Acctully it was free (sort of - we pay 5.99 monthly for cover) OK, I checked in the case ealier and being 13, I decided that the best thing to do would be to pull wires at random and see what happens . Anyway, I found that if I unclip the wire (It's 4 wires, 2 yellow and 2 black, all bunched together) by the fan, the computer doesn't cut out - I haven't tested it with the moniter though . I plugged it back in though because I wasn't sure what it was for. I think somthing must be short circuiting in my computer (because my laptop is coming off of the same power and it's running fine, touch-wood.) It might just be a case of my computer is broken, and "coincidently" might be dropped down the stairs for insurance money to buy a better PC. *But for now I'll just go for a bath while IMing my friends. Got to bring an extention cord with me though because my laptops nearly out of power . Horray for stupid teenage girls who electrcute themselves by accident in the bath! yer the wire you describe is the one to power the CPU... llama you were right. yeah check the cpu is properly in (no reason that it shouldnt be unless youve been fking around inside the case) otherwise maybe your mobo or power supply is fked. im leaning towards PSU. similar situation ive seen and its been PSU. buy a new one for like $30

pretty much all will run GTA SA except maybe the atom ones. GTA4 no chance in hell on any of those if you wanna do really good gaming , desktop is the way to go. better performance for your dollar.

Press F8 as soon as your computer turns on , as quick and as many times as you can, until the OS selection thingy comes up. Choose Safe mode with command prompt. Then when command prompt opens, type this command format c: /fs:ntfs then when thats complete, you'll have no OS. after that, get a XP cd, or a ubuntu live CD. install one of those. Or even windows 7 will work. Life will be much easier after this seriously though, umm, what is the thing they're saying that doesnt work. perhaps you dont have admin rights / appropriate permissions to do this.

ok with all this OS discussion ummm any ideas on how (a guide would be nice) to install Linux (ubuntu) onto a external hard drive and boot off it. i already know my laptop supports booting from USB so yeah. just the .. installing to USB hard drive is a bit of a tricky one for me. i dont wanna fuk it up and accidently overwrite windows or something.

i noticed, when you turn OFF uac. it makes the computer like 5 or 10 seconds faster at opening shit. example: vista basic was installed on these base spec laptops that i was working with, it took like 20 sec to trigger the message to allow/deny MYOB to open. we turn off UAC, it opens in like 5sec.

Still, benchmarks prove it's about as fast as Vista.. It starts up programs a little faster, but the programs aren't being run any faster. Games may just gain 2 fps, no big deal. Really, I don't know why people love 7 so much, but hate Vista.. Because out of personal use, Vista has given me nothing but trouble. Windows 7, however, has only posed one problem and it was Linksys with the problem, not 7. The only problem I had on 7 was that I couldn't connect to the internet because of my out-dated wireless cards. Oh, and about gaming, my machine is hardly good enough to run Portal with XP((I have to lower just about every graphical setting)). When I started it up on 7, it ran beautifully, with high settings((automatically set by the game)), and didn't lag in the least((it's unplayable with those settings with my XP setup)). I don't even want to attempt to run Vista on this machine, because I doubt I'd do much more than rip my hair out from frustration. I highly doubt it would run faster than XP, even. exactly what i was gonna say. vista has given me and my friends so much shit (im always being asked to fix shit argh lol) that i have totally thrown it away in consideration for an OS, even before 7 was coming out. i wouldve just put XP, probably will and dualboot with 7 or something because vista is just terrible. first thing, UAC, as if that doesnt drive you insane. "are you sure you wanna right click on this object?" "yes" "you need administrative permission to continue...allow?" so you can turn it off sure, but, why include such a dumb thing that just gives everyone the shits. and so many issues in vista , printers n stuff not working, games not working (eg san andreas WONT find a save file and its in the right place). Mac ≠ Gaming. That's all I have to say on that. You CAN play games on a Mac but, if you wanna game on a computer, don't get Mac.

OSX is over-rated, yes, but that doesn't mean it sucks. Windows under-rated? AHA. Not by a long shot. All sorts of little Microfags want to shout that Vista is the greatest thing to happen since electricity, and how it's the only OS that supports "super computers with 50 gbs of RAM!".... Running OSX on a PC and trying to use it like a PC wouldn't prove it's over-rated, it would prove you're trying to use it in a way different than how it is used. It's still highly respected by people who do serious digital art. Imaging, music, video, etc. Also, you find it confusing because you grew up using a PC. A person who grows up with a Mac finds Windows to be absolutely perplexing. Neither of these validates saying either one sucks. All sorts of other fags that want to shout how horrible Vista is. I haven't read anything negative about OSX and many do live with the idea in their head that OSX is some expensive, elitist, ultra-user-friendly OS, which is obivously isn't. Again, I have used OSX on a PC. About 80% of all the time I've spent using OSX has in fact been on an iMac. Before I actually used it I had the idea that OSX just isn't my OS of choice, but would be pretty user-friendly, which it simply wasn't. Now that might be because I'm just not used to these machines, but at any rate it just isn't the system 'you'll get to learn within 10 minutes', as Apple loves to claim on their website (or at least used to, can't bother to check if they still have that up there). I have to agree though.. Side note: Isn't Linux mainly used for super computers? I'm pretty sure they support 128GB RAM. Oh I find a LOT of bad talk about OSX. The same thing you just complained about OSX users happens with Vista/Windows users, too. They act like it's some expensive, elitist, ultra-user-friendly OS, which it obviously isn't. And I never heard/knew that about Linux. However, that versions I've ever used have all been extremely light-weight, so I'd hate to see what they would do with that much RAM. Windows is hella fail. I've never known people to like BOTH Windows and Linux but call OSX fail. Oh, and you technically just said it was fail to not install Mac((which isn't "installable" so I just assume you mean the OS)). not sure if i pointed this out previously but OSX IS LINUX the kernel is linux at least. most people i know will be like this ... they use windows so they like it. used mac before but hate it cos its nothing like windows. and have no idea what linux is.

ahah i have no problems with mac at all at times its better than windows, works great. just that there isnt a lot of support for games n other shit like windows has. umm it wont go here, but the last thing was Big Bang Theory Season 1, cut/paste to my media player.

I guess that's the only bad thing about slot loading drives if you really wanted it, you could like .. take apart the ps3 and get it out. in case you didnt know already, the PS3 hdd is a 2.5" similar to laptops. buy an enclosure for it, then you can back it all up to your computer and then put it back when you get the ps3 back, im sure that'd work.

yer OSX86 its called. however, it sucks. more than regular macintosh OSX (which is actually pretty good if you dont do any gaming). heaps of incompatibilities etc etc. OSX uses a linux kernel anyway. Darwin kernel iirc. i remember the epic fail error we got when trying to fix a laptop, they brought it in "it wont turn on". we turn it on, then "no driver found for cpu0" im like...ummmm WOW, you need a driver for that?! i grew up with windows mainly, some of my friends had mac (those colourful imacs with clear shells, absolute p.o.s. i dont care what anyone says). they always got the shits with it. mac after OSX is good , before is just shite. as for vista well, see sig. I dont care about your BS excuse that its not a fast enough system, E6600 with 8GB ram and a GTX260 not fast enough?! and like almost 2TB of hard drives. if that isnt, please tell me what is.

i heard the cutscenes are really long in it etc. but yeah i agree with you, the games are good, just i dont wanna sit around waiting to do something. generally you can pick up the basic story / what happened in the cutscene by the objectives of the next mission (in prototype at least) and u know, just, over waiting. more play less movie.
