The Captured Screens and Video thread
Cryptecks replied to Chris's topic in General GTASA Discussion
Here you guys go: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=155164. All it requires is a USB pen drive of some sort and all the software mentioned. Please post there for help, as I haven't (and probably won't) tried this method. I've seen several screens exported with the utilities mentioned in the thread, and all of them look just like they do on TV, just without the big frame around it. If I can get my hands on a pen-drive then I will certainly post up the screens I get with it. -
I also thought that "Just Business" was pretty easy. After the initial freakout of a room full of Russians vs. Two gangstas', I just concentrated on mowing down anyone I locked on to. The rail-gun sequence is pretty tough, I must admit. I found it useful to shoot out any tires I could before they started shooting back, and on the bikes, just aim for the driver and you should take out both people. The cars are really a beast to get, but just keep your aim steady, and the best place to aim when you have no other shot is right at the hood. A couple seconds of contant fire on the hood will set the car on fire, and you might get lucky enough to have a biker or two run into the smoldering ashes of the car. I had literally no health left (niether did my bike), and it went to that cutscene where Smoke drives over the _____ and we win. I really didn't think that it was going to happen that way, I thought I was gonna die like crazy, but I didn't. If you thought that was hard, wait till the rail gun sequence in "Reuniting the Families."

Archive updated, keep those questions coming...

Like Smartboy said, it is best to focus on your driving only. Take the corners slow, but power out of them like you own the streets. Never worry about the other cars until the straight-away at the pier, where you might want to look back before punching the Nitro. Overall just try to keep the car pointing the right way, and be sure to look at the arrows inside the checkpoints for a clue as to where the next one is.

A#007- In Los Santos, there are the Spraypaint tags. In the Countryside and San Fierro, there are the photo-ops. In Las Venturas and the Desert, try to find Lucky Horseshoes. Spray tags increase your respect. Photo-Ops just look cool. Horseshoes increase your gambling luck at casinos like "The Four Dragons." Oysters can be found underwater, and can be used to increase your lung capacity.

Added up to Question and Answer 6 in the Archive, updated the topic title and post with *Spoiler Warnings* (thanks Smartboy4). I need more questions to answer, mission help, 2 player icon locations, anything you can think of and we will all try to answer it.

Here ye go, I found this with about a 2 minute search, don't know if it is exactly what you wanted: http://www.clantda.com/gta/kartan_content.html PS: Why do you need this if your game case contains a copy of a huge poster/map.
-
@www.Spasmod.ToM- I've got the guide, I can scan the vehicles maps if you want. Otherwise, I am going to write up my own guide using the Brady's guide as a reference.
-
Yes there are towtrucks, I'm working on a vehicles list, to be coming soon, but I will tell you where some towtrucks are when I get home (typing this in class). No, you cannot smoke, or nobody has found out yet, which isn't very possible. Oh yeah, you can start fires, just go burn stuff. It isn't all R* said it would be, but it is a lot better than in III or VC.
-
Yes, you probably do have to pay a large sum of money, considering real pilot's licenses cost that and more. And yes, the Pilot School is in Las Venturras, the last of the unlocked areas.

When I got the mission to go up the mountain and kill the witness, I was smart enough (sarcasm) to not pick up any weapons. So I basically walked up to 4 FBI guards with no defense. I stealthed through the trees and into the cabin without detection. I started to beat on the witness with my fists, and the guy just ran straight into a wall and kept running into it, so he was an easy kill. I took my picture, and as soon as I stepped out of the building, I was getting ripped apart by the 4 guards. I grabbed the Sanchez and decided my best bet was to fly off the edge of the mountain. I did, and somehow lived because I landed on a downslope and slid down. I rode back to the trailer and was sucessful in winning the mission. Just thought I'd share my story, and as for your problem, you are going up in the wrong place, you need to find the brown dirt roads with the parking lots at the foot of the mountain, although you probably already found it by now.

