    Next Trailer

My guess is February/March. This would ramp up awareness of the R* brand and thus Max Payne 3, as well as continue to fuel GTA V hype.
  2. It means you have idiot friends who click obvious fake videos, usually porn or shock videos, that in fact, when clicked, just spam links to all your friends. Drives a shit ton of traffic to the scammers website who makes $$$ off all the ad views etc.
  3. Some photos of an alleged Xbox 360 build of GTA V are making the rounds today, and at first glance they're actually pretty good. However, moving on to some light analysis we can soon see they are quite likely to be fakes. I am not going to link to the source website because they are virtually unheard of and in all likelihood they were created as a publicity stunt, they have even since updated their post to point out they are likely fake anyway. Here are the images in question (click for full size): As you can see, the images appear to show an Xbox 360 build of the game. The menus seem to lack a bit of polish, and we can see a thinner variant of the Helvetica typeface is being used (possibly deliberate but may be an error), but what would seem like the first somewhat obvious sign of fakery is that the dollar sign is on the wrong side of the number. Also, it is strange to see the "Stats" option greyed out. This doesn't make sense to us as these are viewable at any time in every GTA game. As for the map itself, in our opinion there looks to be far too much countryside, approximately two thirds of the map if you look at how much physical space it takes up. There's probably a number of other things we're missing here. But our immediate opinion is most certainly fake. Do you agree they are fake? Or do you think they could actually be real? Let us know in the comments, and of course if you've found anything in the images that proves they are real/fake. We'll update this post if we get any other interesting information regarding these.
  4. Yeah I think we got up to like 60 members or something before we got hacked and had to start again. Hardly any of us are around today.
  5. Haha. Wow. Almost every GTA site was shit back then, it's a wonder anyone even took us seriously. Having a domain name helped - so many sites used free webhosting with tons of ads and popups (this was before AdBlock remember). Lots of good memories from back then, despite it being partly to blame for me becoming somewhat reclusive and unsociable over the following years. Glad we're still around today, only 5 or so of us (websites) left who were around at that time.

Runs like crap? Sorry but you must have pretty low spec PC for MW3 to run like crap. Like you said it's just like MW1 and 2... and it runs like like them too, smooth as fuck because the graphics are so shit and the maps are so small. I average around 75-85fps
  7. Back in the day, I remember a couple of RPG liking friends always used to go on about Morrowind. I hated RPG games back then, actually tried RuneScape for a while but soon got bored. Anyway it suddenly occurred to me today that Morrowind was Elder Scrolls III. Was reading some comments on it and Oblivion, seems people thought Morrowind was the better game, but obviously it's a bit aged now. But Skyrim blows both games away, so that's a good sign. I think I will definitely get it on PC, it can handle it. Not sure if I'll get it right away though, I have a bunch of other games to finish first. I'm quite looking forward to it though, aside from Fallout 3 I've never really played RPG's before so should be a nice change. Thanks for the comments!
  8. wants some people to reply to the Skyrim topic :)

  9. Guys. Please educate me. This game looks fucking awesome but I don't know ANYTHING about it, or indeed the series. Never played any of the games. So you must tell me things. Probably the closest kind of game I've played to this is Fallout 3, which I did like but admittedly didn't play all that much, I didn't finish it because I chose to play other games I had at the time. So is this similar? Completely different? If I get this game, will it matter that I've never played any of the previous games in the series? Is it like a direct sequel or a brand new game? Basically will I have a clue wtf is going on? Console or PC? Not bragging here but I have a decent PC, a 360 and a PS3 so I could get it for any of those. I presume PC would be best? I played Fallout 3 both on console and on PC. I've got a metric shit ton of other games to keep me occupied right now, but I couldn't help notice the awesomeness of this one, so I'm definitely considering getting it.
  10. GTAForums member Dourvas has made an interesting discovery relating to the protagonist of GTA V. The first GTA V trailer is narrated very clearly, and we assume the narrator is the main character we play as. The older guy seen in the trailer is who we presume the voice belongs to. You'll notice actor Ned Luke bears an uncanny resemblance to him... Image and news via GTAV.net Not only does he have a similar physical appearance, he also sounds very similar too. What do you think? Tell us in our forums. UPDATE: Looks like there's even more to this than we originally thought. On 5th November, Jimmy Taenaka, apparently a friend of Luke's, made two tweets, where he gives props to his friend for landing the role. Additionally, a woman named Rebecca Halls who claims to be Luke's cousin made a series of somewhat negative tweets on 2nd November regarding his being in the trailer, if you can find them amongst her airing of personal issues. Lastly, Ned Luke himself allegedly goes by the Twitter handle @boomfatdaddy, although his account is not verified, the account does however follow @RockstarGames and even tweeted a GTA memory. UPDATE 2: Jimmy just tweeted that it's "not official" but seems convinced that it is Ned Luke.

