  1. Threads Merged. I will post about this later, it's just the anniversary of Odie's untimely death and I think it's more respectful to leave that as the newest news for a little while.
  2. Exactly one year today, GTA modding legend Heiko Feege, better known as Odie in the GTA community, passed away, at just 37 years old. For those who are maybe new to GTA and don't know of the event, you can read our news post from last year, and also this press release (.pdf) put together by members of GTAForums, a forum he frequented. Many tributes have since been made to Odie, with fellow modders including homages to him within their own mods. Odie left behind a widow and a son, along with GTA Berlin, a huge total conversion still in development today, which aims to bring Berlin, the capital city of Germany into San Andreas, without their project leader. The GTA Berlin team have put together a small video slideshow with some images of his contributions to the community, along with the simple message of "Wir werden dich nie vergessen", translating to "We will never forget you". You can check out the 1 minute tribute here (.wmv file). 3. Yeah if you leave your car somewhere... 1. If it's a rough neighbourhood then within 24 hours it's likely to either be stolen (you see them joyriding round the block, stereo up loud as fuck, windows down etc.) or being vandalised, windows smashed etc. 2. In a deserted area, it's there for weeks and gradually becomes decrepit and rusted and stuff. 3. In a random street, could be there for a couple of days or so, maybe a week, the police could tow it away and take it to an impound. That would be nice.
  4. I'm going to move this to the classics forum later, but for now to answer your question: Do you have GTA1 for the PS1? If so, just put the disc in a CD player and it should recognise it and start playing all the 'choonz' Otherwise, I believe if you download GTA1 from rockstargames.com the tracks are all included (not sure if they're separate files or not but I've read they are, I can't remember myself)
  5. Much of our US readership will now be enjoying Liberty City Stories on their PS2. And a lot of our worldwide readership may well have received the GTA mailing list email by now. If you haven't yet received it, or didn't bother reading it all, you won't have seen that Rockstar have updated the official site... IGN brought you that trailer yesterday, and have now also put up a video review, amongst other content such as a guide. LINKS: Official LCS site IGN LCS Game Page
  6. After IGN posted their "hands-on" the other day, they've now posted an actual review of the game and are the first website to do so. The game is officially released across the North American continent tomorrow. I covered most of the 'new' features when summing up the hands on preview last Friday. To summarise yet again, the improvements we have are slightly longer draw distance, slightly improved frame rate, and higher number of concurrent objects on screen. As well as this we have the far superior control over Toni, as this time we now have the two extra shoulder buttons and right analogue stick on the PS2's controller. You probably aren't bothered with the review now but IGN have posted a further 5 screenshots so take a look at them. Links below. IGN LCS PS2 Review IGN's 5 New Screenshots
  7. Probably yeah, anyway I voted for: Rammstein - My Heart Burns (I think it translates as that) It's a cool song that IMO would be pretty easy to sync stunts to as it has a distinctive chorus. It's 4:39, so we'll need a fair few submissions.
  8. I live in England you cretin. And sucks to be your parents. I'm not going until September anyway, so I have a few months.
  9. Chris

    help!

The fact you have v2 may well be the problem, although I didn't think with save games it actually mattered.
  10. Happy Birthday Gerard! Everyone send him money and/or presents. He is a deprived child alles Gute zum Geburtstag
  11. 3.06GHz Pentium 4 here. It's nice.
  12. And some more changes... Forum fun and games + gaming chat have been moved back inside the general discussion sub forum. The trading stalls wasn't being used as we don't have a fully functional store at the moment, but since most dealt with graphics I just deleted the forum and moved all the topics to the creativity forum. The webring was always open to abuse and did get abused by some people, this just game the mods even more work to do. So I've deleted that forum, any topics that were in there have been moved to the lounge. However, we no longer allow advertising anywhere. If you have a site with something cool and unique on it (maybe not even related to GTA) then you may post it. Otherwise find a dedicated web development forum and show it off there. You can post links to your own sites in your signature. Thank you.
  13. Stop posting all in caps you moron. 80% warning, that's a 14 day suspension. On topic. Burnout games are great, but they aren't the best ever. Nobody could ever beat Gran Turismo.
  14. Done a bit of late spring cleaning on the forums today. First of all I wrote some better forum descriptions for a few that had bad grammar. (oops) Secondly, the Liberty City Stories forum has now been split into sub-forums, like the main GTA games are, it had become quite clogged up. Now it is a lot easier to find topics relating to certain things. Thirdly, in the GTA3 and GTAVC forums, I deleted the Screenshots forum in both of those as they were pretty useless, the topics inside those forums have been moved to General GTA3 discussion and General VC discussion respectively. Finally, the thing you've probably already noticed is the fact the forums have been re-ordered. before you start complaining that you can't find anything I'll explain why I did it. All the GTA forums are now above the general chat forums. We are a GTA forum, the main focus of our forums is discussion of Grand Theft Auto, therefore these forums are more important than general chatter. The "General" category has now been renamed to Community. I also moved the suggestions forum down there as that is also part of community input. You'll get used to the slightly changed layout soon enough. Also our custom forum skin is almost finished, so by tomorrow you will all see it, it's just like the main site, so everything all looks nice and integrated now.
