I think they're going to be using different time zones. It was rumoured back in March as well. Apparently it'll include at least 3 different timelines, including the end of WW2, the Vietnam War, and the Cold War, as well as at least one space mission judging by the astronaut. There's also talk of gameplay on 'Operation Nimrod' by the SAS, which took place in 1980's London - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Embassy_Siege. As for multiplayer, dedicated servers will probably return, as will custom killstreaks, and they said they'll remove some of the more annoying perks like Commando.

EDIT: I missed out some screengrabs, see them all here - http://www.igarchive.com/redirect/?nid=98348

See a HD version of the trailer and subsequent analysis here - http://www.gametrailers.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops/13099. It breaks things down in the usual Gametrailers way. I could have sworn it said dual Steyr Augs at one point, going all Rambo on us now.

YES epic win XD

they need a minigun lol. i dun care if it makes the game unbalanced (which it wouldnt, if you make it that they cant run with it, and it takes a couple sec to heat up you're very vulnerable to snipers and other stuff.

.... Why is there a fucking astronaut? What's that got to do with war?

Three words - Death from above.

As long as they still have my Dragonov I'm in.

When I saw the astronaut pic, I thought that this COD game is gonna be fucking awesome! :awexd:

Sorry to ruin your hopes but actually, it's not an astronaut according to

(at 5:15), they're say that it's just a high altitude flight suit for a spy & recon aircraft. That's not an astronaut like what people are thinking.

OK so, I'm cutting and pasting a lot of new info revealed in X360, which has since been posted on almost every site ever.

The first details on Call of Duty: Black Ops are in, via new issues of Official Xbox Magazine and PC Zone.

As reported, Black Ops is a Cold War-era deniable-ops shooter that tackles Vietnam, the frosty Russian Mountains, the Loation undergrounds and everything in between. Developer Treyarch hopes the locations will inject some much needed variety into the CoD series.

OXM describes Black Ops as "unbelievably gorgeous", with snazzier smoke and fire effects, better draw distance, more convincing character animation and "incredible" lighting in some scenes.

You play as a member of the Studies and Operations Group (SOG), a pocket of CIA-sanctioned forces whose methods are unconventional and actions deniable.

SOG missions the mags saw include rappelling out of a helicopter into Hue City to verify that the Russians are setting up shady backroom deals, and a stealthy operation in the Ural Mountains called 'WMD' which has you repelling down the side of a ridge, Modern Warfare style.

Another level, which kicks off with a helicopter crash into the Huong River, has you swimming and diving through the murky waters - with only your knife for company.

New weapons include the Crossbow, which can be used for both stealthy kills and an explosive tip secondary fire shot, the M202 rocket launcher and an incendiary shotgun.

Of course as you'd have seen in the debut trailer Black Ops also features pilotable vehicles, including the SR-71 Blackbird (which has you guiding troops on the ground past guard patrols - a bit like Modern Warfare's own air missions) and the helicopter, which OXM stresses is fully controllable - you even have helicopter-on-helicopter gun fights.

As far as multiplayer goes Treyarch is staying quiet, though vehicles will return (but "not the way you remember them"), some kind of co-op mode will feature and increased character customisation is promised.

Dedicated servers are guaranteed as well.

Activision has revealed that although Call of Duty: Black Ops will feature dedicated servers on the PC, the service won't be free.

The publisher has partnered with GameServers.com, which will exclusively provide the dedicated PC servers for Black Ops.

"We are extremely excited about this unprecedented relationship with Activision to offer dedicated servers exclusively for Black Ops," said David Aninowsky, GameServers CEO.

"We are placing a great amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure that we exceed any and all expectations," he added.

Gameservers is currently taking pre-orders and has the 18-player ranked servers priced at £9.99 a month, while the unranked servers are available for 66p per player.

The pre-order site boasts instant server activation on release day, no setup fees, cancel anytime, 5-day refund guarantee and 24 player max (Unranked), 18 player max (Ranked)servers.

Fukin Activision.. Always knew that there was a catch..

Edit: Why is my post showing up all broken?

Edit 2: Nm, Didn't really read the article right. Damn CVG exaggerating stuff.

It's basically common knowledge that dedicated servers have to have a fee attached to them. It's applied to numerous COD games in the past including WAW and COD4, and even games like Bad Company 2 require a fee to use dedicated servers, so Activision are just following business practices. That news came out in mid September so thought it was common knowledge.

2 new vids today, one of a new multiplayer level, called 'Jungle' but it might be a placeholder name, and also a video of a single player mission called 'Kowloon', and there's also a 60 second trailer for single player which aired during an NFL game recently:
