If you can't start windows because it bluescreens at startup, you can usually bypass it by going into safe mode. Press F8 repeatedly between startup and before the Windows loading screen and choose "Safe Mode" from the list. This starts Windows up in a mode with reduced functionality, which is just enough for you to remove the drivers/software that is causing the problem, either using system restore or doing it manually. Sometimes even just removing the hardware that is causing the problem (new graphics card, printer, whatever) can work. The fact that it happens every time he installs windows on that PC means that the problem is something to do with the hardware he has or the software he is putting on it, not just windows randomly breaking. Tell him to remove everything he doesnt need from his PC. Remove printers, graphics cards (only if he has a graphics port on his main motherboard as well), sound cards (if its removable) etc etc. If it still doesn't work, get him to remove all the software he's put on that might interfere with windows. You can also uninstall drivers from devmgmt.msc If the problem means he can't start windows at all, follow the advice at the top of this post. Formatting actually wipes the hard drive empty. You don't need to do that every time you install windows. If you try to reinstall windows and theres already a copy of windows on there, you can tell it to delete the old one, move the old one (which is what Vista does) or just install the new one in a separate partition. ALL of those 3 keep your files, but the first 2 mean you can't use that copy of windows or any of the programs installed on it anymore.

There is already a topic about Indigo Prophecy. Please look before you make a topic.

I'm usually in a cop car in SA, probably will be the same in IV (once I can steal them easily)

The staff agreed that your ban was unfair, so it was reversed. That does not happen very often, but you should be happy that it did - don't complain about it. When we say "ban" we mean permanent ban (perma ban), not a temporary suspension. Thank you for the apology, but please stop drawing attention to yourself now - this doesn't have to be mentioned again.
-
I just meant its the same as love from a man to a women, it isnt all about the bedroom. Some people seem to mention that every time they talk about people being gay.
-
You don't have to mention sex every time - that isn't all it is about. I'm not gay because I like cock, its everything else too, love is from personality to looks to everything else (I wont go into detail, dont worry).
-
We appreciate the apology. Well done for being a man and admitting you're wrong, not very people manage to do that. It's okay to think things about other people (we all do that), but don't try and force your beliefs on them. You don't have to agree with them, but just accept the fact that they're different. If you just go round saying that they are wrong and you are right, then you just look like an ass. To anyone who gets flame PMs - just DONT REPLY. That is a VERY simple way of stopping the argument. Replying and flaming them back continues the argument, and you are both equally wrong and equally to blame if you do that. If you must reply, just tell them the rules and say you won't be drawn into an argument, and report them to a member of staff if they won't stop. To everyone: We don't usually lift bans early, this one was applied instead of a suspension when it should not have been, and that issue has been corrected through our internal procedures. Don't expect to see it happen again in your lifetime, lol.

That's pretty much the right attitude. You don't have to agree with people being gay, you don't have to like what other people do. But you need to know that some people like different stuff to you, and that's okay. It's like music taste - Some (strange) people like Hip-Hop and R&B... god knows why but they do and that's absolutely fine. So long as they don't play any of that near me (I might be sick) then it's fine. Each to there own. They're allowed to like whatever music they like, even if I hate it, even if everyone else hates it.

Pride parades do two things. For one it raises awareness about gays, and if people know more then you dont get the silly ignorance above. It certainly isn't meant to be fun/entertainment for straight people. For two, its fun for gays to meet each other - I went to a gay bar in stoke last week and it was just fun being around other gay people, dunno why. So maybe they aren't good in themselves, but they're helpful. As for people being "pushed" into being gay, I find it very hard to believe that could actually happen. Sure if people already have doubts you can exploit them (I tried that once, only ended up getting hurt). Accepting, understanding and agreeing with homosexuality are 3 completely different things. As for parading around half naked, not really appropriate unless it is a particular well-publicised event (everyone in town knows thats happening that day and doesnt go outside unless they want to see it or join in) or in a private place (private/nudist beach, deserted area, private property). If I had a young kid (which I won't) I wouldn't let him watch half naked people of any gender, totally irrelevant of homosexuality. Btw, yes she would get mad.

