GTA Franchise Not Leaving The PSP

Sony has no plans to remove the popular GTA franchise from their sleek portable unit.

According to what SCEA head of PSP marketing John Koller told MTV Multiplayer, GTA is "a tremendous franchise for PlayStation in general," which means PSP owners will once again see a handheld installment on the PSP in the near future. Said Koller:

"No one should sleep on that franchise. That’s a tremendous franchise for PlayStation in general. We’ve had two that are the top two sellers on PSP right now. So, there’s definitely continued conversations with ['GTA' development studio] Rockstar on all their brands. That’s nothing that’s left the PlayStation family."

As for what Koller thought when he heard that a new GTA would be headed to the DS, he didn't seem too fazed. "To be honest, Rockstar has to manage their business as they see fit," he said. "We're very good partners with them." Obviously, Rockstar is only seeking to taste a bigger piece of that ever-expanding gaming pie; they just released Lost and Damned for the Xbox 360, for example. It only makes sense to bring one of the most popular video game franchises in history to as many different platforms as humanly possible, and of course, that does include the PlayStation brand. It's just the way of big business that GTA would branch out, but the PSP certainly won't lose it.

So does this mean we will likely see another GTA Stories game for the PSP? I sure hope so.

I'd like to know how that quote translates into there being a new GTA for the PSP.

It's not technically saying that, but Sony is obviously still talking to Rockstar about future games for the PSP. That's not saying that there will be one any time soon.

^Agreed. There's no saying that there will be a sure GTA for PSP.

But if there's a new GTA for PSP, it would be good.

Well, at least it tells us that Sony isn't planning on losing the GTA franchise for the PSP anytime soon.

Yeah, as far as possible I want GTA not to leave PSP(while it's still not faced out) or the whole Sony.

I REALLY hope that there will be another GTA on PSP. I bought a PSP just for Vice City Stories. And now I hardly ever use it, except once a year when I get the urge to play VCS.

It is most likely that a GTA V Era game will be released on PSP. That way, more people can play and/or access GTA and that means Rockstar will earn more money and fans, and gain a bigger reputation.
