It's obvious that TGTAP is a mere shadow of its former self. Back in April 2008, we were getting 13,000 posts per month. Even in August 2009 we were getting over 3000. But in November 2010, there were just 168 posts on this entire forum. However, new user registrations are still high - 600 in November 2010, with every month varying between 400 and 800. Do you think this site should be active again? Do you think we should try to re-engage with the community? How do we do this? Please answer the poll above, and reply with your thoughts!

I do. It was hosted on Wikia for a few years, but they were shit and tried to take over. So I've moved GTW away from wikia, but they're still running a copy of it and stopping the visitors coming to our new site.

The sites are not merging. User accounts will remain separate. Neither, but closer to the latter. We are creating a partnership between GTW and TGTAP. We will be sharing resources and links, and encouraging members to get involved in both. Might be a couple of weeks before the integration takes shape, but the wiki is up and running and needs your input!

Hi all! We need some signatures making for our users to advertise Grand Theft Wiki on whatever sites/forums they go on. So as a challenge, we're looking for signature images ranging from userbar size to full-size sigs, bearing the Grand Theft Wiki logo. I'll give you freedom to choose their content, but having a range of ones for different games would be awesome. Any takers?

There are three completely different things in this. 1) Camp, flamboyant people - they can be annoying to me too. The people who wear pink spandex and have camp voices and are obsessed with clothes/makeup etc. I don't identify with that AT ALL, and it has NOTHING to do with homosexuality. 2) People who are unnecessarily sexual in public - things like kissing madly or groping or being suggestive, slapping people's bums and that type of thing. That's just creepy. I don't want to see old people or fat people kissing in public, nor two women, just like you dont want to see two men kissing. 3) People who are gay - they come in all different types, just like straight people. Some gay people are camp, most are not. Some straight people are camp, most are not. Homosexuality has nothing to do with those things.

You're saying someones sexuality should be secret because it's not related to their work in the military. Given that, all soldiers should be banned from talking about their wives/girlfriends and children. Those things are equally unrelated and might upset other people, such as those who don't have wives/girlfriends/children, or homosexuals. Or are you saying its fine for straight people to talk about whatever they want and disgust gay people; but it should be illegal for gay people to talk about what they want if it disgusts anyone straight?

I can (sort of) understand disagreeing with homosexuality, many people do, but making you want to cut your eyes out? That's harsh. What do you mean by an "openly gay performance"? Are you suggesting that everyone who is openly gay is like this? Because that's just not true. Even 99% of the people who you can TELL are gay aren't anything like that. What about "straight-acting" gays like me? Do I disgust you just by existing? Would you refuse to talk to me just because you know? Would you vomit on me if I did this with my partner in a monogamous long-term and very normal relationship?

You didn't really explain it very well. Do you mean pick a forum member for everyone to ask questions to? Users nominate themselves, other people vote for which one they want to ask questions to, then ask questions, they answer, then we all do it again?

For background reference, GTW gets more visits than TGTAP (if you ignore the download section). We have 43,000 pages, 270,000 edits, and 10,000 different users have edited the wiki. So yeah, it should help both.

Grand Theft Wiki is leaving Wikia. I have proposed a partnership with TGTAP. So GTW would link to TGTAP for all discussion, downloads, help, tech support, community stuff etc. TGTAP would use GTW as the reference for all content and articles. This wouldn't be a merge, just a heavily-integrated partnership. It would bring a lot of GTW users to TGTAP, and vice versa. At the same time, TGTAP would be given a good seeing-to and the overhaul it badly badly needs. Trying to get Chris to agree

I wonder whether you actually know any gay people, or just believe what you see on TV. I've never been in a gay pride march or anything like that. I don't wear pink, I don't sing or dance, I'm not a hairdresser or a model, I don't have a camp voice, I don't do anything sterotypically gay. The only gay thing I do is have a boyfriend, and even then I don't flaunt him around everywhere or do inappropriate things in public. However, that doesn't mean I'm treated the same as a straight person. I should be able to kiss my boyfriend in public, just like a straight couple can, but I can't because at the very least I'd get funny looks and tuts, but I could realistically get beaten up or even killed for it. It happens. I should be able to marry my boyfriend, should we decide to do that, just like a straight couple can. But I can't. Nor can we adopt children, have the same rights, or have the same tax benefits that straight couples can. If I tell someone I'm gay, I quite often get told "please don't hit on me". That drives me INSANE! Do straight guys hit on every girl they see just because they like women? No. Just because I like guys (not girls) doesnt mean I like you. In fact, the chances are you're incredibly ugly to me and I can't wait to look somewhere else. And let's not forget the sterotypes of promiscuity, sexual deviancy and being disease ridden. Most gay people have LESS sex than straight people because they can't come out at school/college/work and they struggle to find someone else gay. In San Francisco I think sexually active gay people are fractionally more likely to have HIV/AIDS, but I don't, and I wish people wouldn't ask if I do. Although you seem to understand that it doesn't make a difference to our job, you seem to think we want to make everything pink and gay. That's not the case. Just in case you were wondering, I was in the military, and I am a police officer. I agree that there's no point in telling everyone you meet. I never told my colleagues at work, because it wasn't relevant. But I shouldn't have to lie about it. I shouldn't have to pretend to stare at breasts, and answer questions about which intern I'd like to bend over the photocopier. I should be able to tell people "well actually I like guys, not girl", just like "well actually I like blondes, not brunettes". If it is relevant, I should be able to tell people, and it shouldn't be a big deal. I shouldn't be forced to listen to people talking about fags and queers like we're all a bunch of rapists and pedophiles without being able to speak up. But thanks to people like you, I have to lie. Some people deal with this opression by going out on big parades. Some people flaunt their sexuality in their attire and demeanour. I just get on with it, and try to change peoples attitudes positively. So stop treating us as all the same, all one community, all fitting the stereotype, all working together to turn the world pink. Please don't assume that I'm going to rape your children or dance my way to the bar to buy a girly cocktail. We're not the same.

