No, just going back to school. Well that's my excuse. If you want to convert the models or rig 3DS models for SA you should use Blender free download at blender.org and then you will need a script called GTA Import/Export Tool for Blender by Stephen Orning 'Hollower'. Then you will need to learn how to use the Blender etc.. There was a good free modeler called the Zmodeler but they are charging for version 2 now. Version 2 imports the GTA SA dff and 3ds as well.

Ok I got the file. Inside the DATA folder edit these files. This line of code belongs inside VEHICLES.IDE you can open in notepad: 404, peren, peren, car, PEREN, PEREN, null, poorfamily, 10, 0, 0, -1, 0.81, 0.81, 0 Overwrite line 404 all values on the same line. This line inside HANDLING.CFG you can open in notepad: PEREN 3400.0 6000.0 3.0 0.0 0.35 0.0 80 0.9 0.65 0.5 5 320.0 65.0 15.0 4 D 12.5 0.5 1 40.0 0.8 0.08 0.0 0.20 -0.05 0.5 0.5 0.44 0.1 40000 202020 710000 0 1 0 Again overwrite the line that start with PEREN. This makes the car react like a Dodge Charger. Some one might know this code but I poured over each dat file and couldn't find it. 1185, fbmp_lr_rem2, peren, 100, 2101248 Make back ups of the files you change. Run the game without and see if there is any oddities about the car. If the game crashes restore with back ups. BTW when I post mod I don't lock them and I give much more detail about how to install them or I include an installer. Good Luck!

You are installing a car mod right? .dff is the mesh structure of the car .txd is the paint job of the car both belong inside the GTA3.IMG "1185, fbmp_lr_rem2, peren, 100, 2101248" at first glance I would say belongs in the vehicle.dat or handling.cfg but the line looks to short and appears to be a handfull of numbers, did this mod come with a readme.txt?

I believe Butters! and Samil are on to something here. IF I was going to encode hidden messages into the game I wouldn't place them in the MAIN.SCM for just any code hacker to find. Using the graphics images to send "secret messages" is not a new device. Point of fact the NSA trains their cytologists to look for any odd patterns in images sent over the internet. I mean one picture sent over an email can contain a lot more information than just colors. Each pixel in an offset sequence could contain more information than you could imagine. Looking too hard is not in a cytologists vocab. Good work Butters! I think you need to resize the head have you tried it? You need to get an img extraction program since those .dff and .txd files only exist inside the GTA3.IMG file found in the models folder. IMG TOOL 2.0 is good for quick import and export. JAB

There are two I know of that work real well. Blender at blender.org has a plugin available for it. Free to use and works on many formats. Zmodeler converts to many formats but I think you will need to seek out an early version for ZM I here they charge for version 2. So look for version 1.07b it works just as good but it is very hard to find that version.

Yes my brother ToonSkull on here is working on doing some audio edits. Get the program called "Alci's SAAT GUI FrontEnd 1.0" from gta-worldmods.de and you can grab anything you like.

If you have version 2 (the NO hot coffee version) you will need to downgrade before you mod much of anything beyond a few data files. Because I have the hdd space I have 2 versions on my PC modded and original. If you don't have version 2 you might want to post this under help because people in modding are either A)modding the game B)looking for advice on how to mod or C)just surfing through. Well not really if you believe that man's tech level keeps rising and falling. We get real super smart and have a war almost killing the planet then we pull back up to the same level of tech as before. There was a show on the Discovery Channel asking if the Egyptians had electric lights? They showed where they discovered ancient batteries made with clay jars. Then a wall carving of a man holding a staff with a light bulb on the end. The metal filament was a snake and the snake means power. I have a book here at the house with a model plane found in Egypt and we must remember that the technology was lost on how the pyramids were built. It is there to discover again. I know there are many hair-brained theories on how they got built and who built them all I am saying is if it could be done today then do it. We don't even have a crane big enough to lift those bricks! Back to my coding...

