Don't think so, not for GTA IV at least. It would seem to take full advantage of all four cores, so getting a quad core is a better decision, plus they will get even better in the future as more applications begin to support them.

Although it's irrelevant, they can put SecuROM 9001 into the game and the pirates will find a way around it, combating piracy by making it harder for people who legitimately buy the game to play than the actual pirates is a buttfuck practice that needs to stop.

That's not true at all, DX10 was not only meant to improve graphics (which it does) but it was also for improving performance on the same hardware (which it does). Vista is not resource hungry, people who say that are ignorant; yes it will say it is using a lot of RAM but it's not actually using it (as in preventing apps from using it), it's caching it so applications can access it faster. It's called advanced memory management. In any case, Windows 7 and DX11 are coming up in about a year so don't wait, either get a DX10.1 card now or get a DX11 card in the future. Also, that magazine scan is awesome because that mid-range config is nearly identical to mine, I'm happy I can run it at my native resolution on fairly good settings.

Just a small update to the previous announcement that GTA IV will be sold via Steam, an online game distribution service. It is now possible to pre-purchase GTA IV and if you do so, you will get Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for free! If you already own Vice City on Steam, you will be able to give your free copy to a friend, possibly as a way to get them into the series. Maybe, your graphics card is bad, you might be able to play at minimum settings. Butters, go to start->run (or press Windows Key+R if on Vista) and type dxdiag and post what it says your graphics card is.

It's probably because Intel doesn't have a triple-core processor that I know of and they didn't want to just make the recommended processor a very-high clocked dual-core so they went with a quad-core.

Well you'd have to tell me your exact processor and RAM, this can be done if you're in Windows by going to the Welcome Center or System Information in Control Panel, or in OSX by going to "About This Mac" and clicking "More Information". Overall you shouldn't have a problem running, you just probably won't be able to do so at high settings.

Yes, I am correct, even though the second number in the 1900 is higher, the 3870 has a much improved architecture and can perform better while having a lower number. The 2600, while running on an improved architecture, is still not really made for gaming (Macs really aren't) as the 1900 was.

No, the second number is what is important, that card will not perform extremely well but it depends also on your processor and RAM. Also how do you have a desktop with a laptop card? 2. Xbox 360 wired controller

To run it decently with an ATi card you should have a 3870, 4850, or 4870(x2). To run it decently with an nVidia card you should have an 8600, 8800, 9600, GTX 260, or GTX 280.
