for the police in a sort of corrupt-vigilante way.

Basically, if you're good, the cops won't be as likely to arrest you for a crime. It would probably eliminate the wanted star system, or affect how long it takes to not be wanted, so if you've got a police respect of +30, they might "forget" about a two or three star wanted level after a few ingame-hours.

The idea of terrorists is that it works in the same way as muggers like in GTA3 - except hopefully with more than just 2 models. If you see a dodgey looking-guy on the streets of new york, and say he starts opening his jacket (because he has a belt-bomb) you can shoot him and win respect from police, or someone planting a bomb somewhere for example.

I'd like you know what you all think, so I included a poll.

  7. Personally I'm hoping for more..."realistic" easter eggs. My ideas would be:

    - Photos in viewpoints

    - Drug packets hidden in dark dangerous places

    - Government secrets hidden in or on and around government buildings and hotspots

    - Weapons hidden IN boxes or something, rather than just floating around randomly

  8. Artur, I think that's True Crime NYC - sometimes you hit cars and drivers flies out and it says "always wear your seatbelt!" ha, it's quite clever!

Mafia had a similar camera view if you remember, on the hood (basically where the windscreen wipers are), I think that's what they mean not an actual in-car cockpit view. But personally my favourite is the behind and up a bit view of GTA3, it just looks swankier.

  9. thegtaguy, it's normal for computers that ae connected to the internet at some point, to constantly run like hell. Mine does, I run the internet on my laptop which is a:

    AMD Turion 64 1.8GHz

    512MB RAM

    ATI Radeon XPress 200M 64MB

    Windows XP

And it runs like death, it's terrible - and the reason? Because of the anti-spyware, anti-virus, and firewall software, believe it or not. If you want to run a computer with the internet, to keep it safe you HAVE to have this security which means that anything you open, anything you click on, you do, is checked by whatever security software you have (for example, avast scans files that are selected or used automatically), they also run background processes - avast often runs a virus recovery database which remembers how files on your computer were before any potential viruses. It's kind of crazy, but that's how it is nowadays. My way around it, is to use a PC that is never ever connected to the internet for gaming, and a laptop for anything involving the internet and one hell of a lot of patience.

However if someone has a handy list of "things to do to make sure your pc runs optimally" I'd love to see it, just to make sure I'm getting the best out of it.

  10. lol, what on earth do people think discs do? Blue-ray stores more, yes, but I imagine it has a slower seek time than DVDs, just as DVDs have a slower seek time than CDs. So if anything, it'd stream slower, I guess that's why the consoles need hard drives nowadays. But it doesn't matter what can fit on a blue-ray - the game is going to be the same on both consoles, they already confirmed that, which means it'll be the size of a DVD to work with the Xbox360, which will be the same size as the PC. In short: the disk isn't going to affect the quality in any way, it's the same game on both consoles, except on PC, the texture size will probably be the same if they fill up the DVD.

  11. Even tho I am a PC gamer and I have all GTA Games on PC and the Stories verisons on PSP, I got a huge feeling that it will not come to PC, due to the fact if I remeber properly that Rockstar did say when they were releasing SA to PC they did say that it was going to be the 'Last' GTA Game for the PC.

But I won't be buying GTA IV for the xbox but I will be buying a PS3 soon and in october I will be buying GTA IV for the PS3 coz it will have excellent graphics.

Thank God for the Blu-Ray System

I don't recall them saying that at all!
