Was considering it but I have so many other games to play at the moment! I did just get GTA3 for iOS though so might play through that again as it's a pretty quick playthrough.

Just wondering if anyone here reads this magazine, it's UK based, the biggest independent mag for Xbox 360. Reason I ask is because I've been asked a few GTA V related questions to give my opinions and thoughts on. Apparently they will quote some/all of my answers in issue 81 of the mag which goes on sale January 25th. TGTAP has appeared in a couple of mags before but only as a link to the website for whatever reason - this will be the first time I'll appear in a magazine as part of an actual "industry reaction" piece so that'll be nice. Not sure how popular physical magazines are these days. Does anyone here read ANY gaming magazines?

Nice screens Chris! I should take some off my iDevices of the same shots for comparisons sake. Have to say it looks pretty similar to me so would have to compare side by side to notice any graphical difference. I think there might be less jaggies on the iOS version though. Actually, apparently it's "compatible" with my old HTC HD2 which I loaded an Android ROM on. I could actually play both myself lol but it would kill my battery, also not sure it would actually run since Android Market believes I'm using a Nexus One since that's what the ROM is from Chris, genuine question and not trying to troll, but how is the battery life while playing? Play the game for 30 mins or an hour or so, how much % of the battery does this take? Huck, I don't find it surprising at all actually. It seems to be a pretty direct port from the PC version so it makes sense they kept it all the same. Moving to RAGE would be a LOT more work and would probably increase the game size so much it wouldn't really be playable on mobile devices. As for the modding, yeah me and Psy (from iGTA) were commenting on this on Facebook. There's a few tutorials out there now, probably gonna experiment a bit myself and get some info up here.

Oh yeah you're right. There's a 50MB filesize limit, never even knew that and I'm a developer lol. I'm guessing this is because most people download apps directly on their device so are often use their mobile data connection rather than WiFi - unlike the App Store where you can just download stuff to your computer and then sync it.
-
Yeah I was thinking that. It's probably just the localised part you download, the actual game is probably the same for all versions so it's downloaded through the app itself, guess it's easier for them to manage that way although still a bit of a weird way around it since they haven't done this for the iOS version. In case anyone is wondering, GTA3 takes up 690MB of space when installed to your device, so bear that in mind if you need to free up space first.

<iframe src=" http://www.rockstargames.com/videos/embed/8291" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> Grand Theft Auto III has finally made its way on to select Apple and Android devices today. We'd definitely recommend getting this game if your device is compatible - just think of all the nostalgia! App Store and Android Market links are below. New features added to the game include: an intuitive, fully scalable and customizable user interface; upgraded textures; greater resolution and draw distance; new mission replay and autosave features for an all-new experience on mobile devices. Thankfully the app is a universal binary, so for those who own an iPad and an iPhone will only have to purchase the game once to play it on multiple devices, the same goes for those of you with Android devices. Let us know in the comments if you've bought it and how it plays on your device, on which you'll need around 690MB of free space by the way. I'll be trying it on my iPad 2 tonight and I might post a short review for you all later. Apple owners: iTunes Link - $4.99 (£2.99 / 3,99 €) Android owners: Market Link - $4.99 (£3.23 / 3,85 €) NOTE (for Android users): Localised versions of the game have been made for users in Australia, Germany and Japan, presumably to comply with local laws and/or language issues. If you reside in one of these countries you'll have to purchase the localised version. Currently supported devices:

For over a year, a team of talented modders have been working on an ambitious project to bring Vice City into GTAIV using RAGE. Proving that the GTA IV mod scene is alive and kicking, they have kept up their work and have now reached a point where the mod is almost ready for release, the first beta apparently being 98% complete. To show off their mod the team have released a trailer, and we have to say, it looks pretty damn awesome. Take a look... Impressive stuff don't you agree? We should clarify this mod is actually for Episodes from Liberty City rather than GTA IV itself, and is due to be released on 5th January. For more information see the GTAForums topic.

Lol the amount of time I've spent ensuring all my songs are correctly tagged is insane. -

You'd be surprised (I still am too) how many people still buy music legally. Just look at all the reviews and ratings on iTunes there already are (you have to buy to be able to do that), and of course hardly anyone actually bothers to leave a review or even rate it for that matter. So people are buying them. -
Saw it popup on Steam but haven't bothered to download it. I probably won't either, have too many other games to play.

