No it isn't, but when a company has been working on a game since the FU*KING stone ages you expect to see some amazing results. I am NOT putting this game down as this is going to be the biggest game of the year for gameplay alone but some fagot over at Rockstar is pissing me off with his filters......Why use filters if the game does not look ok by itself? I know all games use this but that is the last resort.......TO POLISH THINGS UP. NOT TO MAKE THE GAME WHAT IT IS. THAT IS JUST BEING LAZY!......... I understand why you are pissed. You are pissed because you have just realized, that the game you have been waiting ages for has turned out to be a pile of shit when it comes to graphics. I am pissed too, you know!...... ..... GOOD games DON'T always look like Crysis, y'know. Do you want the graphics to look like real life? Although, I doubt you even know what real life looks like anymore because you have had your head so far up your ass so long, you've forgotten what makes a good game, and that's gameplay. All i am saying is the graphics are good but not as good as it should be for a next gen console. You're acting like it's life or death & flying off the handle at perfectly reasonable people, seriously it's reminiscent of the comic store guy from The Simpsons. Now seeing as somewhere in that thinly veiled rant, you articulated some opinions about the the game I'm going to give some views of my own on the points that you raised. I get what you are saying about the duration of the developement period, the standards which have been set for graphics on next gen consoles & on some levels I would say that you have a point. After hearing about the PS3's capabilities, I pretty much took it to mean photo-realistic graphics from here on out...This is obviously not the case with GTA IV. In the game's defence however, I would say that the graphics have come on in leaps & bounds, adding some much needed realism to the title. The thing that you have to remember is that with some other games, the graphics can make or break them, but with GTA it is the tip of the iceberg, the scale of which we can not fully appreciate until we have experienced the game for ourselves. R* are pioneers, they are experimenting with all kinds of new features & levels of detail, so I can forgive them if the finished article doesn't have the same mind blowing visuals of the games that it later inspires. The graphics are not top notch of course, but real GTA fans would find that normal imo. Graphics aren't what most matter in games, unless you bought your console to fucking do sight seeings! We all do man, that's what we all have in common, they've not steered me wrong yet, so I have complete & unyeilding faith in anything that they produce. I think that as long as R* try to push the envelope & break ground in ways that no other developers had conceived, the graphics are going to suffer. Throughout the history of video games you could probably count on one hand the number of games that have managed to both revolutionise gaming & provide eye poppingly realistic graphics.
