I run COD4 with no problems now even with everything on high. The new processor is installed and working so far, it's at a chilly 28C and my PC is working fine. EDIT: Silly me, forgot completely about drivers. Installed new ones and now works fine. By the way, I didn't reinstall on a fresh system and it works just like the other CPU, except it is faster, I can tell now that new drivers are installed.

I've talked to a couple people who have recently upgraded their CPU and they have had no problems when they didn't upgrade on a fresh system I guess I'll be the LUCKY one and have problems.

And that is likely to happen? I'm trying to keep from having to do all this backing up and installing on a fresh system. And guys, I'm not just posting here, when you guys give me new info, I go and google it up, but it's just about people talking about their CPU failures, so I just have to come back here to get layman's terms from you guys. :I We could do this in PMs if I am just flooding this topic with stupid questions

I know what quirks are, I was talking about more of examples, and are they likely to happen I don't even have the means to back things up, I could start another partition like Chris previously said, but I don't have any flash drives or external harddrives. and even after that, I don't have the means to reinstall windows, because I sorta dont have an XP CD anymore.

My AMD Athlon X2 5000+ will arrive today(Or maybe tomorrow if Hurricane Gustav delayed it). Is Socket AM2 a plug and play CPU? Do I need to flash my BIOS? If my current BIOS is the most updated version, I don't need to flash it, do I?

More keys, but less sensitive ones. For almost any type of driving, I need the analog sensitivity. Why does everyone place shooting over driving in GTA? Even online it was nothing but those XboxLive-Kiddies and HALOFAGS. Even doing something like walking along an edge is easier with the analog controls. I was talking more about ANY game that has to do with aiming, a mouse is just better, I think most can agree on that. About driving, I can drive fine with a keyboard :/. When driving on my PS2 on VC, I use the D-pad, which is more like WASD than the analog sticks. walking along an edge might be easier on analog, but if you can maneuver your mouse at all, it shouldn't be a problem, especially on GTA4 where you can walk normally. And I agree 100% with the term HALOFAGS

Agreed 100%. .... Control is part of the gameplay to me. It's easier to PLAY THE GAME with analog controls that aren't massive((like keyboards)). full spherical movement with a mouse that you cant get without having to use 2 analog sticks at once, which is hard for me. 8 directions to move with WASD More buttons! 16 keys around WASD that are easily reachable, plug the 3 mouse buttons and mouse wheel. I have 5 buttons on my mouse, so thats 21 buttons with an easy reach while PC gaming. 14 on a PS2 controller (including the D-pad rocker) so really only 10 buttons on a PS2 controller. (not including start/select) This is just for me, maybe you are better with analog sticks, more power to you.
