So you’re saying as long as there is something that slightly proves something…that it could be considered fact? Theories are ideas that we create to explain something and if you believe in theories then you have faith. People have faith in God, which you could consider a theory that hasn’t yet been proven with physical evidence, but people still have faith in God just like you have faith in the theory of evolution. Slightly proves something...the atomic theory effectively proved that matter is composed to atoms and this is evidenced by a nuclear bomb. Religion proves...nothing and is evidenced by...nothing. Believing in a theory =/= having faith in religion. To be considered a scientific theory there needs to be supporting evidence. To believe in God you need faith, by definition faith is something you believe in without a way to prove it's correct. I don't have faith in Evolution because I don't have to, it's scientifically proven to be true.

Yes, that's how science works, logical conclusions are drawn in the wake of supporting evidence and data. The atomic theory...a theory yes, but it produces tangible results (atom bomb) whereas blind faith in religion doesn't. The atomic theory and evolution aren't perfect theories, that doesn't make them wrong. In fact they produce actual results (Evolution isn't just a method of explaining where we came from, it explains the similarities and differences in creatures due to things such as analogous structures, divergent/convergent evolution, etc...), more than religion does. We discovered mathematics and have used it extensively but we didn't create it, math has existed as long as the universe. Math is a universal system. It doesn't matter if you're a human on Earth or some alien in bfn space, math will always produce the same results; those results may be expressed differently but they will be the same because math is a universal language of quantity.

Well that all depends on what you consider science. Are you talking about the equations or other things? I'm talking about science...the theories, laws, and postulates that govern the laws of the Universe. The advancement of society to today's level...life-saving healthcare techniques, life-saving food and water treatment, waste management, instant worldwide communication, worldwide travel and beyond...it certainly didn't come out of thin air, did it?

Science is based on facts, religion is based on faith. They are in no way the same thing.

Is a BFG NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 1GB good enough
chris82 replied to EliteKiller A93's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
Please use this topic for further discussion about GTA IV hardware. Also no, get a 4850 from Newegg.com, it's better and not much more expensive. 9500 is really not a good card. -
I'd say the AMD one, mainly because it's a quad-core where the Intel is only a dual-core and IV will take advantage of all four cores. But regardless of the processor you get, if by highest shadow settings you mean that the Shadow slider is turned up, you will get low FPS no matter what processor you have. Rockstar has specifically stated that those settings are for future hardware, I doubt even the Intel i7s can handle the shadow slider being at 13. Keep it at 1-3.

Recently I picked up a new monitor--an upgrade from the 19'' LCD I was using previously. That monitor ran at 1280x1024. The monitor I'm currently using runs at 1680x1050 and is the Acer X223Wbd 22'' Widescreen. It has a 5ms response time, 2500:1 contrast ratio, and is pretty much awesome in every way. But enough about my monitor, and now about how it improved GTAIV's performance. My system isn't bad, according to the specifications it can easily run GTAIV. AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Corsair XMM2 2GB DDR2 ATi Radeon 3870 512mb And while it ran fine at 1280x1024 at all medium settings (sliders in upper 20s), I wondered what the performance would be with the much higher resolution. I upped it to 1680x1050. Surprisingly, the game didn't limit me at all to 1440x900 like it did Chris, even before the patch. I kept the settings and sliders where they were and started the game. To my surprise there was no decrease in performance and in fact it looked like I had gained some. Turns out that upping the resolution put more stress on my graphics card which is much more powerful than my processor. I then applied the patch from GFWL and updated my video card drivers to 8.12. I'm proud to say that in busy areas I can pull 25-40fps and I always hit 60 in non-busy areas/interiors, I could go higher in those places but I think this game uses v-sync. So if you're having performance issues, UP the resolution, it may actually help!

Very nice work indeed, keep going and you certainly could do that for a living!

