Gerard Posted December 12, 2006 Share Posted December 12, 2006 If you mean like a shoutbox, thats incredibly annoying for visitors, and even moreso for staff who have to keep an eye on every line that goes through it. At least not everybody sees a bad post if one is made, but where everybody sees something that anybody can post, thats horrible. Think, how easy would it be to post a URL to your own site (breaking the advertising rule) or swear (with dots in or something) or flame or anything. Too easy. Most of us use MSN or AIM anyway, and the idea of the forum is to discuss, so I don't see anything we'd gain from having that kind of chat feature. And n00bs who post, well, n00by things. And it somehow makes a site look unproffestional. I'v seen shoutboxes and guestbooks on sites, they suck.
