"The team here at PC World are hugely excited about the forthcoming release,” said René Wright, senior category manager - console and games at DSGi.

And iv'e emailed the UK leading Gaming Outlets to see if they are planning a midnight opening for GTA IV

  2. i might be wrong but didnt san andreas take about 150 hours to complete it looks like IV wont take as long

I have no Idea because I had problems playing some missions like Ceaser Vialpando, Beach Party and the last one, because the graphics were too powerfull for my PC, but I changed the settings and can play now :) but back on topic, I got a feeling it will be more than 100 hours because 7 Missions is equal to 4 hours play or 4 Missions is equal to 7 Hours.

  3. Rockstar: "We would have to give away half the game for free. People would think Liberty City is a tiny city. You run into problems."

There won’t be a GTA 4 demo, Rockstar has told VideoGamer.com.

Speaking during our hands-on with what will surely be 2008’s biggest game, a Rockstar rep told us that a demo "isn’t worth the time and effort".

When asked if there will be a demo Rockstar replied: "I’m sure there won’t be. If there was we would have talked about it. With a game like this the guys at Rockstar North will want to spend every minute making the game look great. Most people know the concept of GTA anyway. I don’t know that the demo is worth the time and effort."

He added: "Also much of GTA 4 is the driving around and we wouldn’t be able to give out the whole city. We would have to give away half the game for free. People would think Liberty City is a tiny city. You run into problems."

  4. Ye if you preorder from Play.com or Amazon you will get it a day or 2 early according to Chris because it has happened to him, and a 'Game' rep told me over the phone

'If you preorder the regular or Special Edition versions they will dispatch it out 2 days before release in 1st class postage'.

But around here the postman don't come till around late morning so I will pick up in store!

  5. Well there's snow in GTA IV...

I don't think there will be seasons though. And since the game is set in 2008 it won't really make sense...

Where have you seen snow in GTA IV? If you mean those squibbly dusty lines in the scans, then those are dust, because my scanner is quite dusty.

But if not just carry on lol :innocent:

    Looks like snow to me...

I don't think it's rain, although it could be...

I think thats what rain looks like.

Right the two pics posted here is actually rain.

1st Pic: Its rain that goes onto the camera like in VC after it had been raining the camera would have rain drips on the screen for a couple of seconds.

2nd Pic: Its just heavy rain!

  6. Earlier this month we revealed that a selection of privileged websites were receiving hands-on demonstrations of GTA IV, and that previews were due to be published some time around the 27th of this month. We now have a confirmed date for those previews, and that is Thursday 28th February, which is two days from now. You can expect previews from Kikizo, GameSpot, IGN, and the usual suspects. We don't know the exact time of release yet, but expect it to be around 5PM or 6PM (GMT).

  7. Electronic Arts’ move to acquire GTA publisher Take-Two is driving Ubisoft to speed up its own shopping plans, says the company’s CEO.

According to a Thompson Financial report spotted by Next-Gen, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that EA’s $2 billion bid to purchase Take-Two was forcing the company to re-evaluate its own expansion strategy. In other words, it’s looking to get to the shops before EA buys everything.

"The desire of EA to buy Take-Two pushes us to go faster, to accelerate internal growth but also to look at acquisition opportunities," Guillemot said.

But despite how great it’d be to halve our daily PR phone calls, it doesn’t look like Ubisoft Midway is going to happen anytime soon.

According to the report, Ubisoft is likely to focus on expanding its game license portfolio rather than targeting any major takeovers.

Of course EA also holds a 15 percent stake in the French Publisher, but the chances of a future hostile takeover look even more unlikely thanks to success of Assassin’s Creed, which is expected to clear five million units by next month. That’s a lot of Altair’s.

  8. The Australian federal government says it is considering introducing an R18+ classification for games.

Such a move would allow the sale of more explicit titles in the country, reports The Sydney Morning Herald, although any proposal to extend the R18+ rating - which can already be granted to films and magazines - to games would have to be agreed to by the Commonwealth, states and territories.

The possibility of whether or not to allow an R18+ classification for games will be discussed at the next Standing Committee of attorneys-general (SCAG) in late-March.

Under the current guidelines there is no adult classification for games in Australia, so titles that fail to satisfy the MA15+ standard are banned from sale in the country. In total 18 games have been banned since 2001, although eight of those bans were later lifted after modified versions of the games in question were resubmitted for classification.

Most recently Australia’s Office of Film & Literature Classification (OFLC), the country’s classification board, refused to grant Digital Extremes’ Dark Sector (pictured) a rating.

In response to the news the Australian Family Association said that it would be opposed to the adoption of an R-rated category for games.

"... We believe that research is pointing to the fact that these games actually do impact behavior and psychology more easily than a film," said spokesperson Angela Conway.
