  1. The most stupid thing about this situation, is that this is something like the tenth title in the series, do the censors really think that fans buying this game don't know what they are buying into? For those who don't know i.e. parents, it really is their own fault for not reading the warnings. They wouldn't buy their 9 year old a copy of The texas Chainsaw Massacre or a Ron Jeremy box set, so they have to wise up & realise that video games are a form of media, which like films are sometimes aimed at adult audiences.
  2. That's what I'm talking about, Niko's looking pretty dapper in that outfit, makes a change from the tracksuits. I hope that the arcade in the background is fully interactive.
  3. That screen with the stairs n the sunlight through the blinds looks sexy. It's scenes like that which r gona add to the atmosphere of the game.
  4. Yeah that would kinda suck. Size looks pretty good. All this new info is really good, gonna go read one of the detailed ones later. BTW doesn't the last picture remind you guys of Pulp Fiction? That's probably because R* are heavily influenced by popular films. In Vice City there is a shot from inside the boot (trunk) of the car as Tommy & Lance tool up, which is very similar to the shot where Samuel L & Travolta do the same in Pulp Fiction. In SA there is a mission where you are chased through the aquaducts of down town Los Santos which is a very obvious nod to the infamous chase scene from Terminator 2. I hope that R* continue to borrow ideas from movies in GTA IV, as it's good fun & I think it adds a bit of novelty to the game.
  5. That sounded like a very possitive review, not only did it give us some idea of what's to come, but it also suggests that R* have really gone out of their way to lose the repetative mission styles that became all too familiar with SA. Some really great stuff that I was pleased to hear about was -The on-board police computers being used for missions -Being able to get drunk'd -The new targeting system -Being able to shoot out your windscreen & shoot forward (finaly) -You can listen to the radio on your phone & also that a slick frame rate & draw distance won't be letting the game down
  6. R* could use the realism angle to make the purchasing of cars an option that more people might take. By making the luxury/desirable cars extremely rare, i.e. you will spot one specific model maybe once a week (game time). So if you have money burning a hole in your pocket you can bypass all the hunting around & simply purchase the sports coupe of your dreams in no time at all. I think that car show rooms would really add to the character of the game & just because they are selling cars doesn't mean that you can't steal from them (at the exspense of quite a few police stars).
  7. ...So close! On a serious note tho, I think given the supposed depth of the game I doubt, one more little trailer is gona blow the plot wide open. On top of that, curiosity is just gona get the better of me & I'm gona watch anything R* release between now & the game's release.
  8. I think the Police will be a lot more methodical in their approach, they won't just run at you like headless chickens. I would like to see more specialist units though, such as sharpshooters, bomb squads, undercovers/detectives, Police Dogs & I'm still undecided about female officers. I know it would add to the realism, but I got a bit of a Leon policy going on.
  9. I think there will be another trailer, as the last one contained no details of the release date, which leaves room for another to slot in & sign off.
  10. I would imagine that if they are stepping up the realism, then the cars you do steal would stick around. The impression I got was that GTA IV would be less of a consequence free environment than in previous titles, so instead of being able to get away with all kinds of crazy sh*t, you would have to be more calculated, only committing crimes when they are strictly necessary. So in short, yeah I think it would be highly likely & in more in keeping with this new direction, if they made it easier for you to keep hold of your acquisitions.
  11. Good find if it is the map, but if it is, it's going to be interesting to see what happens at the points where the landmass reaches the edge of the map, as all the other 3D maps have been surrounded by water.
  12. -I'd like to see a mission similar to the Bad Boys II car chase involving the car carrier dumping vehicles as you try to chase it down. I think it would be a great way to show off the new physics engine & showcase the quality of vehicle damage. -It would be good to make use of the tall buildings with a few sniper missions. With various methods of escape, such as base jumping from the roof, jumping from a window & hang on to the bottom of a waiting helicopter or making your way across rooftops either on foot or on a sanchez. -I've always said that I wanted a fully functioning prison as it would add loads of possibilities, missions where you have to get inside & break some one out or kill someone in there for example. -Similarly a hospital would be great. One possibility: Roman is criticly injured in a previous mission & is laid up in hospital. You know the guilty party will be in to finish off the job, so you disguise yourself as a doctor or nurse (depending on your preference) to take back the element of suprise & stealthily wipe out Roman's assailents. This one's a bit silly but, if R* are still in the mood for a few comedy missions, it would be great to impersonate a surgeon & covertly gain access to the OR (Opperating Room/Theatre) while a target is laying open on the table. So when the head surgeon is done & asks you to close them up, you place a small incendatry device inside the patient, turning them into a walking bomb for you to detonate when most effective.
