Nevermind, I solved it by deleting the gta_sa.set file and launching the game letting it create a new one.

Well, I have 2 user accounts on my PC. One, administrator that I use, and one limited that the rest of my family uses.
When I try to launch San Andreas, gta_sa.exe appears in Task Manager for a few seconds, then disappears. Nothing else happens. Strangely, when I log into the other (limited) account, the game launches just fine.
Any ideas?

Oh and EFLC and GTA IV are the only programs that won't uninstall. I've tried uninstalling from the disc or from Windows (with the disc in and with it out) and every way it did the same way.

Well, I wanted to uninstall then install GTA IV so I could go back to the patchless version and install some mods. When I went to Vista's 'Programs and Features' and clicked uninstall, instantly it popped up saying that it may not have uninstalled correctly, and that I should use administrative settings. I did, and it did nothing. It simply would not uninstall it, no catches. I went onto the IV Disc, and when clicking on autorun, it said either back or Launch Social club, so obviously it still thought the game was installed. I deleted the whole 15GB IV Directory, same thing. I then went through and deleted every registry key I could find, and finally it gave me the option to install. I clicked it, and the window disappeared but then came right back up the same thing. Now it wouldn't install it!
I also have EFLC from D2D installed. I've tried disabling all of AVG, and disabling DEP, as well as using compatibility options. I determined that me moving my temp files directory isn't causing it.
I think it may be a Windows Problem as just for kicks I tried uninstalling EFLC and the same EXACT thing happens. Except, I didn't actually delete the directory, so the game still works just fine. I won't do anything!
I'm running Vista SP2 and am totally up to date on all updates and have Windows Live for Games V3.3 and both IV Installations were fully updated.
How to I reinstall the game?

EDIT 2: And when clicking directly on Setup.exe on the disc, it simply just doesn't appear. No errors or anything. It won't even open in Task Manager as a process.

Astronaut or not, you're all forgetting that in MW2 there was also a brief amount of time where you played the role of an astronaut and got to see the ISS get destroyed.

Besides the fact that it uses Linux to cut licensing costs, it does seem like an exploitable toy to tinker with, like the Linux-powered Leapfrog Didj and Explorer, which also costs probably as much as that tablet.
Haha, the Didj runs on Linux? My brother has one but he seldomly uses it anymore . . .
Is it possible to hack it and do cool Linux things with it?

Was it working before?
Try reinstalling the game. Also, I don't think it'll be your problem since your game started but I had some problems with my SA installation not starting because of Data Execution Prevention, and disabling it for gta_sa.exe fixed my problem.

Plus 2 460s was just asking to produce a shitload of heat.
Build starts around 14th August, should end around the start of October.
Why would it take you a month and a half to build a computer?

UPDATE next day:
I just used the Compaq Recovery partition and it worked fine, erased all the old stuff and wasn't loaded with bloatware.

Oh, and another thing:
Apparently a year ago they had taken it to Staples to replace the Drive. (It has a 320GB WD Drive in it but says 100GB Drive on the front) So, the OS tells me it's registered to an OEM license, but the original sticker on the computer gives me a retail key (xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx)
Which one should I use? And if I download XP Home SP2 but their key was for SP3 for example would that cause it to not work?

Actually, now that I've taken the time to explore their PC, I think I'll try using the Compaq Recovery Partition first.
I don't know if it has the ability to wipe out the whole drive or not though . . .
Well, if it doesn't work, then I guess I will just go with the whole 'illegally download it but use a legal key' thing.

Recently (like, today) my cousins gave me an old Compaq Presario Desktop of theirs that they didn't really want or need anymore. It's quite old, an AMD Sempron 3200+, 2x256MB RAM, and an ATI X200 Onboard Video Chip, but I'll find use for it anyway.
Anyway, after the x number of years they used it, the OS has become old and buggy, and I don't really need their stuff anymore. So, I would like to reformat the drive and reinstall XP. The problem is, my Vista disc I have for my new PC can only legally be installed on one PC, and I don't have the Windows XP Disc. So, I was wondering if it would be legal to download an ISO of Windows XP, but instead of just using a generated key or something like that, registering the copy legally and normally using the key it's installed with right now. (Right clicking my computer and then properties will tell you the key and who it's registered to)
That seems like the obvious solution . . . But the problem is I don't know if it's legal or not.
I know that downloading it is illegal, but since I'm using a genuine key and only on one computer, perhaps it would be OK?

hmm hard to choose, though plymouth road runner superbird was pretty cool.
You know, that's the car they used to use in NASCAR (like 30 years ago, I think Richard Petty drove it too) until they got pissed at Chrysler for winning every race by 30 laps and wanted to limit their cars, making Chrysler also quite mad and leaving.

The GTX 460 will wipe the 5770 all over the road, performance wise. They're not even in the same market. Again, I still don't understand how you can compare a 5770 and 5870. Like I said before, the GTX 460 performs similarly to a Radeon 5830.
I'll leave it at that.

I just don't like the 4xx series because they use so much power and produce so much heat. Also, they're expensive compared to ATI and if you don't care about DX11 or more monitors, then you can get a 200-series card for the same relative performance for WAY less price.

Because while I believed NVIDIA's 200 series to be far greater than ATI's Radeon 4000's, when it comes to the GTX 400s and the Radeon 5000s it's completely turned around. The new Radeons are better in mostly every way; power consumption, heat, performance, and mainly, price.

Sweet feedback. I'll re-evaluate the SSD situation, maybe use the money to grab a faster set of HDDs.
Also the Nvidias are clocking in like £50 cheaper than the 5850s where I usually shop. Also athlons have pathetic clock speeds and even more pathetic caches. I'd rather pay £30 extra for 4x the cache size and another ghz of CPU power.
If you get a Phenom at a higher clock speed, then yes, it's better. I didn't realize they had 3.4 GHz Athlons . . . .
Anyway, clock for clock the Athlon wins and the cache really doesn't make a ton of a difference. But, read this article and make your own conclusions.
Oh and if the NVIDIA's are really cheaper where you shop, then get it. However, be aware that the GTX 460 is far below the 5850 which is why it's way cheaper. The GTX 465 is roughly on part with a 5830, so figure it out from there.

For 1, good luck fitting an OS on a 32GB Drive.
For me, Vista alone takes up over 20GB. Couple that with AppData, your Desktop and Documents, Restore points, the page file (if you don't move it off the SSD), temporary files, etc., stuff really fills up quick more than you think and you may find yourself running out of space. SSDs also should be kept under 2/3 full for best life/performance. For me, I have nothing on my SSD but the OS, MS Office, and Firefox, and I'm struggling to keep it under 45GB on my 60GB Drive.
Second, you would see nearly identical real world performance at a much lower price if you went for an Athlon II X4.
Last, and some people may disagree, but as much as I love NVIDIA, I've been pretty disappointed with their 4xx Generation and I would recommend an ATI Radeon unless you've got a really good deal on the GTX460. A 5830 is about on par with the GTX 460. But get a 5850 if you can, it has a much better price/performance ratio.
