westgate
Hey, I have a desktop that I mainly use for gaming and whatnot. But, whenever I turn it on, it gets to the WindowsXP logo with the little loading bar underneath, and just shuts off and reboots itself, over and over again. I'm suspecting a virus, but I don't know what virus/anything I'd be able to use against it. So yea, if anyone could help out, that'd be appreciated. tommy vercetti guy
Reformat your computer? It makes the computer go back to like it was the first time you started it up, so you lose everything, but atleast you can start up the computer properly. westgate
I've done that before. But this thing seems to keep crashing on me.
Steven
Take it to your local computer place and have them take a look at it.
Slayer
If you go on the internet on it, it's probably a virus. format your disc and re-install the windows. Backup your documents if you don't want to lose them.
mjforever
I just helped my aunt with the same thing. Her harddrive had a bad spot, find out which brand harddrive it is ex. maxtor, western digital, seagate, etc, and go to their website and download their bootable utlities disk, run the full (the longer of the two) test, chances are that there is a bad sector on the disk. That dosen't always mean that the disk is trash, you may be able to do a low level format, but you will loose EVERYTHING and you will have to re-install everything. If it is a virius, I think you can boot from a norton AV disk, and that might fix it. also try to hit down the F8 key right after the POST screen, when the choice comes up choose to boot into safe mode (If it gets there) try that stuff maybe your problem can be fixed before you just re-install. Sometimes that works, but if there is a disk, or virus problem, it will most likely pop up again, if you just re-install windows If it does come down to re-installing windows, boot from the windows disk, and do a format, then reinstall a fresh copy, That will elimanite the virus issue
Righty
If it is a bad disc, I'm not saying it is or it isn't, it would be best to buy a new hard drive. If there's one problem, there's certainly more to come. If it is a bad disc, I'm not saying it is or it isn't, it would be best to buy a new hard drive. C.O.D
You can actually choose not to use the 'bad sector' of the disk. But that would waste some (bits) of space. My old computer used to run like crap when I play Call of Duty or GTA. But then, the technicians chose not to use the 'bad sectors' of the disk, and it ran like hot knife through butter.
