Chris changed the banner a week or so ago, simply to get rid of the old crap one and introduce GTAIV into it. The GTA IV page banner has also changed, but the forum one (which still has no IV) has not. If you check, you'll notice that Chris was never looking for "applications". It was a member that suggested the banner change, and was supported by a lot of people (myself included). It's great that the community asked for change, but not so great that Chris hasn't really bothered with any of the great banners in this topic, and made his own one (nowhere near as good). Perhaps make ones the same size as Chris's (1000 x 100) and he might be willing to change it then.

Submissions to the downloads database can take a long time to get approved, as currently it is only the responsibility of one member of staff. We are trying to get this speeded up.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP I NEED YOU TO SEND ME SOMETHING URGENTLY
Gerard replied to take4productions's topic in GTASA Modding
The models folder is several GB is size (due to gta3.img). No chance is anybody going to send that. If you uninstall the game, and delete the GTA San Andreas folder in Program Files, then when you reinstall it, everything will be back to normal. (If you just try to install SA again on top, that won't do the same thing.) -
If it freezes before the game has loaded, that means you have incorrectly installed the mod. If you made a backup (like you ALWAYS should) then restore the backup, and everything should be back to normal. If you didn't make a backup, you need to retrace your steps and try and fix the problem. The usual checks are: Did you install the bike on top of a car? Or did you try to add it without replacing a bike (you can't just add vehicles). Or did you replace one set of TXD/DFFs with differently named ones? Or did you not properly modify the config files. If you can't fix it, uninstall the game, reboot, then reinstall it. That will set everything back to normal (but your savegames will still be there). Then next time, back up

This topic has been moved to GTA SA Modding. Please don't tell moderators to close topics here - we know how to do our jobs. Also, try not to post in bold unless you need to emphasis just a couple of words, otherwise it makes the forum look messy if everyone is posting in random colours and font sizes etc. As Jake said, we have thousands of mods in our Downloads Database. If you need help on installing them, this subforum is full of tutorials, with the best ones listed here.

All the report system does is it sends a message to a page which staff can see, and links to the post you reported. You don't need emoticons to spam, you can do that with just words on their own. Taking out emoticons wouldn't make any difference, especially since nobody abuses the reports system anyway. The worst problem we get is people thinking thats how you reply to posts.

Well we were suggesting 1 subforum for all non-English discussion, as a trial. A lot of members will prefer to discuss in their own language, as well as participating in the rest of the forum in English. Also, I think we would largely rely on other members for actively reporting inappropriate content, as a new initiative. I think it's worth a try, but only if we get enough support from existing International members.
-
Thats entirely true, if you make a topic in German (for example), then only the people who speak German will be able to answer. But at the moment, only the people who speak English can ask or answer questions. So we're adding the choice of using any other language, in the hope that someone will be able to help the people who currently cannot be helped.
-
Well if we were to do this, there would be (at first) one International / multilingual subforum for all non-English discussion. In here, people could make topics about whatever they want, in whatever language they want. For example, there could be a French topic about whats your favourite GTA. Everyone who speaks french could participate in this topic. It would be called something like : [Français] Quel est votre jeu de GTA de favori? Imagine not many people on the forum speak German. If there are only 1 or 2 German topics (eg GTA topic and a general chat topic), that will be enough for the small number of German-speaking members: Deutsche Diskussion [Deutsche] Schwätzchen über GTA But if we had 100 German topics, they would all be empty: [Deutsche] Bevorzugen Sie Tommy Vercetti oder Carl Johnson? [Deutsche] Was ist innerhalb Ihres Computers? [Deutsche] Drei-Wort Geschichte (sorry for picking on those two languages, they're just ones I can translate)

Of course the UK part of Amazon will have PAL

Francis was in Liberty City in GTA III. Vice City had Escobar International Airport.

If there was going to be a (for example) French version of The GTA Place, it would have to be a completely separate site. Its own domain, its own news pages, its own information pages, its own downloads system, its own forums, its own members, its own staff. It simply wouldn't be TGTAP at all. What might be possible is to have an International subforum, where people can chat to each other in any language they like. If enough people speak other languages better than English, then it might be an option. I can appreciate that whilst many people can speak English, they would be more able to express their thoughts in their first language. There's no point having one subforum per language, as there aren't enough members for that, and most manage discussion in English, or use translators if they're really stuck. There isn't really much opportunity to have a separate language version, but I suppose we're open to proposals for experienced foreigners to allow them to set up their own site, which we might link ourselves with if it is good and well-used, possible even as a branch of The GTA Place. It would obviously have to be a language that a lot of members speak for it to be worth it.