  15. Actually it's better to choose a song first, then do the video editing, that way you can trim and sync the stunts to the music.
  16. Thank you for the suggestion, I will look into this tomorrow. Thread moved to suggestions forum.
  17. Unfortunately you cannot take this cheat off, and if you've saved your game with it on then it's stuck like that for that particular saved game. Sorry.
  18. IGN have got their dirty little hands on the PS2 version of Liberty City Stories. They basically don't have anything negative to say about it, aside from the evident lack of multiplayer features. Which Rockstar supposedly said they removed as "it didn't fit in with the story." IGN claim in their preview that it will take the average gamer around 15-20 hours to play straight though, just completing the main storyline and not bothering with side missions or other objectives. One big plus for the PS2 version over the PSP is the far superior controls, thanks to the PS2 controller's extra shoulder buttons and pair of analogue sticks, the controls are just like those of the previous iterations. One other advantage is the fact you'll be playing on a bigger screen too. Interestingly, IGN state that nothing in terms of the graphics has been improved, it is all exactly the same as the PSP version, apart from very slight enhancements to framerate, draw distance, and the number of objects on screen. As well as the preview, IGN have also posted 8 new screenshots and the official PS2 trailer. You can check all these out by clicking the links below. Hopefully Rockstar will send us some unwatermarked screens soon though. Also I'd like to point out that the trailer still has the June 6th release date for North America, it is literally just Europe that is affected by a two-week delay. Which currently has no valid reason. Some mis-informed fansites are saying LCS has been delayed worldwide, while others are giving incorrect release dates. So to reiterate, here are the official release dates: North America: June 6th Europe: June 23rd LINKS: IGN Hands on 8 New Screenshots LCS PS2 Trailer
  19. Bad news for PS2 owners in Europe as Rockstar have pushed back Liberty City Stories' PS2 release again. The release date for the game is now June 23rd. Currently there doesn't seem to be a valid reason why it should be delayed. I can't imagine why, after all, it's virtually a straight port from the PSP version, just without the multiplayer features. The US release of the game seems unaffected as of yet, so we assume it's still a June 6th release for them. We'll keep you updated on any reasoning behind this delay. Stay tuned. Source: Eurogamer
  20. Okay, we're a little bit behind on multiplayer news at the moment, so I'm bundling these two announcements into one post. First and foremost the SA-MP team have released version 0.1b of their multiplayer client in the last week. It features many bug fixes from the previous version, and has a few advantages over MTA at the moment, with features such as deathmatch and custom game mode scripting already in place. So why not Download SA-MP and try everything out for yourself? In MTASA news, an admin system is currently in development for the deathmatch release of their client. Everything's looking rather nice over there, so head over to their blog and read all about it. I would imagine we will be able to get our hands on this in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates!
  21. There's been very little in the way of any media to do with the Playstation 2 release of Liberty City Stories. One magazine here in England that I did notice that has a review of the game is issue number 82 of PSW, which contains a 4-page article. As expected, nothing new has been added to the game, it is a straight-forward port of the PSP version, and in fact it will actually ship with less features, as the multiplayer modes have been taken out, although this was somewhat obvious as PS2's don't have an AdHoc mode, although some 2-player action San Andreas style would have been nice. To be honest, the only pros over the PSP version have to be the slightly sharper graphics and faster loading times, thanks to the PS2's superior power. Not to mention you'll also get to play it on a much bigger screen. If you already have the PSP version there probably isn't much point in you buying the game unless you're a hardcore GTA fan. Having said all that it is a cheap game whatever country you are in, only £14.99 here in the U.K, while in the U.S. the game apparently sells for $19.99, and in Europe, €19.99. I will try and get myself a copy of the magazine to get a few quotes directly from it. If like me you're more eagerly awaiting Vice City Stories, or indeed GTA4, then check out our forums for all the latest discussions. Some popular topics include our legendary GTA4 Wishlist, which has so far amassed over 750 replies and has had over 28,000 views. I get many requests to add these to the GTA4 section of the website but this simply cannot happen due to it's popularity, however, I may get the forum staff to get together a choice few wishes that seem to be popular so we can post those up on the website. Stay tuned for more updates! And don't forget to keep your eye on both Multi Theft Auto and SA-MP, as both multiplayer mods are being updated quite often now and are evolving well with new features coming along nicely!
