Eight long months after the last release, the MTA team have today updated their Multi Theft Auto mod for San Andreas. Changes made in this update include:

    • Added support for Windows 8
    • MTA:SA client installers (main and nightlies) are now digitally signed
    • Increased max players for a single server to 4096
    • New features: BASS Effects (
), Analog Controls States, Bullet Sync and Custom Vehicle Sirens (
      )
    • Added ability to create pedless weapons via weapon creation (video)
    • Added ability to shoot with any weapon with jetpack (
      video2)
    • Editor stability improvements and new features
    • ... and much more!

The team also boast some impressive stats on the mod's growth over the last couple of years.

Our unique player count record is now 9150 players at the same time (set on 2012 Aug Sun 26th 17:30). This July, there have been over 250,000 unique players in total, which also sets a new record (compare this to 76,290 in July 2010 and 154,800 in July 2011).

Want to get into the game, you can download MTASA 1.3.1 from our database right now. For those interested, a full change log can be found on the MTA wiki.

  2. Yeah this is sad. Such a talented man.

If I was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer and had the kind of money he has, I would simply try to get as much experimental treatment as possible. Then, even if it didn't work, at least it would in some way help doctors/scientists in understanding why it didn't work and help them to come up with a different procedure/medicine which might have a better chance at succeeding.

Also, it's pretty sad that euthanasia is still illegal in most countries. My guess is that he commit suicide because he didn't want to end up in constant pain and get to a point where he couldn't do anything about it. At least in this case he was able to end things on his terms while he was fully capable to do so.

But yeah, very sad. He made some great films. I hope Ridley continues to direct.

The GTA IV: San Andreas team have released a new beta of their awesome total conversion mod that brings the world of San Andreas into GTA IV using the powerful RAGE engine. Beta 3 adds a whole host of improvements, fixes, and features. Probably best summed up by the team themselves.

In this new third beta, new features are added, including, but not limited to multiplayer, races, gang wars, improved Setup and Launcher, improved graphics, map, vehicles, sounds, peds, shaders, collision materials, timecycle... Plenty improved stuff to check out!

    Watch the launch trailer below.

You can find out more about the mod on their official site where you'll also find download links. Be sure to join us and thousands of other GTA fans in our forums and let us know what you think!

  4. IPB ImageBack in January we heard that Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City would be coming to the PS3 in the form of PS2 Classics on PSN. And today, the official PlayStation Blogcast has confirmed that GTA III at least will be arriving on the PlayStation Store this Tuesday, 31st July.

The game will be released as a "PS2 Classic", which unfortunately means it's simply a direct port of the PS2 version of the game. So sadly there will be no fancy remastered HD graphics or trophies that many of you were hoping for. The game will set you back $9.99 in the US.

No word on availability in other regions yet. We'll update if we find any information on that.

UPDATE: Looks like the release won't happen this week.

Note: Due to an unforeseen complication, the Grand Theft Auto III PS2 Classic is not publishing with today’s Store post. We will update you when a new release date has been identified. We apologize for the inconvenience.

There were some last minute issues with getting clearance for a certain audio track in the game; but the teams at Rockstar are on it to review how to best get this title on PSN.

  5. I think it almost certainly is. The trainer worked flawlessly with the 1.1 patch. The steam version is patched on top of this. Needs to be downgraded to 1.1 for the trainer to work I believe. Which is difficult because I'm not aware of a downgrader anywhere. Manually doing it may not work due to Steam recognising it as out of date and subsequently auto-updating and overwriting it again.

  6. Haven't played VC on PC for years but I can't say I ever noticed MP3's being played at a bad quality. I would have thought the game played the file directly and as such it would sound exactly the same as when played in any normal media player.

    What bitrate are your MP3s?

By the way, you can't simply re-encode your MP3s to a higher bitrate, that won't improve the quality. You'll need original source files. So if you actually ripped them off a CD then you'll need to do that again. Or from a lossless format such as WAV or FLAC.

  7. Still not got any GTA games on your PC? Well, good news, today's daily deals in the Steam Summer Sale include the entire Grand Theft Auto Collection, with every game featuring a 75% discount.

Furthermore, the already discounted complete package has an additional 75% off. This means you can legitimately own all the PC GTA games for just £4.99 ($12.49 / 7,49€). That is an incredible deal!

The Steam Summer Sale is probably the greatest wallet-emptying experience for a PC gamer, but at this price, come on, it's not even gonna put a dent in it! At the time of posting this article you have just over 35 hours to take advantage of the deal.

  8. It'll run it but it won't be that smooth. Upgrade it to a 64bit version of Windows 7 and buy a new graphics card and it'll be much better.

That video card is at a low-end model and you're gonna have to use very low settings to be able to play IV smoothly. You need a High End GPU to play smoothly. Preferably one with a score of at least 2000 on that chart if you can afford it. 4GB of RAM will probably be enough.

  9. Pinch me if i am dreaming but is that the Glen park?

Yeah we're pretty sure it is.

It's about time they released some info on GTA V!

Well I think from now on we can expect to see info start trickling through more often. Maybe every few weeks we'll have something new :)

  10. Patrick Brown is up to his old tricks again. He's been focussing on Max Payne 3 related artwork as of late, but today he's produced this fantastic piece of artwork for Grand Theft Auto, showing all the protagonists of the series. Click the image below to see it in full.

    grand_theft_auto_legends_2012_by_patrickbrown-d53et9c_th.jpg

    From the man himself:

I've been wanting to do my classic GTA legends for a while, I can't believe it's been 3 and a half years since my last one. SO here we go, I've got 10 protagonists here including Albert De Silva from the upcoming GTA V, they're all just having a good time in (the new) San Andreas at Albert's mansion on the hills of Vinewood... looks like Niko can't handle how good GTA V looks compared to IV

I couldn't be more excited about this game! You can expect a lot of artwork from me based on GTA V

Here are the protagonists from left to right:

Toni Cipriani - Liberty City Stories

    Claude Speed - GTA III

    Carl Johnson - San Andreas

    Niko Bellic - GTA IV

Victor Vance - Vice City Stories

Johnny Klebitz - Lost and Damned

    Tommy Vercetti - Vice City

Luis Lopez - Ballad of Gay Tony

    Huang Lee - Chinatown Wars

Albert De Silva - GTA V

We should probably point out that Albert De Silva isn't actually 100% confirmed as the protagonist of GTA V at the moment, it's simply based on some assumptions and a "leak" at this point. You can see more of Patrick's amazing artwork on his DeviantArt page.

  11. IPB ImagePopular GTA IV modding tool OpenIV has finally reached a 1.0 release today. The main new addition in this update by GooD-NTS and the rest of the team is support for opening and viewing Max Payne 3 textures and collision bounds objects.

Other changes in this release include:

    • new texture viewer
    • improved GTA IV vehicle rendering
    • simple text-based format for easy WPL editing
    • many other improvements and bug fixes

The video below demonstrates some of the tool's features. Download links after the video.

  12. To be fair, Rockstar did say they would start the GTA V stuff after MP3 had been released. So, it's out now, yes they've still got DLC to come but for the main part marketing is all done for that game. So we can expect some real information to come in the next couple of months I think.

The October release, while still possible, does look extremely unlikely. It only gives 4 months for R* to market it and release new trailers etc. I'd expect them to want to take more time with it. Also, Take-Two have Bioshock Infinite being released then, and although it's not direct competition, they probably don't want the two titles competing.
