TM, I half agree. As we've said before, nobody has a "right" to use this forum. You shouldn't think of it as being banned, but that the rest of you are allowed to use Chris' private website. If you abuse it, disrupt it or ignore his staff, then that permission is taken away. 4 years ago, TGTAP was a very different place. The staff did whatever they wanted, they banned people every day just because they annoyed them, and people were unbanned the next day by a different staff member. It was chaos. Now, we have proper guidelines, mature staff, and even a Restricted group so that people don't have to just be banned. However, Raybob is not most-people. Saying he's going to leave then not leaving is a CLASSIC cry for attention. Most normal people would eventually get the message and leave, but Raybob seems to want to stay. I'm not sure whether he wants to be an equal part of this great community, or if he just wants to be king of the noobs. If you DO want to stay, live by the rules (like everyone else manages to), and we'll get on just fine. We're not asking you to be saints, just don't be a dick. How hard can it be? I think we've done everything we can to help Raybob. We've given him dozens of chances, never banned him, explained what he's done wrong. What more can we do? It's entirely his choice which way it goes now. TM - I agree we should do the right thing for this forum and all its members. If the forums would be a better place without Raybob, then banning him would improve the experience for everyone else. That is the line he is about to cross. Raybob - You will not be taken out of the Restricted group until you have proved yourself to be a decent member of this community. I promise you won't stay in it forever, but which direction you go in is up to you.

Moved to the Lounge, to allow general discussion of the Restricted group and its members to take place (rather than just reporting a problem). Fun & Games is only for fun non-serious topics ("what is your favourite XYZ") or games. The Lounge is the best place to discuss general things about the forum.

That's not true. You don't have to be really nice to be people to not-get-banned. He made a light-hearted funny comment because you said you were leaving then quickly changed your mind. No rule against that. You are in the restricted group for swearing, making duplicate topics, making useless silly posts, swearing, making stupid one-word posts, making pointless topics etc etc etc. It's a shame that you're mad at me. If it had been any other staff member, you would have been banned a LONG time ago. Would you prefer that? I'm sure it could be arranged.

It's not what I want, it's what the rules need you to do, and what almost EVERYONE else on this website manages to do. You just need to not offend anyone else, not to break any rules, not to swear, not to be a dick. Within those boundaries, you can do what you want - post lots, be active, be helpful, make stuff, or don't be active - it's up to you. I'm not going to force you to apologise, since that isn't what we need all members to do (as per the rules), but that might be a good decision for you to take. Again - your choice. Once you manage to behave normally (like everyone else) you can be a normal member again (like everyone else). Until then, you will have to live with being Restricted. It's really NOT that hard, I promise you.

Exactly as TM says, all we want is for you (and all Restricted members) to "follow the rules, or at least be nice to other members, rather than be cocky like you are." The reason the Restricted group exists is to give you guys a chance, because we know that you COULD be decent members and contribute to this forum. Two years ago we would have just banned you without a second thought. We don't HAVE to give you a second chance, so if you abuse our generosity, we will still ban you. It's your choice which way this goes. And to prove my point, I can announce that Steam is now being allowed to return to the status of a normal member. He understood why he was Restricted, and has corrected his behaviour. Not quite good enough to be praised, but a good start! Just don't do this again.

You need to make sure the savegame is for the same version of San Andreas that you have. For example, a savegame for Version 1 will not work on Version 3 (which is most likely what you have). You need to either get a V3 savegame, or downgrade your game to the appropriate version.

A lot of people here don't speak English very well - they don't all end up in the Restricted group. We don't punish you for that, that would be stupid.

Like we've said, the current server is failing a lot. We will be moving very soon. Until then, it will continue to fail a lot.

I don't think Raybob has a clue what's going on. L-Ric is right - nobody has a "right" to be on this forum. It is provided by Chris for free, and subject to you following the rules. If Chris (or his staff) don't want to let you use the forum or all of its features, then we can do that. You have completely ignored the rules and staff, so you have ignored the terms of your free use of this site. We've even tried to be nice by not banning you (which we could easily and legitimately do), giving you a second chance, and another chance. Yet you STILL complain that you don't have as many features as possible, and you want to Staff to go around cleaning up for you. So you want MORE from us for free whilst you continue to abuse the forum and ignore its staff? That's totally fair. You've run out of chances. You have a grand total of zero remaining. Have a week's suspension. Now either STFU or GTFO.

Your continued mockery of the Restricted group and the staff of this forum do not bode well for your membership here. Take it seriously, or leave.

Buying a complete PC then replacing the insides is such a waste of money! If you insist on ordering a Dell, at least order a GOOD one so you don't have to throw away parts of it.

I feel like I'm losing out either way...

A couple of hours ago the UK threat level was raised from 'substantial' to 'severe' in response to the failed attack in Detroit at Christmas. That means they expect an attack, but have no intel to say there's an immediate threat. Not sure how useful that is. It probably conveys some extra powers to security services to search people/places, and gives them a way to say "told you so" if anything happened. I don't see the issue with full-body scanners at airports. The screens are watched by people who can't see you, and the images aren't stored. The problem is deciding how much detail they can reveal without intruding on some weird notion of privacy. Bear in mind these shouts of privacy are coming from people with public twitter accounts, forum accounts with their dates of birth, facebook showing their school.

By "member" I clearly meant people in the "members" group. Obviously banned members can't vote.

TGTAP was down earlier, so it might be that. It has happened a few times recently (couple of times a week). If it's any more often than that, make sure you can get on all other websites, and use downforeveryoneorjustme.com to check. If it is down for everyone, then that's our fault. We have a long-term solution planned to stop this from happening. If it's down for "just you", then that's your fault, problems with your own PC or home network, and there's nothing we can do to help If it's just one page that is down, let us know.

Would have helped if you provided the link, and mentioned which page you tried got linked from, and said whether it happened on all pages or just that. That exact link works for me. TGTAP was down briefly, so it might work now.
