Good news everyone! I've started working on our IPB3 upgrade again. I'm currently in the process of skin bug fixes, and have some code to write for things such as our customised warning/ban system as well as the display of news on the homepage. Once all this is done we'll be ready to upgrade the forums. The upgraded and improved forums are being skinned to match our latest website layout that we've been using since the start of the year. Our IPB3 test forum is now closed while we finish these final things. In addition to the upgrade, a few other changes will be made. Some at the same time, some later on. This includes a re-shuffling of staff members, some important rule changes, as well as some gang-related preparations. Timeframe for upgrading the forums is sometime this week. Hopefully on or before Friday, so that we have the weekend to work out any kinks. Since status updates from here on in are going to be relative small, it is pointless me posting about it all here. A good idea would be to follow @thegtaplace on Twitter to keep up to date with development. The forums will be taken completely offline when the upgrade takes place. We'll post an announcement regarding that the day before on the homepage.

Patrick Brown is back with some more amazing fan art, this time for The Ballad of Gay Tony. Check it out below.

Excellent. I for one, suspect Jace's fines to be overdue library books. You rebellious little library goer you!!

I interpreted it as he meant he would be looking at the rear of the car... which would be impossible to do on a 2D image of that. But yeah he meant have meant simply horizontally flipping it. Hmm...

Maybe they do it on a continent by continent basis. I'll wait til Antarctica comes around

Microsoft now have to guilt trip people into downloading their browser. Has it really got this bad? Shit. :/ I suppose there's no obligation to install it. Weird marketing campaign. Could work though, if it does then props to their marketing department, MS has been massively lacking there pretty much forever. EDIT: LOL it's for Americans. I didn't even see that. Haha that's lulzy. Fattest nation on earth has a marketing campaign for providing food to their people. Sure help the people who genuinely need it but surely some of the cretins in America must take advantage to save a few bucks. I still think doing it for starving Africans is a far better cause, not only that it surely must work better on a marketing level too.

Week five of our round-up, I've selected what I think are the best mods the community has produced this week. 1986 Audi 80 Audi Q7 Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee 2008 Dacia Logan Hummer H2 Porsche Carrera GT Toyota Scion TC 2.4 Tuning 2009 Volkswagen Voyage Comfortline In addition the new cars above, a few we have previously posted about have been updated with various improvements or bug fixes, so if you're using one of them you may want to re-download and update it to take advantage of the new version. 1969 Dodge Charger General Lee (Flag fixed, and now replaces the Dukes) Koenigsegg CCX (various bug fixes, plus new 3D interior) Nissan NISMO Skyline R34 GT-R Z-tune (various bugfixes)

Liechtenstein braces itself for a Facebook invasion.

Ha, I read that when it was posted and thought the exact same thing. The Guardian is one of the more respectable papers in this country. -
Download the standalone .exe from MS and install that, rather than updating through LIVE. here: gfwlivesetupmin.exe

And I just edited my post to reflect the fact you never posted any description. Shut your mouth.

Well Adobe Reader is bloated as fuck, and sucks. And you're probably getting permission denied errors since Adobe processes are still running (unless you managed to use all three of your brain cells to disable them). EDIT: Never mind. Disregard that... you could have posted the description as well so we knew wtf you were trying to do. But now it seems you regretted the decision to show us all anyway :/

What!? LOL it's the other way round mate. The drivers Windows Update provides for nVidia cards are known to cause problems. nVidia themselves always recommend you get the latest from their website, and not use Windows Update at all. Same goes for ATi although there's no known bugs with theirs. But yeah, the nVidia drivers are know to cause blue screening if you get via WU, so don't Can we close this topic now or is anyone still getting stupid ads? -
The Lost and Damned will be Xbox LIVE's deal of the week from 24th August, so if you haven't already got it now would be an excellent time to do so. The price is being reduced to 1200 Microsoft Points ($15 USD) from the usual 1600 Microsoft Points ($20 USD).

It doesn't. Mine doesn't anyway. You may not be using the RTM? -
You sure your Windows 7 install itself isn't fucked? If it's not just GTA IV you can't play but other games too it sounds like the problem is something other than the game.
-
GTA IV works fine on Windows 7, so it's not an incompatibility there (my own computer runs 7). Have you read this thread on GTAForums about it? It doesn't look like anyone ever found a solution. However by the sounds of it, reinstalling Windows 7 may be the only way around it. Seeing as the RTM has only been available a matter of weeks I can't see this being a problem for you since you won't really lose much data, and presumably you have some way of backing up any data you need to keep.

UK publication Xbox World 360 will be giving us the world's first hands-on preview of The Ballad of Gay Tony. According to the promo image the magazine will be on sale from Monday, 7th September. Rockstar have already given us a fairly vague "very soon" message for the first trailer, and we'd like to think we'll see this before September, and perhaps some screenshots too. Keep an eye out for more news soon. Thanks gta4.net

Oh I see, so when exactly are they officially opening?

Hackintosh boxes are fucking shit though (whichever OS distro you use). You need to use a real Mac computer to appreciate OS X. I know because I've experience with both. And Jace, all those things you said are ridiculous. Unless you're trying to use it as you would a PC, in which case you would probably find it difficult/frustrating. Surround sound is only a problem on MacBook's. iMac's/Mac Pro's are fine.

None of you guys live in America. Are you just putting in a fake Zip Code to sign up (I see it's a required field)? If so, how the fuck do you expect to receive anything?
-
Yeah because they're gonna believe 8 aren't they. Though you can get away with saying that if they're retarded etc. probably.

So basically you used to use IE because you can make glowing text? That's retarded. Seriously. You actually like the deprecated gimmicky HTML that IE has? And BTW, Gerard works for MS, hence him making that post above
