  8. Well, I got an email back from them. It is this: Hello, Why ICCR is concerned about the marketing of violent video games to children, and what is it doing about this issue? Member organizations of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) are concerned that video games with extreme violence are being promoted and sold to children and adolescents. While these games are labeled for "mature-rated audiences" ages 17 and older by the industry ratings board, retailers are not sufficiently enforcing industry-created standards to limit access to violent video to minors. ICCR's goal is straightforward: To encourage retailers, game developers, and marketers of violent video games to follow and implement any internal codes and those developed by the interactive game industry and the entertainment ratings board to keep games with graphic violence and strong sexual content out of the hands of youth. In many cases, these video games encourage and reward players for performing acts of violence and brutality that include beating women, shooting police officers and committing racially motivated acts of violence. Years of research have shown that violence viewed by children and adolescents can lead to increases in aggressive attitudes, values and behavior. Research on violent interactive media indicates that it has a strong and more lasting effect on violent behavior than other forms of media. ICCR has been a leader in the corporate social responsibility movement for over thirty year and it is not new for us to call on companies to adhere to guidelines. Our 275+plus members are faith-based institutional investors with combined assets in management of over $110 billion who work with corporations on a variety of issues relating to human rights, the environment, labor standards, corporate governance and social justice. ICCR and its members have spent the past two years writing to and attempting to meet with companies that produce, sell or market violent video games. In several cases, these companies have rebuffed our efforts at dialogue. We have also met and continue to meet with the industry's ratings board and merchants association, calling on companies and industry associations to do such things as: q Develop and publish standards for marketing video games that depict images demeaning to women and minorities and that reward players for performing acts of violence and brutality; q Prevent children and adolescents under 17 years of age from purchasing/renting mature-rated games by separating these from other games; q Disclose how policies are implemented to and enforced by staff to prohibit the purchase of any violent entertainment media products to minors; and q Develop policies that respect diversity, environment, and support healthy families and communities. While several retailers have made efforts to restrict the sale of inappropriate games to children by displaying signs about the ratings system, training department store staff, and checking IDs of minors to ensure that they are not able to buy mature-rated violent video games, more must be done. A recent Federal Trade Commission survey found that 69% of children were able to purchase mature-rated games in retail stores while two New York City Council investigations found similar results. By meeting with companies and industry associations, and through education programs to empower citizens and help consumers to better understand the marketing of violence, we know it is possible to develop a positive system for people to enjoy age-appropriate video games. Video games offer a creative and potent venue for advancing positive learning experiences. Game developers and retailers must help by following standards that they themselves have helped to create. For more information, please read the Joint Statement, which expresses our expectations for marketers, retailers and violent video game software and development companies. Included in the statement is a list of several game titles whose scenes of violence, gender and/or racial stereotyping are such that we would urge parents to avoid purchasing them for children and adolescents under the age of 17.   11. Well, Vice City for PS2 just came out in Japan a little over a year ago. As for instructions, it's pretty much text based.
  12. Before my favorite Bittorrent site, **Snort** Suprnova.org went down, they had it up there many different times. Other than that, uh... try something like kAzAa, or Bearshare, or, LimeWire, but be careful when getting it off of there.
  13. I don't know what you're ttalking about with the weapons thing, but to your other questions: 1. The PC version is the same version of Vice City used in the Double Pack and Xbox versions of the game. They have many mods and fixes. If you buy the double pack for PS2, it will have the Elvis paper. It's just something Rockstar did. 2. It loads faster because the avarage PC is about 2GHz. That mean 2000 Megahertz. The PS2's processor is only 300 Megahertz. See my point?

  15. That title stunk. How about combining the moderness of GTA3, with the comedy of Vice City, and the tech, size, and features of San Andreas into a game. The title? Something cool like "Grand Theft Auto: No Mercy."
  16. The way to solve the map problem is this. 1. Get pilot license after completing "Learning to Fly" 2. Go to airport in any of the cities. 3. Go through security gate. 4. Get in Shamal Jet.

  19. Maybe that's why it was strange. I also submitted a bunch of stuff that never once got looked at. I submitted the cheats for San Andreas the DAY BEFORE they came out. (I preordered) I submitted like 5 POTWs. Damn.