I just wanted to update you guys on the status of our WIP and let you know it is progressing. I finished my summer job I held at the Mall so I won't be busy working and I start back to school this Tuesday. So I will be free to work on this a lot more throughout the Fall and Winter months ahead. School? Nah it won't get in the way, my grades suck because I let them suck. Why? Well the US education system hands you a diploma when you graduate from High School even if you suck. Answer this, Why does the drug addicted drooler in the back of the classroom get the same diploma as everyone else? The day they start posting my GPA on my diploma I will start caring. So here is the progress to date: What is Working? Tenpenny is in Player1 and it was done with 2 lines of code!! I tried the graphics route, but his face is distorted on the CJ model. CJ has a wider head. Pulaski and Hernandez get into the Cop Car and Pendelbury jumps on a HPV 1000 bike. Chase begins and if you kill Pendelbury you get Mission Complete and gain respect. Busted and Wasted are working fine. What is NOT Working yet? Tenpenny sounds like CJ in many scenes such as getting hit by other cars while driving. ToonSkull is working on it. Pulaski and Hernandez are not cops but coded as Grove Street Gang so they wont shoot you. But they love shooting cops! Pendelbury is too easy to kill. Sound and cut scenes for this mission are not finished. Fading is not working at all. It's the labor day weekend and I will be working on this tonight and plan to post the entire code with the compiled main.scm for continued education of modding community. See I am all for education when it makes sense! JAB

OK here you go this should explain what you need to do. Run Zmodeler and import your GTA dff if you want the textures to appear you must have the TGA's images in the same directory. Here I am loading the diablos.dff and because I didn't extra the tga it has no texture. Go to Tools -> Hierarchy -> Browser... Now examine the tree this tree MUST be this format to run any vehicle in GTA 3 Next close that file out or you will import on top of this model. I imported the Hermes from Vice City. You will notice some small changes made in the table between versions. I can import one car on top of another and then make notes of which files need renaming and removed. Clicking on the list of objects on the right will bring up a menu: Renaming is the easy part then you can drag and drop the items in the correct position in the tree. Export and test your model. Good luck it is hard work and you will get frustrated but it will be worth it in the end.

OUCH! You will need to change the hierarchy names of each part, I have done this with Zmodeler before but the other direction I placed a bike from VC to GTA3. Very tough. I will make you up a tutorial on this and get back to you on it. If you use something other than Zmodeler let me know.

IF you desire to make your own trainer there are builders available but you MUST study this program first. You would want the "Code Editor" tab then the sub tab "View Code Values". the one on this site is broke i got it before but when my computer F*cked up i lost everything were can i get a working one when i google it i get eariler versions or they crash It's not broken but most anti-virus programs ID the one file "KewlButtonz.ocx" as a virus but if you place that file on the ignored list of your AV software you will find there is nothing to fear.

Yeah we have a "work around" on the Hernandez into killing Pendelbury scene. I don't want to spoil this so read the spoiler at your own risk: We are not trying to re-imagine anything just make some crap up about what the hell Tenpenny was up to while we had some pretty lame missions going from point A to Z. The only mission we plan to change is the last where you drive the fire truck and try to kill CJ and Sweet. My brother Vinny (aka Toonskull) has allowed me to tell you the Zombotech mission will be a Mike Toreno mission. And ALL zombies will be kept inside the building. I have to get back to my code and Toonskull is really working hard on that audio. I just needed to pop on the net and look for code I need. JAB