Yep exactly. false positives are good, unless damaging action is taken (eg deletion)
-
BSoDs are usually caused by driver conflicts - Vista going "omg i dont know what to do" so it kills the PC to stop any damage happening to your hardware. If he has the most recent drivers installed for everything (especially the CPU and mobo) then you shouldn't have a problem. Start, Run, devmgmt.msc to see what isnt properly installed.

Theres 11 commas and nothing else in that paragraph - pretty tough to read. Sky is right - it complains because trainers work by editing the memory allocated to GTASA. That COULD be used for malicious reasons, but in the case of a trainer it is only being used to help you play GTASA. Actually antiviruses SHOULD detect it, because it is a potential security risk. If it doesn't detect it, then it shows the antivirus isn't good enough. You can just say "no thanks, I know this looks like a virus, but I know what it does and I want it to run".
-
Yep thats fine. And your display name is now just X-FaCToR which should work properly.

It actually turns out that your name breaks the PM system too. I can't send you a PM because it doesn't recognise the characters in your name. I'll get an admin to rename you ASAP, but your display name will stay the same (so you can still log in). As for the PM: 1) Save the image to your computer (if it isnt there already) 2) Upload it to resize2mail.com 3) Choose 50% smaller and hit OK 4) Save the image it gives you to your PC - right click and "save image as" --If that doesnt work you can click where it says "you can click here to download your image!" 5) Upload the image to ImageLodge.net, create an account if you haven't got one already --Or use imageshack if you prefer 6) Put that image in your sig I've removed the current image from your signature as it is way bigger than our rules allow. In case you need the URL of your current image, it is: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/9678/74478891pl0.jpg

It could either be the length of the name, or an effect of one of the silly special characters. People have had longer names than that and it has worked, so I think it is probably the latter. Rename yourself with some more... normal characters. That will also help prevent confusion and attempts to pretend to be you. Your signature is too large by far. Make a smaller one or remove it, or we will remove it for you. TM - RenderRow is the entire post, including the username, date, IP, tickbox, ID, profile box, post content, sig and buttons. The little box at the side with the avatar in can just be referred to as someones profile box, I think that's straightforward enough. RenderRow is the template file you have to edit to change the profile box, which is why Chris offered that name for it.

Ahaha - I just got that. wd

Someone's been looking up long words to show off . Pentatonic scales aren't really anything you need to learn to start off with, you just need to understand what they are and what they sound like (try all black notes on a kb). I've been playing my 'real' guitar (blue Ibanez if I didnt mention it... pics soon) for a month or so now, and I'm doing well. Having played bass before that helps a lot, but they are very different instruments. However, I still think the bass is more fun at my level - you can concentrate less, swing it however you want it and play along a lot easier.

Yay for winning the same award two years in a row, and a new one this year too. Congrats to everyone who managed to persuade other members how awesome you are, and commiserations to those that didn't. Best start practising your manipulation and sucking-up skills...

I bought myself a Samsung X22 before Christmas, that had Vista HP on it. This laptop isn't made for gaming, I have my PC for that, so I don't need DirectX 10 on it. I don't need any of the fancy extras with Vista, I just want a good reliable laptop that does the few things I ask of it (Office, Firefox, WLM, GTASA etc). So I put XP SP2 on it, and it runs like a dream - a lot faster than with Vista. I say so long as you know the difference, and you know the consequences, do it.

