No I said not JUST IV. Having VC, SA, IV would be better. Even if it's just a pic of Tommy from VC, some landscape from SA and then both skyscrapers and Niko from IV, that is showing we're about more than just IV. But it IS up to you

The banners dont HAVE to include images from EVERY game, but as TFY said I don't think it should just be GTA IV. Nobody has the game yet, and I'm sure a lot of our members (probably most) won't be getting GTA IV straight away, but will still be playing the older games. GTA IV should probably be the most prominent game in the image - but you should show a scene of the San Andreas countryside and Tommy Vercetti etc. Not saying it HAS to be like that - Chris' preliminary design shows only the (new) Liberty City skyline, and it looks good. Maybe you could make the site banner IV only, and make the forum design Have a look at GTA Revolution for a nice image with only characters in it. Surely someone can do better than that. Feel free to make the designs taller than 100px too - most people have a bit more screen space than 768px now. I beg to differ

So you mean have Tabs for navigation instead of dumb links? Fair enough.

Nope, this is not Warez. The warez rule is to stop people stealing copies of the game. The vehicles.ide file is config data used in the game, it's fine to distribute it for purposes like this. It IS illegal to hand out the .exe files, and impossible to hand out gta3.img

Case in point: how long has it been since GTA San Andreas was first released? Three and a half years. That was back in October 2004, with a PC and Xbox release in June 2005. If GTA IV followed the same pattern (ignoring the two episodes and DLCs) then we'd see a PC release by Christmas and then a new game within 2 years (late 2011).

Don't forget GTA IV Episode 1 and 2, those are going to be two pretty big build-ups. By the time all that's gone we'll have the big mods as Chris82 said, then I'd be surprised if we didn't hear about GTA 5 / GTA V within a few months.

READ THE EFFING TOPIC. "towers that reside next to the World Trade Center site. It's those 2 towers that have a circular roof and the other one has a triangular rooftop. NOBODY is suggesting those are the WTC towers. NOBODY.

Take Two did reject the bid, but that doesn't mean it's over. EA did offer several bids before the $26-per-share one mentioned in this topic, which were all rejected. This was the first one made in public. EA could try to persuade Take Two shareholders to vote out the Board of Directors, to allow the EA merge to happen. That involves persuading the shareholders that (basically) they will make more money than Take Two can generate.

Can any of you read? This topic is NOT about "is this the WTC" - stop saying R* would be silly to put it in. They came down in 2001, the game is set in 2008, they simply are not going to be in the game. The buildings in the screenshot are NEXT to where the WTC would be if it was in the game, quite clearly they aren't. Nobody is suggesting that those buildings are the twin towers, just that they are nearby. This topic IS about "what do you think SHOULD be where the WTC 'was'" or "what do you think R* have put at Ground Zero"

EA have a fair amount of multiplayer experience, so I'd expect them to introduce Deathmatch and all that kinda stuff. But then isn't GTA just like every other game? Just with a bigger map than most and less realistic models/textures. You're right in saying they'll probably get rid of a lot of the crime and sleaze, make it more about 'life' in general. That would suck.

Thanks, thought Chris had fixed all that by now.

After weeks of speculation, Electronic Arts have placed a formal unsolicited $2billion dollar bid for Take Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, publishers of the GTA series. The gaming giant seems to really be interested in merging the companies, offering $26 a share after several private offers were rejected by Take Two's board. GTA IV is widely expected to be the top-selling game of 2008, and more than 60 million copies of GTA games so far have been sold. If GTA IV sold the expected 10 million copies before the end of the year, that would make Take Two more expensive, which explains why EA has placed an aggressive bid now - plus it allows them to reap the profits of Take Two's imminent success. Take Two has a reputation of producing one-hit wonders and a massive winning streak with GTA, whereas the more steady EA is known more for its countless sequels than its innovation and creativity. EA's CEO John Riccitiello said they intend to merge Take Two with EA before Christmas, and that he was already had a relationship with Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser. Take Two have previously stated that the company is not for sale, and have rejected a number of offers from Take Two. Chairman Strauss Zelnick said "EA's proposal provides insufficient value to our shareholders and comes at absolutely the wrong time given the crucial initiatives under way at the company.” This bluntly says that they are expecting massive success with GTA IV, and do not want EA to be piggybacking on its success. However EA will not be as interested in buying Take Two after GTA IV has been released, as they won't see the direct profits from the game. Take Two offered to negotiate a deal beginning on the day after GTA IV's release, but EA have turned that down, suggesting EA wants a big pre-GTA discount. EA has acquired many high-profile game studios, including Westwood (Command & Conquer), Bullfrog Productions (Populous) and Origin Systems (Ultima), which all disappeared into EA. Take Two takes the opposite approach by providing each studio their own identity and individuality, which shows in the games they product. Take Two will be keen to keep this in place after any merger, and EA has a long way to go to prove that. However there is a possibility that individual studios, including Rockstar Games and 2K Boston (Bioshock) would separate from Take Two rather than be merged into EA. Do you think EA would do good things with the GTA series, using their countless industry contacts and professionals to enhance the games? Or are they likely to ruin it with endless sub-par sequels and erase the passion that has built up over the GTA community? Discuss this in our forums. Update: Take Two has officially rejected this offer from EA. Read IGN's article here. Thanks Red Devil for the update.