We don't have the US Constitution here, lol. Nor specifically the Miranda rights. However, we do have a similar law which says the same thing. Our police give this caution: You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention, when questioned, something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence. This is a quote from a site which explains it: Where a PCSO has reason to believe that a person has committed a relevant offence he or she may require that person to supply their name or address. A relevant offence is defined as either a fixed penalty offence or an offence which has caused injury or alarm to another person or the loss of or damage to property. If the individual concerned refuses to give a name or address or the CSO suspects that the details that have been given are false then the CSO may 'require the person to wait with them for up to 30 minutes pending the arrival of a constable'. Alternatively the CSO may accompany the person to a police station with that person's agreement. Any person who fails to wait with the CSO as required or who tries to make off is guilty of an offence. CSOs may use reasonable force in order to detain a person, but they are not necessarily supplied with handcuffs, batons or CS spray. They are useful. It means we can have a visible presence in the street, without having to pay hundreds of thousands for a Police Officer. If you factor in the higher salary, extensive training and equipment, the cost of a Police Officer is much higher than a PCSO. When a Police Officer would only be patrolling a quiet neighbourhood or city centre, there's no point paying for a Police Officer, a PCSO is the best solution here - useful, ideal for their role, and cheaper than wasting a Police Officer on uneventful patrols. The problem is when people don't realise that PCSOs are not Police Officers or even trying to be. They get ridiculed for not having full police powers. They serve a different purpose and don't NEED police powers.

This is a common misconception about PCSOs. They aren't meant to be Police Officers, nor "half" police or anything like that. They do a completely different job, yet because they wear a reflective jacket people think they're trying to be Police. PCSOs are there to "be there" for the community, and to gather intelligence. They don't have police powers because they are NOT law enforcement. Think of them more like school crossing guards or "ask me for help" people at an airport, except they're there for police-related business. More like assistants in a shop than the security guard. We can't afford to have a copper on every street corner, and that would be a complete waste of money. The regular officers have to go around to response jobs, and then it means public areas just aren't patrolled anymore. PCSOs are a good halfway, but NOT a replacement or pretend police officer. PCSOs actually have the same powers of arrest as any other citizen. However, only some areas allow them to use this and arrest people until a Police Officer arrives. Some areas allow them to carry handcuffs too, but they are there "just in case" rather than it being their job to apprehend criminals. Personally, I think they should look less like police officers and be more identifiable as their own community role. Because people think of them as "pretend police" they have no respect for them and don't understand the job they do. Which is a good and useful job that we need someone to do. (In related news, I'm a police officer) Anyone can ask you for your name and address, you don't have to give it to them. You always have the right to remain silent should you choose, you don't have to be told it to use it. If the police want to report you for an offence (to go to court), they need to know your address so that they can send you the summons. If you refuse to tell them your address, or if it's fake, they can arrest you and make sure you are taken to court. If this was a PCSO, they do have the power to 'require' you to provide your name and address for some offences. They can detain you for up to 30 minutes if you don't, until a Police Officer can come and arrest you. If it was some other council officer or warden, some of them have limited powers. If you're unsure, ask them. If you feel you're being treated unfairly or detained illegally, ask the police to attend.

Wow, that was really negative. A great way to welcome a new member to the forum. Now he probably won't ever come back because you insulted him on his very first post. Either that, or he'll turn into a spammer because of it. (Yes that happens) Firstly, as Husky says, look to see if the download already exists. There are H2 Hummers, but I doubt any of them are pink. Some modded vehicles can't have their colours changed, because their exterior is actually a texture not a colour. However, if it can be changed, then a trainer would achieve this. (I'm no expert on modding on IV, but this is how it worked for previous games) As for requesting a new mod, someone might be willing to take up the challenge. However, these days most modders probably would not do this just for a single request. If there was a lot of demand for it, or if they really liked the idea, then perhaps.

I think Chris means to say that TGTAP does need a new design, and it would be great if you could make one. However, obviously Chris couldn't guarantee that he would use your design, that would be entirely his decision. Since you're just making an image mockup, it would be Chris that has to implement it, so that will take quite some time. So even if he did pick yours, it's not as if it could appear overnight.