Please stop discussing topics in topics. This topic is about VC inconsistencies, not about why a post was deleted etc. Stay on-topic, or your posts will be deleted to make way for real discussion. Your posts were fine, but people misunderstood your point. If you had introduced the topic by saying "these are funny things, and i'm not complaining at all" then people would not have gotten all defensive. Try to remember that people won't always understand what you mean unless you say it.
-
Please remain on topic, and please avoid endorsing/glamourising animal cruelty. Off-topic or immoral/gruesome posts will be removed and you will be formally warned.

It didnt die...

Guys, play fair. All he did was list the inconsistencies between GTA VC and real life, some of which are funny, some of which are intentionally ironic. At NO point did he say GTAVC was bad because of this. At NO point did he suggest it should have been more like real life. At NO point did he even complain, he just said it was strange/funny. So stop jumping to conclusions, stop making assumptions, and stop starting fights. Back on topic please.

This topic is crying out for deletion. But Sky's left it, so it's his call. Bronco92 is TGTAP's host, and as Sky says he has admin rights for any server-based problems.

Its not as straightforward as that, but Rep is only given in extraordinarily helpful circumstances.
-
Stop calling it negative rep Theyre separate things. Warnings are bad, Rep is good. They dont interact with each other, they dont add/subtract/cancel each other. Theyre two separate things that happen to use the same system (the warning system) to be added.

1) 16th March 2008 is not two months ago.. it's two weeks ago. And its in a smaller subforum. And its mostly relevant. Therefore it isn't a bump. 2) The "bump" was made by rohan265 from Sept 07 to March 08 - but that was a relevant reply and in a small subforum, so it wasn't a bump. 3) No, there is no need for caps, it's just rude. Use it to emphasise ONE word if you really need to. 4) Jake was right - If you find a bumped topic, don't reply. If you do, you are endorsing the bump and going off-topic, which is spamming. Just report it, and a staff member will look at it and make a decision. Jake - You were telling other members what to do, which is helpful so long as you remain polite. It's when people start acting like moderators by saying "topic closed" or "give him a warning" that is misleading and gets annoying. The reason we say that is that you may not be right - you might think a topic needs to be closed, but the Staff realise it doesn't have to be - if someone has wrongly said "topic closed" then people might think they can't reply there anymore. AIR - You obviously need a lesson on what a bump is. When someone replies to a very old topic (several months or more) with something not-very-useful, especially if it unnecessarily bumps the topic up to the top of the forum list in active subforums, then it is bumping. If it is in a nearly-empty subforum (eg Sunting), it is more relaxed because it doesn't bump up very far, and it doesn't cause disruption. If it is in an active subforum (eg GTA IV) then it causes more disruption, and we'll only allow it if it is an important reply. Replies in Pinned topics do not ever count as bumps. One of the original reasons we don't allow bumping is to stop people constantly bringing their topic up to the top so that people will look at it. For example, if someone asked a question about their game not working, and they replied every week (double post or not) so that more people see the topic, that is tantamount to spamming and is not allowed. In almost ALL circumstances, it is better to reply to an existing topic than make a new one exactly the same. For example, if you are discussing a specific mod, all discussion about that mod could stay in that topic, so that it can easily be found. If it has been a year since the last person posted about that mod, but you have something useful to add (eg the mod is back in development, or there is a version 2) then it is fine to reply. Replying with "lol me too" or "I agree", or a reply in an opinion topic (what's your favourite ___ ) isn't necessary and counts as bumping.

Keep warnings and rep separate. Rep is good, and gives you the green boxes. Warnings are bad, and are just messages to staff (unless you get a suspension or something at the same time). We used to just have the warning system, where every bad thing you did counted for 20%, and you got banned if you reached 100% (and various other sanctions along the way). A very long time ago that was abused The Rep system was introduced gradually, and there haven't really been any specific guidelines on when to give rep and how much to give. Thats why there have been inconsistencies.

Wrong forum. Not a very helpful tutorial - its just a link, and you say install. What do you take our members for? 80 year olds? I'm sure they can figure out how to install a program on their PC. The entire point of this topic is to say ".rar files open with winRAR" - or is it just a blatant attempt to get some Rep? You're going to have to try a lot harder than that. See Topics like this or this or this for ones that would get rep.

Geez are you people blind? The problem is nothing to do with the speed of the game, that is just the video messing up. The problem is that the game crashes. Often the problem is something to do with mods - for example, if there is a broken vehicle, the game will load successfully but then crash when it tries to spawn that car. If you've added mods, try restoring backups (if you made any). If you didn't backup, then uninstall+reinstall GTASA, and don't add all your mods on straightaway. Another thing to try is starting the game from the beginning, rather than using your savegame, and seeing if it still crashes. If that works, either re-do the game or download a 100% savegame from the downloads area.
