well at first it made my game crash because of the mods i had on it then when i reinstalled, not much changed from before.. maybe like 3fps increase, but that's about it. nothing negative nothing positive on my end.

I posted this at GTAGaming but figured you guys would be interested, too, so here it goes... Only a couple days into the release and modders are already at it! I've test out this method and it works perfectly on my system, which is the retail copy of GTA IV (not Steam). Here's how to mod the game: Download aru's File Modding Ability Patch - this is a small, but powerful tool, because it will basically trick your game into thinking that all the files are original (GTA IV won't run unless the original files are running). Figure out what you want to mod and locate the file. For this simple example, I made a fast and powerful taxi, which is just a modification of the handling.dat file, which is located at GTA IV\common\data.handling.dat. Right click the handling.dat file, choose Properties, and make sure that Read-Only is unchecked. Open the handling.dat file in a text editor like Notepad. Find the line that begins with COMET, it will look something like this: COMET 1450.0 6.5 85 0.0 0.0 -0.21 0.2 5 0.24 1.0 160.0 0.34 0.66 0.7 35.0 1.50 1.25 12.5 0.12 0.48 2.4 1.6 1.8 0.10 -0.15 0.0 0.5 1.0 1.0 0.6 1.5 0.0 60000 40440010 1 1 Copy the whole line. Find the lines that begin with TAXI and TAXI2. Delete these two lines, and in their place insert the COMET line twice. Change the first pasted COMET line to TAXI, and the second to TAXI2. What we basically did here was give the Taxis the same properties as the Comet. Change the first value on both the TAXI and TAXI2 lines from 1450.0 to 99999.0, therefore making your lines like this: TAXI 99999.0 6.5 85 0.0 0.0 -0.21 0.2 5 0.24 1.0 160.0 0.34 0.66 0.7 35.0 1.50 1.25 12.5 0.12 0.48 2.4 1.6 1.8 0.10 -0.15 0.0 0.5 1.0 1.0 0.6 1.5 0.0 60000 40440010 1 1 TAXI2 99999.0 6.5 85 0.0 0.0 -0.21 0.2 5 0.24 1.0 160.0 0.34 0.66 0.7 35.0 1.50 1.25 12.5 0.12 0.48 2.4 1.6 1.8 0.10 -0.15 0.0 0.5 1.0 1.0 0.6 1.5 0.0 60000 40440010 1 1 Save the handling.dat file, close it, and run GTA IV. Find a Taxi and you should notice that it's a lot more powerful than before! And that's it. Well, they probably included this mod checker so that you don't go play online with unlimited weapons and God Mode or something like that

It's actually pretty cool. You can basically get the camera at any angle you want. Not only is there free roam, but you can also fix it on a character's body (not just Niko, it lets you choose from pretty much any NPC around you at the time) and have it rotate around cars, etc. I made a little sample video:

This guy at GTAForums has already modded the Steam version. He created an application that keeps the GTA IV Launcher from checking whether or not the game has been modified before starting up (out-of-the-box, this function is implemented, and your game won't start if you make a change in the files). He said he modded the pistol to have shotgun properties, basically a simple weapon data file mod, but still cool. I tried his app out on the retail version and it didn't work, guessing that the Steam version is a bit different. Nothing major yet, but it's definitely promising, and exciting! Tesla is THE MAN. I've always had a fascination with lightning and the sorts, and Tesla is the master of electricity. Also as Chris said, The Prestige ruled. I once watched a video in my high school physics class that said Tesla castrated himself because he couldn't stand the idea of sexuality. I like it - nothing amazing, but definitely an improvement. The amount of "cutesieness" that they're going for sort of bugs me, but it's okay, I'll get over it I just use my Xbox to play videogames, I never take advantage of any of these other silly features, so I doubt this update is really going to affect my Xbox usage. To me it's just a nice new interface!

Y'all already have annoyingly humongous signatures here anyway - 800x200 would be a bit nuts Although there aren't TOO many people that still actually use 800x600, there are others, like myself, who don't keep their browser maximized. I'm usually running on 1280x800 (where an 800px sig would be a problem) or 1440x900 (where it wouldn't be so much of a problem). EDIT: That being said, I just realized I can turn off sigs.