    Battlefield 3

Yes I have it on PC, as well as MW3. Good things: Better graphics than CoD Bigger maps, with vehicles - ONLY good if you know how to drive/fly properly though. If you don't then just ride shotgun and help kill people! Squads - get a good squad/team and it's a lot of fun to play You can blow up pretty much anything Bad things: Have to use Origin to play it which is an incredibly shit piece of software. Battlelog server browser is web based meaning you need to also have your web browser running to be able to get into a game. Because of the above point, (you go straight into the game from that), at the start of each game people are changing their settings/loadouts so for the first 2 or 3 minutes the maps are mostly empty because people are fucking about with shit in the menus. I do it too, you have to since you can't change these things from your web browser obviously LAGGY SERVERS - Jesus Fucking Christ. It's so hit and miss whether or not you can find a decent server. You spend a good 5-10 minutes just trying to find one because they fill up so damn quick. The goddamn light! - The sun is ridiculously bright - yeah I know, the sun etc. but this is a game, apparently it's done for realism - fair enough, but there's a bunch of totally unrealistic things in the game too so I don't see why this should be one of the real things - example of unrealism - being able to revive people no matter what. Headshot? no problem let me just get the defibrillator out.... Tank blown up? No problem, let me just blowtorch it and it'll be good as new... And while we're on the subject of light. Tactical light on guns ... wtf... they're ridiculously bright as well, I don't think people know they can turn it on/off, and actually if I see a bright shining light I just shoot at it. Guns seem far too accurate, you can kill people from miles away with a normal gun, you don't even need an actual sniper rifle The dirt and glare on your visor... again, apparently done for realism... pretty sure real soldiers would have polarised sunglasses, and if they got that much fucking dust on them you can just fucking wipe them with your sleeve... but apparently because this is a game they must be kept dusty as shit... for realism... If you fly a jet too high you hit an invisible ceiling and your speed drops to 0. You don't die or get damage or anything, but it's just kinda dumb... I realise there must be an invisible ceiling but they could at least have a beeping noise and your speed gradually slow, that would be more realistic. Honestly it IS a good game, but the above points are what makes it really frustrating to play at times. I hope they patch what they can of that. If they do, I'll go back to it and see if I find it more enjoyable - right now I'm having more fun playing MW3.

    Modern warfare 3

Really really bad? Like what aspects of it exactly? It's pretty much the same as MW1 and MW2 so if you liked those then it really isn't bad lol. MW3 has dedicated servers but there's only about 100 or so on the list, only about 10 of them have any people on. I think only clans use them. It's actually kinda weird how so many people kicked up a fuss about the lack of them but now they've added them they are barely used. Might as well make a list of things I like about it: Customising classes is better, nice to be able to have different killstreak rewards for different classes, although personally I tend to use the same shit. Not many people noobtube. A few still do and it's annoying as fuck. But it's nowhere near as bad as it was in MW2 Multiplayer seems fairly well balanced PC version now actually has multiplayer leaderboards What I don't like: Same game engine - it's tried and tested, works well. BUT I really think they need a new one or at least a major upgrade. The graphics are shit. I suppose it means everyone has a way better frame rate but still, petty much the same as MW1 and that was how many years go? Console gaming is significantly holding back graphics progression on the PC. Hackers already starting to appear. Top 20 on the leaderboards are obvious hackers (1 trillion points from 5 games lol) Knifing is a bit weird. When I knife someone it's like a 50/50 chances it will 'miss' them. Today, I died from a knifing and I had actually ran straight past the guy (didn't see him) but obviously he saw me so he went to knife me, but I saw on his killcam I had already gone past him, like he knifed in the wrong direction but somehow I still died. I recall this occasionally happening in MW2 but it wasn't this bad. And no, I don't think either of us were lagging or anything. Still no usable vehicles. I know CoD is a pretty fast shooting game and has smaller maps, maybe it would become too similar to BF if they did add vehicles... I dunno. Comparisons with Battlefield 3 are inevitable, and since I own both games I can actually give a valid opinion. I like both games, but right now I am getting a lot more enjoyment out of MW3. BF3 just has too many bugs and is too laggy and stuff right now that it's frustrating to play. There are however things I prefer about Battlefield, but I'll post them in the BF topic so this one can stay about MW3.