GTA III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition Coming to Mobile Devices 15th December
Chris replied to Chris's topic in GTA III News
I doubt it will be that big. The PC version is under 1.3GB. The mobile versions should be smaller than this since it will only play at a single resolution (meaning graphics and probably other things can be optimised for the specific device's resolution). For comparison, Chinatown Wars takes up 768MB of space on my iPad, not many games take more than this. In fact only Rage and Real Racing 2 take up more than 1GB. So I'd imagine GTA3 will be around this size too. -
Rockstar have announced through the Newswire that the 10th anniversary edition of Grand Theft Auto III will be arriving on mobile devices next week on the 15th December. The game will launch on the App Store and Android Marketplace at a low price point of just $4.99 (£2.99 / 3,99 €). Rockstar have also updated the list of devices the game will be compatible with: Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive Personally I cannot wait to play this game, as you can see from a few screenshots that Rockstar included in the news post, it's easily one of the best looking mobile games out there right now. Let us know in the comments if you'll be getting the game and what device you'll be playing it on.

I think the same Noru, it's just that it NEVER finds another party. And it never has done either, not even when the game first came out and thousands of people were online.
-
So this is actually a flaw in the multiplayer system then? I mean if you have a party... you're supposed to go into a match against another party right? That's like the whole point of a party based system. That's how every other game using parties (CoD for example) works. Hmm... interesting design choice then. And am I correct in thinking only the party host can invite other players? So say if it was me and a R* guy, we couldn't both invite some people, only he could?
-
To be honest it was a bit of a mess for us on 360 the last time but that's probably because R* were only on the PS3 version. I assume they'll be handling it all this time. It's probably best if you guys add me AND one of the R* gamertags to be in with a better chance of getting in game. I can create a party and invite you guys but I'm not sure if we can force ourselves into a game with others. I always felt this part of GTA IV multiplayer was really awkward and I'm still not entirely sure how you're meant to join a game with your party. Whenever I tried this it was literally just my own party and no one else could join us so we had to play amongst ourselves. Anyone know how it's actually supposed to be done lol?
-
Nope. It's for everyone. Just add me or anyone else or a R* gamertag if you wish and we'll try and get you in a game!

Tomorrow marks the third anniversary of GTA IV's release on the PC. To celebrate, Rockstar are holding another special Multiplayer Event featuring themselves as well as various webmasters from some of the long running GTA fansites. The event takes place tomorrow, 2nd December from 4-7PM Eastern Time (that's 9PM to 12AM GMT) and both GTA IV and Episodes from Liberty City will be played. I myself will hopefully be playing a few games, my gamertag along with all the other webmasters participating is listed below, so feel free to add any of us and we'll try and get you into a game! For more details including R* gamertags and information on the sweepstakes, head on over to the Newswire post. And don't forget, if you can't join in the fun, you can always watch the live stream of the event on the Social Club multiplayer page!

Once I fix the award system, I'm giving you an award for your epic cake making skills Evo!

All in my bedroom, where else? EDIT: Actually, someone (Evo?) will probably photoshop a cake or something for us. I remember this happening in previous years.

TGTAP is 9 years old today
-
9 years ago today I started a website from my bedroom and got about 100 people to see it in the first month. Still going strong to this day, the same website now gets 1 million visitors a month. We've come a long way... So, happy birthday to The GTA Place! Now you may be wondering what's next for TGTAP. Aside from forum upgrades not a lot has changed around here recently. Granted, some things haven't needed to change, but I'm well aware of things that do need to be improved upon. The first and most obvious change that will come a long very shortly is a new layout for the homepage. Not completely new, more of a re-imagining of the current layout with some added features and better structure. Next up will be the content on the website, we'll be both improving the existing content as well as adding much needed new stuff. We'll also be giving more exposure to these forums to get more people joining and posting here. The downloads database will also receive a large update at some point, making it much easier for mod creators to manage their mods. There will also be improvements to the front-end making it a better experience for those just looking for mods to download - again, the forums will be suggested go-to place for questions etc. The forums will no doubt be on the receiving end of some changes too. Some new moderators will be looked at, among other things. I've been a bit vague on what exactly is changing. Mostly because I'm currently busy working on said changes! But if you are curious, feel free to ask me anything. Just so you know, the new layout really is going to appear very shortly, some time this week or next for sure
