Gerard
I think Europe is much more likely to become one country with states than North America. One of the issues is representation, for example in sporting events. The US gets one team when it has the choice of the athletes in the equivalent of fifty small countries, whereas the Netherlands only has a handful to pick from. metropcs
Dude... that'd be hella weird... It might solve the immigration problem... but then they might run up to Canada... and I don't think our neighbors to the north would like that.

Righty
Interesting, but I don't see it happening - it's just not practical. First of all, Canada is a very socialistic country, so I don't see them merging with a country like the US that is considerably more right (although not far enough) than Canada; there would be alot of people that would be against it in both countries. Now, as far as Mexico, I can come up with two things that can happen if the US were to merge with Mexico. One, Mexicans would be all over in the US, and Canada if this were to happen, but they would take all of the jobs and alot of non-Mexicans would have a hard time getting a job. Or, similar to what's happening in the Southwest, they will take all of the jobs that aren't completely legal and leave the Canadians and US people able to get the better jobs since Mexicans don't seem to have a high standard of jobs that they want. Building a road that wide would be very impractical. First of all, there would be alot of traffic accidents on it. You can't give people that many lanes to use and have traffic flow evenly. Second, it would make more sense to expand on our current Interstate system, or atleast in the US; make all interstates 8 lanes instead of 2,3 or 4. Having all of the people go to the center of the continent to go anywhere would be a huge waste of fuel. Third, there just wouldn't be enough money and supplies to undertake an infrastructure project this big. Supplies, equipment, fuel and labor would cost too much and most likely make it a toll highway. BTW, I'm against NAFTA and CAFTA, I think it is hurting our economy by letting more and more foreign made goods onto our markets and it is enforcing outsourcing. Righty
That isn't really directed at me. Although I do not like the idea of the Illegal immigrants, they provide a necessary service to our country - they do take alot of jobs that alot of Americans would not consider doing. If they were to take the time to legally enter this country, they would have it so much better. But hey, what can I do I just think rationally. I also don't like paying for their healthcare either. Chris
...It might solve the immigration problem... Or maybe make it worse? In Europe, we currently have 25 countries in the EU. If you are a citizen of one of these countries, you do NOT need a visa to work in another EU country, you can live and work in whatever member state you wish to, there is no law stating you cannot do that. Furthermore, several countries that have signed and applied the Schengen treaty allow you to freely move between these countries, not requiring any passport checking etc. Most EU countries have signed this agreement, however, they haven't applied it yet. Some have though, for example, France, Belgium, Netherlands, all have, you could for instance drive through these countries without a care. But if you then went into Switzerland for example, you would need to show your passport, as they have not applied the law yet. I know all this because I learned it all last week But thing is my point was that immigration increases because of the fairly lax laws now in place. Oscar
The thing I don't like about being united with Mexico is there not a European founded country and its simple as that. Can you look a map and tell me where is a country called Spain? is it in Africa, Asia? it isnt right? we were conquered by Spain almost at the same time as you were conquered by Britain, I know most of you probably dont know/care about it and this is just a GTA forum but at least know your facts before you post them. About the theory, that wont happen unless the USA conquers Mexico, something like they did with Puerto Rico, and even then I dont think it will happen, no good for any country.
