  1. Sorry, I do not know of any tutorials or guides to point you to. I am more of a self-taught modeler myself. Perhaps there some links in the modding help sections of the forums that can work for you.
  2. What??? What else is there? How do you cope?

  4. Gee, no kidding? Just trying to save him the trouble of bothering with it if he would rather not pay for it in the first place.
  5. Perhaps you have not gotten to this point yet, but have you tried exporting a dff model yet? I have always had the impression that Zmodeler will not export without payment first. Perhaps you have that taken care of already, just saying.
  6. Different gangs can be put in any areas where there are pedestrians, mostly by modifying the "pedgrp.dat" data file. I have populated entire blocks with nothing but gangs then sat in my bulletproof Patriot and enjoyed watching them mow each other down for hours of nonstop amusement. "Default.ide", "ped.dat", and "pedstats.dat" can also be tweaked somewhat to produce different results. There are several mods available that do this already. As far as what weapons they carry I am not sure; I have never tried making that modification. That could be part of the "main.scm" if I remember correctly from dabbling with other stuff, which would require some scripting knowledge to make changes. I doubt if it is "hard coded" into the game, but perhaps someone else knows more about that.
  7. I couldn't lead flies to freshly pinched lunch loaf. LOL
  8. You do not really need to post a screen shot. It most likely works just fine for the character models that it is intended for. But if you feel the need to then go right ahead. You are having problems getting the mod to work with CJ because the mod is made as a single texture/skin for a single mesh character model. One mesh - one texture. The CJ player model uses multiple meshes and textures for each item of clothing that he wears: one for pants, one for a shirt, one for shoes, one for a hat, one for shades, etc etc etc. To make the mod work for use with CJ, you would have to basically chop the single character mesh from the mod into pieces and make new clothing items for him to put on: a pair of trousers with the army texture, a shirt with the army texture, boots with the army texture, a hat/helmet with the army texture, blah blah blah - yada yada yada. A possible easier alternative would be to re-texture CJs unclothed body meshes with the army mod texture and call it clothing, but it would probably turn out about 10 pixels shy of putrid; "ugly" if your English is not so good. Either way, it is going to take a bit of effort to make it work for your purposes. I hope this clears up any confusion for you about why the mod is not working for you as you would like it to. MM
  9. Hey, EiNoRaS. Thought that I would reply here. Sorry for the delay, but I have been even busier than usual lately. Your mods and skins/textures are looking pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing more soon. MM.

  10. SA hfypro > VC HFYMD This little number did not need as much of a radical overhaul as some of the others did. Just skimpied up her clothes a bit, curvied up her curves slightly, and tidied up the mesh. Did not notice until now that she probably has the most revealing "southern exposure" that I have done so far. Gots to keep things... interesting I guess.
  11. Changing clothes (i.e. for a mission), eating, adding muscle or fat, etc would almost certainly be difficult to work around if you were to attempt swapping the player models.
  12. Not if one knows how to use it; i.e. not just scribbling freehand or swapping 8 bit colors with the paint bucket. I find it very useful myself.
  13. Without a doubt Vice City. Possibly just because it is the easiest to modify for my purposes. San Andreas is too large of an environment and too complex for my tastes. GTA III on the other hand is a bit too... "generic", borderline "primitive" one might say. But they're all good. Have not played any others besides those three.
  14. Eighteen+ but not by choice. Afraid of laws (ratings)? Hardly. I would not doubt that more 18-s play because of the 18+ rating. Ratings are something for uppity yuppies to feel good about while blaming something else besides themselves for their kids not "turning out quite right".
  15. Yes, it will most definitely spawn again - as well as all other safe house pickups that you accumulate. Unfortunately, GTA III does not include the luxury of a world map.
  16. Open the main.scm with something like Sanny Builder and edit the mission scripts. If you do not know how to write script then you might as well continue bashing your head against the brick wall.
  17. Basically re-script the entire main.scm. Or make a new one.
  18. Whatever it is, it ain't no French tickler.
  19. @Mpilk901: Well, I can kind of see why. It kind of looks like a slightly over-sized Desert Eagle with a clip and grip. This pic came from a website called "Just Pistols". In the movie world, which I realize can be exaggerated, it is not uncommon to be fired with one hand. Never thought that I would initiate a discussion about weapon specifics before. Especially with staff. LOL
  20. Okay. That's what I thought, but did not want to be presumptuous. Just checking. Glad that you like. Yeah, I agree. Mercedes was okay in Vice City considering the gaming technology available at that time. The real proof of how "crude" the models actually are is when they are opened in a 3D editor. Even the models of Candy Suxxx, arguably the hottest female in the game, look borderline "silly" when viewed in an editor. Which, I suppose, is why I have taken upon myself the arduous task of "hottening" them up for those of us who still like to stomp around in Vice City. Keep in mind though that this topic is more of a review/feedback type of thing. None of the ones shown here are available for download... yet, just the ones in my previous mod versions. These will be the best; hopefully there will still be enough interest around to make it seem worthwhile. Thanks for your input. MM
  21. Okay then. Thanks to the help of two staffers, now I remember... I think. Once I had a name for it I did a search and found that variations of it have been used in several games like Call of Duty, VC Stories, Saints Row 2, and SOCOM Navy Seals 2 - which is where I think that I remember seeing it before. I have also been clued in that this particular model was most likely a beta in it's Vice City form. Also found some interesting, and somewhat heated debate, on it's classification. In some areas it is considered a pistol, but in others - even higher jurisdiction, it is classified as an AOW (Any Other Weapon). AOWs do not fit in with typical classifications made by the ATF Bureau. Also considered an SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) because it has a forward grip. Truth be told, after years of gaming... fun I have hardly given any thought to which weapons are based off of real ones, especially specific model types such as this one. Thanks for your help folks. Mystery solved. MM
  22. Ouch! That bad, huh? Bummer. Hope that you can get it cleared up. Are you referring to the default models of Mercedes? Or the remade ones that I did?