  13. It wudn't put me off the game, but the little touches can make the game extra special.
  14. Cinematic replay would be sweet, especialy if you could make proper use of the PS3 hard drive to save instant replays of your greatest/funniest/weirdest moments in Liberty City (similar to saving goals in pro evo). We have already heard that weapons will be concealable (if that's even a word) to help avoid ped/police attention. So I would imagine if R* are going for that level of detail, they will also think about limiting Nicko's arsenal to a reasonable size. If they have stuck with the shooting skill system, it might be possible for you to start low, but then increase the number of weapons that you can carry/conceal about your person. I think the political commentary is undoubtable, it wouldn't be GTA without R* taking a side swipe at the U.S. government. It's almost too much information at this stage, I'm gona be playing GTA IV in my dreams, I really can't wait
  15. [quote name='fatalgamer' date='Dec 11 2007, 02:59 PM' post='215856' No, they would'nt do that I don't think. This GTA IV is about the present/future, a future YOU determine. All the game after this will be about the present timing. They are marking a new beginning with GTA IV, a fresh start. So I don't think they will go back, unless it's a PSP game. Maybe your right but that sounds pretty similar to the scenario when GTA III came to the PS2, Rock* were bang in the present, then suddenly released a game set in the 80's & despite much initial sceptecism, it's turned out to be one of their strongest titles.
  16. First bold: NewTturismo resembles the ferrari 360 / 430... 2nd bold.. lies. Ultimate SSC aero T pwns Veyron, as does Bristol fighter T ( with engine limiter disabled) What I meant was that no one requested the Cheetah in this thread. I just checked out that car & that is a tasty ride, but the record is pretty new so I think you can forgive me for thinking the Bugatti still held the title.
  17. Maybe I missed it, but I can't believe no one has asked for the cheetah or at least an equevolent to a modern Ferrari.Others I defo want to see... -Bullet -Stinger -Monster (with realistic crushing effects) -Bullet proof patriots (as a standard) -Sabre/Sabre Turbo -NRG (According to the box art it will be an NRG 900RR) -Jest Ski also want to see versions of... -Bentley Continental (a saloon/sedan car with good looks & the power to beat a muscle car) -Buggati Veyron (Fastest production car in the world, need I say more?)
  18. I think it would be amazing to see a next gen version of VC but, I'm not sure if the storyline would ever live up to Tommy Vercetti's. If SA was to be revisited, I think it would be kool to set it in the 70's & play as a Steve Mcqueen (Bullit) type character, I think that the retro styling would be awesome & there would be a whole new range of radio stations & satire to explore. In an ideal world tho, the next GTA would be set across Europe, with a handful of cities capturing the essence of a few of it's capitals & main attractions. That way every gamers destiny really could be unique, as you would not be bound to create your criminal/business empire in one specific city.
  19. ... Cops appear by magic- running without caution towards certain death. Extortionate hookers- who charge the earth for sitting in a car with you as it bounces. Same colour re-sprays- which some how confuse the cops.
  20. A great question & some great points being made. In the future, I think GTA is going to struggle to find a balance between the extremes of what gamers want. Rock* are trying to provide a consequence free environment, whilst factoring in the rules & conditions of the real world. At one point there is not enough detail or realism & at another no fun. I'm all in favour of progress, however if the game were to become ultra realistic with all the same outcomes as in the real world, gamers won't go about playing GTA with the same level of inhibition & as a result probably wouldn't have as much fun. The point of these games is that they are a departure, where we play out fantasy scenarios that we would never have the bottle to do in reality. If you went about playing GTA in the same God fearing way that you live your life, you probably wouldn't dare steal a car, let alone shoot a cop...so what would be the point? Luckily Rock* seem to be awesome at compromising. In the case of Liberty City instead of straight copying NYC they have taken the fun elements & arranged them to make the best gaming experience. In the same way I'm trusting them to do the thinking for us & pick the fun elements of reality & put them all together to make a more enjoyable game. P.S. No more cars exploding when they are on their roof please.
  21. Nice pics, I wonder if all ped cars will have personal affects like the fluffy dice? I can't wait to drop people off of tall buildings & see what kind of damage it does to them & the surroundings.
  22. The best thing about this article is that it points out how the graphics are merely the tip of the iceberg & what's really going to set this game apart is the level of realism & immersion that will be possible. It's going to be the little differences & the attention to detail, which will make GTA IV so much more enjoyable than the previous titles (I'm hoping). I really want this to be a game that I can keep going back to, because unfortunately I don't think SA was. Once the missions were all done, there wasn't much left to do except start the storyline over again.
  23. This is gona make me sound like a right sleaze merchant, but I just have to point out, that if you want to see a true testiment to the rag doll physics...look at the way the ropey stripper's boobs flap around as she pole dances. Had to be said.
  24. Yeah the crashes will be interesting to see, I'm constantly gona be getting out of my ride & checking the damage to the bodywork. It really is time that Rock* upped the level of detail concerning vehicle damage, I would much rather see that they have really worked on that aspect of the game before they even consider collateral damage & destroying buildings etc. I think exploring the city in general will be a great experience, from what previews are telling us, I think that there will be so much to interact with & with the graphics looking as slick as they do, I will enjoy simply cruising round, checking the sites.
  25. Physics, just interacting with the surroundings, I really want to get a good look at the water & see how it changes when you jump in, cos in past games it was pretty poor.