Yeah thats why the rules also mention not impersonating Rockstar employees etc. Nice site, forums are gonna take a bit of effort to match it.

He's not saying they ARE the WTC, he's saying there are two DIFFERENT buildings where the WTC would have been.

"Everytime I say something negative you always dig at me" - Don't say negative stuff then Firewords can read PSDs. Thats why I told him to ask you for the logo (since I couldn't remember the URL).
-
Stop being so bloody negative. These people have just spent hours making logos for YOUR site and you casually dig at everything. Firstly I suggested 1250px so that you dont have half a page of greyness. Set it as a background image to avoid horizontal scrolling. Read the topic. Secondly, he uses Fireworks not Photoshop. Read the topic. Lurk Moar.
-
Wow a sensible person!! I can't stand photoshop, so I use fireworks. If you could make the desert screenshot darker (to match the sky and rock on either side). Also, your fade (is it a glowing line?) isn't quite at 100% on the right - there is still a bit of a 'jump' where the image ends. I'm impressed. Well done.
-
Could you remove the image behind Niko, with the helicopters and the tree? So that the sky doesn't change colour so much. Also, would be good if you could darken the desert screenshot, to make it match the sky above chiliad, and make the rock colour not so bright (comapred to chiliad). That would kinda make the sky more even across the image as a whole, rather than it going purple-blue-lightblue-blue-darkblue I'm actually impressed by how much it looks like one image, once the light/dark bits are neutralised, and the half-a-tree is removed, it'll be great

GTAIV's release marks minus 1,000 days left...
Gerard replied to Harwood Butcher's topic in Members' Lounge
ITS A SIGN! That's REALLY pushing the boat out. No offence, but I love how people can twist stories so much to fit what they think it means / want it to mean. Howling dogs, that obviously refers to the united states. What's so special about that? You live there, so do 200 million other people, and that's about it. Nothing special at all. That sentence could refer to a billion other things. Actual canines, or important people, or things that look like dogs. Anything metaphorical or literal or whatever. Again no offence, but you're probably one of those people that takes the bible uber-symbolically? -
Of course it's a scam. You obviously aren't a customer of Chase, and even if you were they obviously wouldn't email you asking for your bank details. As Spaz says, in the email the link would have linked to a site that wasn't Chase, probably an IP. That site would have looked like Chase, and they would ask for all your bank details (under the excuse of 'checking' them) and then go and spend all your money.
-
Left half is spot on. I like how Tommy is in the VC bit, and CJ is in the SA bit. You need to add Niko (slightly bigger than the others) between the SA and IV bits (to cover up where that building fades away into sky).
-
Apart from the different colours of sky looking weird, and the minigun going into a tree, thats actually pretty good. At least there's only one sun now
-
Rofl - lucky you. If you look at Chris's screenshot, you can see how its original and different. It's one big screenshot all the way across, and with a couple of things in front of it. If it had something from all the games in front of it (protagonist, recognisable car or building), then it would be good. See if you can do better.

Firstly, nobody has more posts than Spaz. There isn't much chance of that happening in the near future. Secondly, useless posts (eg one word, double post etc) are against the rules. Why should we have a subforum dedicated to them? Why should we let them spill out into the Lounge too?
