PC Compatibility

Recommended Posts

I decided I'm going to get Vice City on PC and I wondered if my Laptop will be able to Play it. I only bought it about six months ago. Its a Dell Inspiron I6400 Genuine Intel ® CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz and 0.99 GB of RAM. I have Direct X 9. I'm not very clued up on PC gaming so I don't know if you need to know anymore than that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

::Minumum::

# 800 MHz Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon

# 128 MB of RAM

# 8X speed CD/DVD drive

# 915 MB of free disk space

# (+ 635 MB if video card does NOT support DirectX Texture Compression)

# 32 MB video card with DirectX 9.0 compatibile drivers

# Sound Card with DirectX 9.0 compatible drivers

He's probably got onboard graphics.... but yeah, if you do mind telling us how much those would be? And eh, I think he should be fine on CPU speed, honestly.

I believe the T2300 is a CoreDuo CPU. I have an Intel T2300 in my laptop and that's a core duo running @ 1.66 GHz ... especially since he has a laptop also.

Can you get the videocard make and model? Video cards always seem to be where video games bottleneck.

"""Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950"" I think this is the graphics card. I believe it to be intergrated graphics? What do you think? will Vice City play well?

You could go to run and type "dxdiag" and tell us what you get for your graphic card. And like I said, I'm positive it works on a only 6 months old laptop. I mean, look at how old Vice City is :|

On the display tab on Direct X Diagnostic tool underdevice it says :

name: Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family

chip type: Intel® Calistoga Graphics Controller

DAC type: Internal

Approx. Total Memory: 224.0 MB

Current Display Mode: 1280 x 800 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor

Under direct X features i have:

DirectDraw Aceceleration: enabled

Direct3D Acceleration: enabled

AGP Texture Acceleration: Not Available (it is greyd out)

Would not having the AGP Texture Accelerator working affect Vice City??

What do you guys think?

You got more memory then my graphic card has. And usually cards with more memory are better. So just buy it. It's really going to work. And if it doesn't, I'l eat my shoe. And my shoe stinks, trust me.

I'll hold you to that. lol. Thanks for everything Jace.

I'll intsall it tommorow and provide updates.
