Silberio
Howdy. I've been searching (for fun) members kinda, by typing this: http://www.thegtaplace.com/forums/index.php?showuser=xxxx and i replace the X's, with some ranom numbers, and i've seen members that have 0 posts, never been online, or some that have joined allmost when TGTAP was created (2004, 2005, Etc.), and that they have 1, 2, or even 0 posts. So i just wanna know whats up with that kinda members? PS: I've seen a "Member" in the moderator team called "Administrator", wich have nothing but the location set. Chris
So? You get that on any forum. People register, sometimes forget to validate their account, or maybe they do it, they don't make any posts at the time, forget about the forum. Or maybe if they return, they forget they registered and make a new account, or they can't remember their password and can't be bothered resetting it so they make a new account. There are many reasons why people don't ever use their accounts, yeah it's stupid, but it happens all the time. The adminstrator account is just a back up really, it's seldom used. Nate10
Yeah, normal, but kinda stupid if ya think about it. Especially since we have like 8,000 and something members but like 100 active members :/ Lol, you used my profile.
Dark Lord
Yeah.May a time members register for some formality.Although i am glad you need not register or Log IN at TGTAP for viewing the whole forum unlike GTAS and other sites where some part of the forum remains hidden until you Log In .ANd also that huge nagging Avderts on benefits you get when you register. Huckleberry Pie
Yeah, and there's a spamming idiot named Helen Clavon who registered here, and wrote crap in the forums. I searched her at Google and I found her doing the same stuff in another gaming forum. Please ban this user and his/her IP range...

GiiBz
Not that im suggesing anything, (no offence to chris) but to get soing some sites make "fake" members to make them look more popular... But i doubt TGTAP needed to
Gerard
I think that is what he was trying to say. The problem with making fake members is that they never post, so it doesn't really get a forum going at all. To be honest, I'd rather join a forum where a small number of people posted lots, instead of a forum where nobody posts, but there are loads of members. Chris
We didn't need to make any fake members for this forum. We already had 2 previous crashes, so all the members from those just re-registered more or less instantly. TBH, I can't actually remember making any fake accounts for the first 2 forums we had anyway. And regarding spam bots, we always delete those accounts. Luckily we seldom get them now. Silberio
Okay, and what are Spam Bots?
Chris
Obviously you weren't here last year when all IPB 2.1 forums on the Internet had trouble with them. They're scripts which are written to sign up a member to a forum and post topics in random forums filled with links to random sites, normally those selling drugs such as viagra, or selling electronic products and stuff. They can sign up hundreds of fake members and create hundreds of spamvertising posts every month, they were a pain in the ass to deal with even with things such as email validation turned on, they would always used free web based email accounts. Huckleberry Pie
Spamvertising sucks big time; those fools try and try to spread crap all over the place - how come those people do this?? To get noticed? In Filipino, they are called papansin, or someone who wants to get noticed...
Silberio
Ah, Its either because they are retarted, or brain dead. I think mostly they advertise about spam sites, and/or propaganda (Capitalism, racism, socialism, "Killism"). As a guy that posted on a GTAIV topic. They just treat this forum as if it's a disposable Kodak camera that you ditch after a couple of shots... Man, I don't want to waste stuff like that... And spam bots suck big time; I have my own forum, yet I don't want such crap to creep in my own territory...
evabin2libertycity?
well for the "ghost members," the disposable kodac camera breaks (they didnt get help) or the pictures are blurry (they got mean or unhelpful advice). so they go out and buy another one. and some people here, the "active members," learned how to re-use the camera and cant afford another and they take more pictures than intended. (make too many posts) There is no such thing as "too many posts" unless the posts are useless, retarded, or anything like that((likes yours, y'know?)). Just because some people post actively doesn't mean they post too much. Go do something productive with your life if all you're going to do is run down people because they post actively on a web service made for people to post actively on.