(Sorry for the Double Post, not right situation for an edit) I have a question myself, if I happen to find the answer, I'll answer myself. Q#003- Where are some alternative locations to get the camera? I know the Johnson house, but I don't exactly want to go all the way back to LS to do the SF Photo-Op missions.
-
A#001- When in hand-to-hand combat, Square is a block, Triangle is a punch/jab, and Circle is your standard attack. When you have a gun in your hand, Circle is fire (obviously), Square and Triangle do nothing when you are locked with a weapon. A#002- Yes, but your sex appeal has to be high enough to warrant a "working lady." *Added these to the Archive*

Okay, all posts that aren't answering or asking a question will be deleted, so start your topic like this: Q#000- Is it true you can pee on people in the game? Then someone else with the answer would put: A#000 (Same number as the question you are answering)- No, it is not true, this was a rumor started to get a negetive opinion of the game, and was easily shot down by R*. Please follow this format, and the mods will keep this post updated with all the questions and answers (thanks mods). BEWARE, THIS ARCHIVE WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!!! ARCHIVE: Q#000- Is it true you can pee on people in the game? A#000- No, it is not true, this was a rumor started to get a negetive opinion of the game, and was easily shot down by R*. Q#001- when attacking, you can use the triangle for a secondary attack, what does it do when in hand to hand combat and when holding a gun? A#001- When in hand-to-hand combat, Square is a block, Triangle is a punch/jab, and Circle is your standard attack. When you have a gun in your hand, Circle is fire (obviously), Square and Triangle do nothing when you are locked with a weapon. Q#002- Can u still pick up hookers right off the sidewalks? A#002- Yes, but your sex appeal has to be high enough to warrant a "working lady." Q#003- Where are some alternative locations to get the camera? I know the Johnson house, but I don't exactly want to go all the way back to LS to do the SF Photo-Op missions. A#003- If you are looking for an easy to find camera for San Fiero, look in some of these places: Esplanade East (2 Cameras) Easter Basin, very end of railroad where import/export crane is Easter Bay Airport, north end of Foster Tunnel Foster Valley, outside the loading bays in complex Q#004- If you don't feed CJ, what will happen to him? A#004- If you choose not to feed CJ, many things happen. First, you will notice a signifigant loss in muscle mass, because his body is eating the muscle to stay alive. Then your controller will shake, and you will lose some health, you'll also get a message on-screen to get some food. You will continue to lose health until you die (this takes a very long time, just go grab a chili-dog or two to hold CJ over if you don't want to go back to town. Q#005- When will i get to Las Venturas? Which mission, whose? A#005- After you obtain your pilot's license and fly a few more rounds, Woozie will call from LA The Four Dragon's Casino and ask you to head over, from your airyard in the desert. Q#006- What is the last mission name of the main storyline? Or a few back... A#006- The last 3 missions in the main storyline are as follows: Riot, Los Desperados, and the very last mission, End of the Line. Q#007- What are all those things that we have to find (like spray tags..) ? A#007- In Los Santos, there are the Spraypaint tags. In the Countryside and San Fierro, there are the photo-ops. In Las Venturas and the Desert, try to find Lucky Horseshoes. Spray tags increase your respect. Photo-Ops just look cool. Horseshoes increase your gambling luck at casinos like "The Four Dragons." Oysters can be found underwater, and can be used to increase your lung capacity. Q#008- Can you take a picture of yourself using the camera, if so how? Will the mirror work? A#008- Just go to your mom's house and go to the wardrobe upstairs, I have a pic on my memory card of Carl taking a pic into the mirror in the wardrobe. If you can't go back to LS for fear of your life (don't want to spoil why), then find any other mirror, usually in the bathroom of some of the better safe-houses. Q#009- Does anyone know where to find the hovercraft A#009- After a quick thumb-through of the Brady Game Guide, I've found that the actual hovercraft is called the Vortex, and is first seen in the mission "Cut Throat Business" where you are also introduced to the Go-Kart. You can find both these vehicles in many places after this mission (I'd try where the mission took place). Q#010- How do you get the fighter? A#010- The Hydra (a jet with thrust-vectoring for hovering and afterburners) is first seen in the mission "Vertical Bird" two missions before "Cut Throat Business." It can be found after (or maybe before [i always get shot]) the "Vertical Bird" mission inside the aircraft carrier in San Fierro on a platform beneath the deck. The plane also spawns at your airyard after completion of the mission.