    Modern warfare 3

Haven't played the single player campaign yet, I went straight into multiplayer which is what I bought the game for. I'm pretty pleased with it so far. I had more fun online with MW and MW2, I preferred the maps in MW, and some of MW2... but we'll see how this goes. I think it's better than Black Ops though so that's a good sign. Guarantee you'll still get people coming in here talking about how Activision/IW "pump out the same shit every year" etc, despite your pleas for a normal topic. Best just to ignore

    New Server

The owner of the company I had my previous server for some weird reason decided to register the IP addresses to his home address instead of the datacentre. So as far as GeoTool was aware our server was located in his flat in Rugby, England ... lol Apparently our new IP address has no address associated with it other than the fact it's located in the Netherlands. GeoTool places us directly in the middle of the country which happens to be a field. In we're actually nowhere neat this. We're located in the EvoSwitch datacentre in Haarlem which is pretty much on the west coast of the Netherlands.

    New Server

GeoTool isn't always accurate btw, but yes, it is located in one of the best datacentres in the Netherlands. NOT in the middle of a field as GeoTool thinks
  16. Yeah I think Spaz is right. Using mods would defeat the purpose of the recreation I think.
  17. Good question Bossman, something I have experience with on both an academic and real-world level. Yeah, in terms of web development it IS best practice to leave checkboxes unchecked by default. You give the user the choice, rather than make it for them. Mostly in regard to opt-in/opt-out services, where they should always be opt-in, but it can also apply to "remember me" features. It's all in the name of protecting the user really. Exceptions to this "rule" are forums and websites where your details don't pose any kind of security risk; the checkboxes for remembering you are ticked by default simply for convenience, as most people WANT this in place so they don't have to login each time, of course they can uncheck it if they want. It's not something forced upon the user. It's typically not seen as bad practice in this situation. As Spaz pointed out, online banking is a prime example of where automatically ticking a remember me box would be bad practice, if someone logs on to their account using a shared computer and forgets to logout at the end of it then any subsequent user could get access - that's obviously a huge security risk.
  18. I'm sure many of you reading this will remember trailers for GTA IV being recreated in GTA: San Andreas, most notably those made by Brotha which we featured on the front page here at The GTA Place. Well, it didn't take long for GTAV's first trailer to get that same treatment, this time by YouTube user CreativityZone. Below, you can watch his recreation along with the real GTA V trailer vertically split-screen to see exactly how they compare. I think he's done a pretty amazing job. If you want to see the recreated trailer by itself without the real GTA V comparison, you can .If you've made or found something interesting related to GTA V, even if it's just for fun, be sure to point it out to us and post about it in our forums!
  19. Please don't post descriptions in topic titles, it makes them too long. Might also be helpful to edit your post and add an English translation of that. I'm also moving your topic to GTA SA Multiplayer forum. Multumesc.
  20. No. You're just racist. They're not "invading" the country. They're just people escaping their own countries in search of better life. The UK really isn't the place for them, but they don't know that. For them, any country is better than their homeland. But seriously you can't go around calling all Afghans/Middle Eastern people terrorists.

    New Server

Good news everyone! After a period of fairly random unreliability and some downtime over the past month, we decided to move to a brand new dedicated server. The new server has a better processor, almost 3 times as much RAM, twice as much bandwidth, and a 1Gbps connection speed - that's 10 times faster than what we had previously! This should really help improve our reliability, and we can now realistically aim for almost 100% uptime through the year. The move is complete, and everything should be working as normally, but if you notice anything strange, let us know!
  22. Nope. No date is official until Rockstar announce it.
  23. Rockstar have today officially announced that Grand Theft Auto V is in full development. The company released a statement on the newswire which confirms that the game will be set in Los Santos only, not all of San Andreas; it will however include "surrounding hills, countryside and beaches". The statement also confirms that money will be a major theme of the game, and that GTA V will be the largest and most ambitious GTA to date, re-imagining present day Southern California.
  24. Haha yes we never had much in the way of a "gallery", each image on an individual page, always a pain in the ass to navigate. What we have on the GTAV screen caps page is pretty much how all our screenshots will be from now on. Popping up in a box and you can browse through by click next/previous buttons or using the left/right arrows on your keyboard. I'll see if this can be improved upon a bit more but I think it's already a huge improvement over what we had before, and saves tons of resources not having to load a whole new page for each image!
  25. Glad to have you back guys! Yeah activity has picked up a hell of a lot lately, and I'm looking to build on this even more. I'm planning some changes to the website which include a tweaked layout, new or improved content, improved downloads database etc. When these changes go live I'm going to be looking at highlighting new content from the forums. At the moment the community in TGTAP itself is quite fragmented. We have forum users, website users (for news etc.) and downloads users (who come only for mods). This is fine, each to their own, but we'd prefer for people to make use of the WHOLE site. We should be a primary source for GTA. That means people should visit the website for the latest news, information on the games, media like screenshots and videos etc. Then they should come to the forums for discussion, for help, for showing off their finds, for anything else. And finally, if they want to mod the PC versions of the game, they can visit the downloads database. We cover pretty much every aspect that fans want, but we're obviously not executing this well enough at the moment. This will change.
