witsalldonebefor
I really need to know the scaling for GTA 3. Basically what I'm doing is making GTA 3 in Valve's Source engine(Half-Life 2). And I need to know what the units equal, like with Source 1 unit = 1 inch. And without knowing the scaling then it could be way to big, or way to small. If I mess up one thing I would have to edit a lot. So I really need this info. Any help would be amazing. Thanks.
Chris
Sorry I can't help, have no idea how to find that out either. What you're doing sounds like a huge project, why are you doing it? And just by yourself or is there a team? Good luck anyway.
tilly
i guess you could try to manually figure out using moo mapper or something. you would probably have to convert some HL2 engine maps to moo mapper too if you want to compare.
Jared
I'd say the map files would give you a hint, but you'd need some full on algebra skills to find the exact value.
Gycu
Good luck man ! Maybe you should mail R* and ask them or at least to give you a hint ... dunno if they'll respond ...
witsalldonebefor
Well, I found out what it is. 1 unit in all 3D GTA games = 1 Meter. I found out that the streets are 20 unit's in total. So now I have what I need to get the road and stuff started. And then I'm going to work in. Yeah, it's a 1 man project for now. And later I'm going to need a good mapper, for displacement. Thanks. So what's the math formula/operation for this? Any trigonometry stuff needed? Of course you need some brain-mashing for this calculation and for your virtual surveying; good luck for being a geodetic guy...just joking!