Just to let everyone know, I'll be picking up my copy of San Andreas in exactly 1 hour and 33 minutes eastern time (7:01 for those of you elsewhere). I hope to at least answer a couple of questions for you guys after I play through it for a bit. Expect a Q&A thread tomorrow!
-
Yeah, I must agree exactly what you said. When all else fails, C++ prevails.

San Andreas (supposedly) leaked too? NO
Cryptecks replied to Cryptecks's topic in General GTASA Discussion
Notice how the title was a question? I knew this was a rumor, and I also disproved it. Don't tell me to check my rumors, because I disproved this one, but left it up for informational porposes. -
San Andreas (supposedly) leaked too? NO
Cryptecks replied to Cryptecks's topic in General GTASA Discussion
It basically means that someone in the publication factory used the master disc to make himself a copy of the game. Then this copy was ripped onto the internet. Anyway, I've seen lots of arguments on this already and I am going to update my post with the most obvious counterexample (file size). -
Well, this really sucks, and I can almost believe it being true, with the dumbasses working in the publication industry these days. I'll try to keep you updated on the issue, hopefully there will be an official statement from R* soon. Source: SPOnG.com EDIT! After some very hot debate, this issue has been almost entirely disproved. The one leading argument that proves this wrong is that SA is on a Dual Layered DVD, yet the file size is a mere 3.95gb. After a bit of easy research, I found that a Single Layered DVD can hold 4.38gb, and a Dual Layered DVD (which SA uses extensively), holds up to 7.95gb. BAM! Rumor killed, unless only a small portion of the game was leaked, which would be dumb, because it would make some parts of the game disfunctional.

With the recent announcement that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has "gone gold," I thought I would shed some light on what the term even means. This is the process to the best of my knowledge, and if I get something wrong, just comment and I'll fix it. First, the game is fully developed, and (hopefully) bug-tested. When this game is dumped onto the developer's computer, they use the most reliable form of storage to store these priceless files. This storage is the Digital Tape, which was once mega-popular, and now can hold 200 gigs of data and more, which makes it ideal for the developer. These tapes are transported, under very heavy security, to a representative for the publisher. The publisher then gives these to what I'll call "game dumpers," who transfer the digital tapes onto another master computer in the publication center. Next, the computer makes a DVD-ROM image of the game, and makes several backup copies, probably to more digital tapes, several hard-drives, and partitioned to CD-ROMS. Finally, this image is used to burn millions of copies of the game, and in the same building, the manuals and cases are also being printed up. After a period of 2-4 weeks, enough copies are printed of everything to release the game initially, and then copies are continuously printed to keep up with demand for the game. Hope that enlightened some people, and I know I did not get some of the details exactly right, so if anyone knows them better, just comment and I'll change it.

When will you be getting your copy of GTA : SA
Cryptecks replied to smartboy4's topic in Members' Lounge
Preordered it on August 28th, gonna go pick it up during my lunch period the 26th or after school if I have to. For al of you that have to wait for Christmas, well, you just won't know what you're missing. -
This is unofficial as of now, but here we go anyways: Inside Gamer Online is reporting that the game is done, and has been sent off to the DVD production factory, where heavily armed guys are standing in front and inside a building making millions of copies of the game. With only 12 days left until the game hits US shelves, this is actually a bit late of an announcement, since Halo 2(coming out in November), was announced gold a few days ago. Anyway, stay tuned for the official announcement from R* themselves. Thanks to Planet GTA for the heads-up.

It's because gta-sanandreas is down, I sent them the news submission for it, but they went down later that day. Also, nobody has posted on the GTAGaming forums yet about it, anyone with an account should do that.
