Vercetti Thug Posted May 7, 2009 Share Posted May 7, 2009 Suddenly, i'm getting a message in the AVG 8.0 Free screen that resident shield is not active because the driver is not found. On top of that, ID protection cant be activated without paying for something, and update manager will not turn on (says update needs restart). NotYouHaha Posted May 7, 2009 Share Posted May 7, 2009 Well, I have a easy solution about the resident shield thing, which is simply a reinstall. Here are the others: ID protection, as far as I know, is a feature that you have to purchase. I bet they just put that icon there to get potential buyers. When update manager says it needs a restart, simply restart your computer. If it stays, I don't know. Try Google or the AVG website if you haven't try them already or if my solutions don't work. WRX22B1998 Posted May 8, 2009 Share Posted May 8, 2009 yeah it could be that, however Im still running 8.0 i dont have any problems. yeah when it says to restart, you have to restart (click start->turn off-> restart) i remember someone had this problem because they thought restart was same as shutdown and turn on later... :S the easiest way to fix it is probably just uninstall and then get the new version though Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MrLlamaLlama Posted May 9, 2009 Share Posted May 9, 2009 Make sure your software is set to automatically update itself every 4 hours, or right click on the system tray icon and click 'update now' to do it manually.
