That makes no fucking sense, but awesome for you. Anyway, it should only be smooth when you play it at the native resolution since (I think) there is no scaling to be done. Whereas if you play on a lower res, although there's less space to fill it's still got to downscale. I still get crappy framerate on mine. Actually lost interest in playing it now. All a big farce at times. You know they should have just like, pissed us all off and delayed it a year. At least then though we'd all (likely) have better PC's or the parts needed would have come down in price.

Yeah you need a gamertag either from Xbox Live or GFWL, they're both linked so it doesn't matter which you have but you must have one to be able to play online. And it's free to register.

Not spam, no. We made it members only like you have, but you get people uploading other people's mods. And also you get people uploading really crap mods. Like they draw over the default VC skin in MS paint and think it's amazing. It's fine but it depends if you wanna just have good quality mods, or everything. We tried keeping only good quality stuff but gave in...

In your Local Application Data folder. Most modern games now use it for storing personal game data. On Vista it'll be something like this: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\user_LONGNUMBER On XP something like: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\user_LONGNUMBER Inside you'll find a number of files. SGTA412 is your autosave file (slot 12) The rest all start from 0, so, your save in slot 1 will be called: SGTA400 The save in slot 2 will be: SGTA401 etc. etc. They're 1.88MB in size and have no file extension, so if you're going to upload it you'll need to zip/rar it and probably provide a little readme so users know where to put it since the save folder has changed for the first time in 7 years - people won't be used to it.

They are at least aware that it adds massive replayability to the games, keeps people into the franchise, the PC versions anyway.

They shouldn't be worried. They added protection from modding which presumably is enough to protect themselves in the event of any legal action like Hot Coffee.

Gunner over at GTA4Mods has just given me the heads up that his mod manager, 4 Mod Installer, the first mod manager to be released for GTA IV is now online. Gunner, who has been working on the tool for over 6 months now, has created this tool to simplify the mod installing process for GTA IV. Similar to Vice City's VCM mods and San Andreas' SAMI, 4MI has both a mod packager and a mod installer. The packager creates .4mi files which can then be distributed online, allowing other GTA IV players to download and, using the installer, add into their game. 4MI also enables modding of GTA IV without the use of a patch, which is so far what users wanting to mod the game have had to use. You won't be able to add files that go in IMG or RPF files yet, they're still working on support for that. Until then, look out for modders starting to release .4mi mods.
