PIPO
Was the story of GTA IV strong enough compared to GTA SA?!! I really think they could have made the story stronger. Especially the links between the characters were so loose and story was being completed through many different threads that had almost no connection and intersection. The only good link was Dimitri which was so predictable. That's my idea though, tell me yours.
Mpilk901
I thought it was great. The protagonist had a proper background to him and it made me feel a connection to the story. That's always considered a strong point for me.
davesta
I think that the story was a little loose and it could've been longer and perhaps a little more focused (especially the whole mafia strand with Ray's and Pegorino's missions) but overall I think the story was pretty good. Believeability was something that helped a lot, and made the game stand out from previous GTA games. I also think that Niko is easily the best protaganist from any GTA game. Some of the story was pretty clever too. I really wasn't expecting to have to make the choice on whether or not to kill Darko , and the way that the story was written really made me think morally about some of the choices you have to make. Spitfire369
I`m a little pissed off! The other protagonists in GTA3-SA earned Casinos, Car shops, a big fortune, but what`s about Niko?? I was finnishing the Game with about 600 grand!
TM™
It's suppose to be New York mate, unlike GTA 3 to San Andreas, it's based on a more realistic time, so earning like Millions, well it wouldn't be hard on the previous titles, but this seems realistic, so it is a challenge earning more money. Ivan
Way better than SA, fuck that stupid ghetto story.
davesta
You will have easily earned around 1mil by the time that you reach 100% (I'm at 97.5% and have around $1,160,000). Besides, $600,000 is more money than you will ever be able to spend anyway. Although I loved the casino heist in San Andreas, and the fun of some of the less realistic missions, so I would love to see San Andreas modelled in such great detail like Liberty City, with a new story line that was a little less repetitive and a little less realistic. Thomas.
I loved GTA IV and I agree with Ivan, it was well better than the Ghetto themed story of San Andreas. Compared to San Andreas, most of the missions were longer in GTA IV and more complexed tasks were involved. The Bank Heist mission is my example, in San Andreas you basically just walked away from the Casino without a wanted level which I thought was really unrealistic. In GTA IV, you had to get through multiple blockades of cops and go in the subway system before escaping through the Maintenance Access. Even then you still had police chasing you. But, I agree that the missions did start to get confusing when you started doing missions for the Alderney Mafia, the Pegorinos. I think the series will resemble the GTA III era where GTA III had the least quality missions as the map was the main focus for the game, this was the same for GTA IV so if we see some future games I think they might just be better than the GTA IV storyline. It's always 'drive to deal, deal goes wrong, kill some people, escape police'. In San Andreas, the tasks were different, if not more complex or realistic. The Bank Heist mission is my example, in San Andreas you basically just walked away from the Casino without a wanted level which I thought was really unrealistic. I agree, the heist itself was a little unrealistic (especially when you're supposed to parachute to the helicopter, but it's physically impossible, and you end up with no police chasing you). However, I was thinking more of the planning that was involved, that lead up to the heist. If there had been some more planning for the bank robbery, it would've been more fun. I have to admit, I did love that mission though.
Sabin
I thought the story was engaging at first , but then it kinda drifted off and got a little "loose" at about the point where michelle takes the coke, and get you do the those jobs for the FIB or whatever. GeOrGe_DrIfTeR
I think san andreas story is NOTHING compared to this. Story in GTA IV is so long, so mysterious... san andreas is too short, but I like that gangsta style anyway GTA IV f-ing rulez!
Blur
San Andreas is way more longer than GTA IV though, when comparing the storylines. I can easily finish IV in less than 24 hours, while in SA the missions were a lot togher and all the land you had to cover. Ex: Las Venturas Desert, Los Santos countryside, ect. I also loved how GTA is getting more emotional, hope the next one will have more moral choices and shit.
