Sherman
I like people that're like him, they make MY job a little bit easier. But off of that, I have no idea. Maybe go for a re-install?
Slayer
Are you sure that the joystick is properly installed? I have one about the same age as yours, it has game port. Make sure you have enabled it in BIOS, my game port wasn't so it didn't work.

Pandora
Ow, right. With the gamepad option enabled you can't aim manual anymore. It will auto lock on to a target. Manual aiming with a controller really sucks
Righty
Can't you just unplug the flight joystick when you dont' need it? I'm not too sure what you're trying to ask.
Jared
Why have we got two of these topics? . Locked the other one since this is more popular.

Chalk
So you have tried unplugging the joystick when not in use and the gamepad still doesn't work? If only the gamepad is plugged in, check the Controller options in the windows control panel. If it works there then check the in-game options. Otherwise check up on Google for that particular game pad and its availability and troubleshooting options.

The gamepad works when the fligth stick is out, but its a pain keep disconnecting it when you have a crap desk like mine is. (lol)
Chalk
The only other thing I could suggest would be to check if you can assign a primary and secondary controller. Then just change this setting (it'd be in the control panel) when you switch the games. Otherwise there may be a tool that you could find that can do this. TR Jason X
the stick will not work only the gamepad will work you have to go on where it shows you what the buttons are and press what you want the buttons to be on your gamepad