That means it can't find anything to boot from, such as a bootable CD or hard drive. Usually it blinks for such a short time you don't notice, then it loads the first device it finds in the boot order. Because it isn't booting, it just can't find your hard drive atm, or it isn't working. Since you've just been fiddling around inside the computer today, you probably just knocked out the cable to the hard drive. Check that. If the hard drive doesn't work, or if it spins and nothing happens, it might actually be broken. Go into BIOS (Del or F2 or whatever, before the blink) you should be able to see what drives are connected. Your hard drive will be in that list if it's working. If it isn't in the list and you're sure the cables are in, check whether the hard drive spins and vibrates when it's turned on. If it doesn't vibrate, power cable is loose. If it does vibrate, data cable (the wide flat one) is loose. In a quicker way of doing that (that might not work) is if you press F8 loads of times before the blinking underscore, that gives you a list of which devices you want to boot from. If HDD is in that list, it might mean it is connected. If it isn't there, you know it isn't connected.

That's just a map of New York with labels for the new names of each area. I made one of them donkeys years ago. That one has just been made by that magazine to show the same things as my map did - it's the best we've got to go on at the moment. You can assume where certain things are going to be (like the Empire State Building) because of where they are in NYC. Obviously not a very helpful map for ingame use...

Important: Multiplayer / Gang / Store Changes Imminent
Gerard replied to Chris's topic in Announcements
Lol you got post #250 Yeah that would work - and the disadvantage of having money in the bank is that gang members cant spend it even if they need it. The gang leader needs to be on to be able to do that? Otherwise every gang would just have all their money in the bank all the time and it wouldn't make a difference, then theres no point in having gang wars, so there needs to be a negative side to it, so that planning is important (having money to spend when gang members need it). The way to get round all that is by buying lots of stuff (weapons, ammo, armour, vehicles, buildings) then you wont lose the money that way. But if someone dies the weapon+ammo might be picked up by the enemy or disappear altogether. That is where strategy comes into play, so if you're going to die, die somewhere where the enemy can't get to you. -
Important: Multiplayer / Gang / Store Changes Imminent
Gerard replied to Chris's topic in Announcements
I haven't commented in here yet - basically I think tgtap multiplayer is long overdue, and I'm glad we're doing it. I just hope it's done properly, not just some shitty server that's run for a week and then gets left broken (like a lot of things on here seem to be). I think a cool way to do it would be to have one single map running 24/7. There are only 3 or 4 gangs, and everyone has to be in one of them. Members of a gang can join the map at any time during the day and go off and do stuff. Anything they do will earn money for themselves or the gang (eg by doing side-missions), and they can spend their own money (some of which is given to them by the gang leaders) on ammo/armour/vehicles etc. Each gang has various assets in their home city, including some sort of central 'base'. If someone from Gang A stands in the base of Gang B, then automatically Gang A steals $1000 from Gang B. Obviously Gang B will have to have people online to defend their base and stop people getting in. If Gang A manages to sneak in whilst nobody from Gang B is online, and they steal loads of money, then that is Gang B's fault for not having someone online. If there are only 3 gangs, that leaves 4,000 members per gang - easily enough for 24h coverage (even if 3,000 members in each gang are inactive). The gang has to persuade people to join it, so that it has good coverage. If a gang loses all or a lot of its money, then they can't buy any more armour/weapons/ammo/vehicles/buildings. This leaves them more vulnerable to other attacks, and makes it harder for them to invade other bases. So they might have to earn more money to be able to buy stuff they need to steal money from other gangs. This method of doing it (just a thought, feel free to rip it to pieces) allows for regular big wars as well as occasional small battles, and the leaderboard will probably change quite often as one gang leaves its base unattended for too long and the underdogs score a massive win. Obviously it can be tweaked to make it as defensive/offensive as required. Eg making a easily-defended base that's impossible to get into makes for a war that NEEDS lots of members and money/weapons/vehicles to be able to successfully attack. Eg making bases very easy to get into means you NEED a lot of members to defend and its very easy to attack, so money changes hands quickly and often (all day). -
Pinned at the top of Website Suggestions and Problems is a topic Gangs, Money, Store & Quizzes. Your question is answered in there.