The news is a place to post about GTA and TGTAP, not about donating to modders. It's not a place to advertise or anything like that. If you want to ask for money in the forums that's fine, but don't go and hold your mods hostage because some people don't like the idea of you using the news as a venue to ask for money. Maybe instead of wasting all this time with all this drama, you could have possibly worked overtime at your job or something and saved some of that extra money until you had enough for a new PC. You're a great modder and you have made really nice mods, but that's no excuse to ask for money and then belittle those who criticize you. It's the same here or at GTAForums, as I said you're a great modder but that doesn't mean people are obligated to be nice or help you. You don't see me posting a news article that says "HEY I NEED NEW COMPUTAR AND SINCE IM SO AWESOME DONATE TO ME OR YOURE NOT DOING YOUR PART FOR THE COMMUNITY KTHXBYE" Ordinarily I'd take that link out of your post but you're mods are nice and I think people should be able to access them.

windows 7/gtaVI compatibility issues
chris82 replied to SuperSaiyanX's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
While I wouldn't imagine there should be a problem, it is a pre-beta release of the operating system and software isn't guaranteed to work. Stick with XP or Vista until the release candidates are available. -
I don't think you'll be able to, sorry. Also that video card is probably not capable of running the game either.
-
Wow, no doubt IV deserved to be #1 but otherwise that list is horrible. Where's Left4Dead? Where's Saints Row 2? Spore sucks.
-
No, that's a bad processor, don't get anything with the word "Pentium" or "Celeron" in it. Also how is 10fps playable? It's choppy as hell. You need at least 20 (and many people prefer 30+)
-
You might get by with around 10fps, but you need to upgrade your graphics card and processor. so my vcd no good that sucks i just got it 3 months ago but anyway im buying a pentium 4 ht 3.2ghz will that work and 3gb ram No, don't get a Pentium 4, you need a multi-core processor, if your motherboard is LGA-slot you can probably get a C2D which would be much better.
-
Yes but that graphics card and especially that processor aren't anywhere near enough to play the game, I don't think it will even start up with that processor.
-
Maybe, but that single-core processor will hold you back a lot. Not a chance, sorry. You're better off just getting a new PC than upgrading.

Code Red was introduced years ago as a permanent flavor, it's pretty good. LiveWire was originally a promotional flavor for Halo 3 but it became permanent. The other ones were temporary. They're all delicious.
-
Make sure you scan your media through the main menu when you start the game and that you have the LAME MP3 encoder installed (which it should be).
-
Well this site seems to offer it, although kind of expensive...over $3 a bottle. If you're going to buy American soda, get Mountain Dew, it's delicious. I don't understand why they don't sell it when it's a Pepsi brand. Anyway this is the main thing I got for my birthday, the Archos 5. Three view options for websites, this is TGTAP set to fit the width of the screen, you can also view websites in 100% or 'Enlarged' by double-tapping the screen. On websites with flash videos, it will ask if you want to view in fullscreen or embedded in the screen. This song describes how I feel about the Archos 5. Videos look amazing. The main reason I chose it over the iPod touch that it's a whopping 60GB for $50 less than the 32GB Touch. It also has a better web browser and supports many more video/audio codecs (especially FLAC and OGG).

Awesome, awesome to the max. This game has so much potential and it's sad to see it have bad things associated with it.
-
lol thanks guys, yes it's been good, I didn't go to school today and I'm about a week away from getting my full driver's license. I also got an Archos 5 (basically an iPod touch but better) and money which is going into upgrading my PC, I already used some of it to get much need upgrades (new speakers, headset, keyboard, etc...) I'll post pics later! :awesome: Also suppose I need to get some Bawls, I usually get some every year around my birthday, but since CompUSA, the only local place that sold it is gone now, I'll have to order it online where it's actually more expensive.
-
I highly doubt it, sorry.
-
What? SP3 is not only more secure that SP2 but it's also around 10% faster. Why wouldn't you get it anyway?