Thanks Butters! but that wouldn't quite work since as they leave CJ in the alley near the bike they get the radio call that Pendelbury is down. So he couldn't be in the trunk. But my brother has a real cool ending I think we will use that point of view you suggested or at least try (make sure you get credit). You're going to love what Tenpenny says though. I hope to have mission one done by the weekend and available as both a beta test and preview to download from my page. Once we get all the missions at 100% we would both be proud to see it in the Database here. I don't know exactly how many missions we plan to mod but we know there will be missions that crisscross as CJ is given marching orders. My brother (aka Toonskull) loves zombies and wants to make some kind of a zombie mission with the Zombotech Building I keep telling him it is not Resident Evil. If he can make it stay within the storyline I guess I won't mind it too much. I just don't want the missions getting too goofy. Missions that won't change are things like buying street clothes, betting and playing pool. One thing we were discussing today is how to deal with the wanted level. We were thinking that it would be logical that gangs get more violent toward you as the stars increase. I toyed with the idea that the stars could indicate civil unrest. Suggestions are always welcome, if we decide to use even part of your idea, we will give you the credit. I prefer cash myself but I don't work for R*. JAB

Yes, Sky is correct I am using the "Running Dog" mission as the base for my coding. The first thing I did was make the game start at mission 28 "Running Dog" instead of the airport. That part was simple enough but then I had to change Big Smoke's Glendale into a cop car. The first time I tried the game crashed because the script language is very hard to follow. Finally when I got it placed and rotated and changed into a cop car it was BABY BLUE!! But that was an easy fix I just commented out the car color in the script. The instead of loading 'SMOKE' for the mission it loads the 'PULASKI' model. I am wondering if there is a better way to turn CJ into Tenpenny than messing with the image files. I am sure there is a script for it somewhere. So the reason that reads "Drive Big Smoke to the meet." is I have edited that part of the GTX (subtitles file). My brother is working on putting together some rather famous Samuel L Jackson lines.

Ok as I promised here are some screen shots of my WIP. The CJ model is still in there but this is the first mission prior to CJ debarking at the airport. In my opening cutscene Officer Pendelbury tells IA he suspects Tenpenny of manipulating gang activities for profit. Tenpenny hears this and must kill Pendelbury before he can get to the airport to pick up someone who can blow C.R.A.S.H. wide open. Click the thumb to see the screenshots. Afterwards you will see the usual cut with CJ being accused of shooting Pendelbury. My brother and I don't plan to remake any models. We plan to keep most of it simple to editing the MAIN.SCM, American.gtx, and adding some audio. My brother is writing the dialog up and I am working on the coding. We hope to have something new for people to play in the months ahead. JAB

Does yours have pixel shader? My GeForce card on this old machine doesn't and it seems everything I look at in the stores these days requires pixel shader... I either have to find a new card or stop buying new games. I know it's a conspiracy to sell new high end graphics cards. They could just have the option to shut some features down in the software. I really don't care what shade my pixels are!! JAB

Before you go throwing in the towel. Have you got an analog flight stick? It helps tons with flight. If that doesn't work you can always resort to a little cheating by editing the handling.cfg file inside the data folder. Look under planes section, I believe they have you fly the Rustler on most flight school missions. You can swap out the data with another plane and then put it back after you are done. If time is the issue many trainers are available like "San Andreas Ultimate Editor" will give you control of the count down timers. Make a copy of the handling.cfg before you edit!!! But I would with get a good flight stick and you will be amazed by how easy it will become. JAB

Butters! is not talking about bootlegging the game, which he obviously already owns. He is asking where he can get the audio of a radio commercial. While my suggestion is to use the source closest to you (the game files) and record your own MP3 files. The program uTorrent might have a bad rep for good reason but it is also a way to find rare files, my step-grandma downloaded a virus on her PC so live and learn. YouTube was also mentioned and while there is a lot of original material on there many people post game vids that could be violation of copyright just because some lawyer at R* says so. Look at what most of us modders do. We reverse engineer their games (which is in direct violation of the EULA) and share the modified files over an open network. R* puts up with this behavior for a few reasons. 1 It increases the popularity and shelf life of the game. 2 We modders are not making a dime off the mods but our mods have given them ideas for the next release. I will site a very good example; GTA SA is the first to have freeways with off ramps etc. Odie and Illspirt made the freeway mod in GTA 3 and if you compare the two, IMHO R* designers used the mod as a base design. And 3 The websites (most of them) discourage piracy and encourage direct purchase of the software. Hope that clears it up, JAB
