How did you get your resource usage so high above the supposed limit?

That's the best bike ad ever. Craigslist is shit but it does produce some real gems of comedy.

No replies? I'd try it out myself if I could get the game running smoothly at a higher quality. Surely someone here must have used it?

To fix the MMA10 error just sign out of Social Club.

As does everyone else. I'm surprised they phrased it like that because forums across the web are rife with people complaining about how poorly it's running on their systems. The main point to take from their message is that they are working to solve all the problems, so we can hope that a patch is released soon.

whos running a nvidia 8800 gts with this game?
Chris replied to derekod's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
I have 4GB of RAM and it's the 64bit version - it's fine. Anyway, updated my graphics card drivers for the 8800GTS and I can get much better settings now. Compare these with the ones I posted above. Also, I overclocked my processor a little which may have helped, you may also like to try with yours. -
I took a look at the files that were installed, some new stuff now stored in csv and xml files which is good to see, also familiar files from GTA3 series games such as carcols.dat, vehicles.ide and handling.dat... so it's definitely moddable. Once tools such as IMGTool are updated, or new ones written by the talented members of the community, we'll start seeing stuff popping up. I guess people will start converting their GTA3 series stuff first before we start seeing scratch made mods.

Rockstar have sent us a message regarding the issues some people are experiencing on their installations of Grand Theft Auto IV. They are advising people having problems to contact their local technical support helpline, or use Rockstar's online support page.

whos running a nvidia 8800 gts with this game?
Chris replied to derekod's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
Depends on your other specs. Like you two I also have this card and I'm still playing around with the settings to try and optimise them. Ideally I want to play at 1680x1050 but it's impossible with the game limiting me. So far I've got this but the FPS isn't too great, but it's certainly playable, just not as nice as I'd like. I'll post again if I find a way around this. Just noticed I should probably upgrade my nVidia drivers... I'll try again after. -
They were playing on an insanely powerful machine Social Club is fucked in the ass right now. I think pretty much everyone gets the MMA10 error, which you can fix temporarily by signing out of Social Club app on your PC. Installation for me was about 30 mins, registration/activation/date check was all instant. No problems whatsoever there.

Not a finding, it's an official R* document which we've posted in the news. Topic closed.

Having problems getting GTA IV to run on your PC? Rockstar have uploaded a few documents to their GTA IV support page. This GTA IV error codes document explains all the common errors such as the MMA10 error, and how to fix them. To get rid of MMA10, you can sign out of Social Club as a temporary fix. Another document explains each graphics setting in GTA IV, you may wish to read about this if you want to make the game look better, or if it's running too jerky, reduce some of the settings that will help it run smoother. We expect Rockstar will soon release a patch to fix the common problems people are finding, but until then you have these documents and of course our forums for general support.

Rockstar Games has announced three special online events in honour of Grand Theft Auto IV and Midnight Club Los Angeles. Kikizo actually mentioned a bit about that last competition for journalists in an article yesterday, saying "the winning magazine or website gets $10,000 from Rockstar to donate to the charity of its choosing". Good stuff. Links: Social Club Social Club TV

Stop being such a dick about other European countries. You know Macedonia isn't that great anyway, I couldn't name one Macedonian to save my life. You're going wildly off topic, this is to discuss the inventor Nikola Tesla... why are you talking about Serbia being greedy? Also did you notice his date of birth? He DIED in the 1940s... your "50 years ago" comment makes you look like a cretin now. Please try reading what a topic is about before making senseless replies like that.

I'll be able to tell you tomorrow when I get the game. I'm sure there are a few other members here running dual cores that will be getting the game today/tomorrow. Once they've finished their epic gaming session today they'll probably see this thread and give their impressions.

The security updates don't usually contain minor things, they're always for medium-high risk issues. Blame the plugin makers for only making them compatible for a minor version number. They're supposed to make it compatible for any version of the major number, e.g. 3.0.1 or 3.0.4 it'll still work. The jump to 3.1 might have new features/code so that's a legitimate reason for not making it compatible straight away until it's been tested.

Oh God you can tell it's my style of writing still and everything :/ LOL. I wrote quite a bit. It was a group effort but I was the best at writing in that kind of sarcastic style so I was the one who typed it all up Also we shouldn't have used real names, that was kind of dumb Shit. Might have to pull some strings to get some of that stuff removed...

yes, the good thing: more publicity for this awesome site. bad thing: i predeict a huge flow of noobs newbies questions like 'why IV dont work on my pc????!!!111one' or other obvious, easy to answer questions. i have 2 questions i would like answering: 1- does the windows 'live' go by/use gammertags? (i own xbl and do not plan to buy pc version and have never played Windows live games) (this one is for the moderaters)2- i uploaded some mods quite a while back witch still havent been approved.. please inform me of the problem.. thanks Well that question doesn't really have an obvious answer, there's loads of genuine problems that could occur. 1. Yes, it shares accounts with Xbox Live, so your XBL gamertag is also your Windows gamertag, and vice versa. 2. There is no problem. We get a lot of uploaded mods here and many of them are actually other people's. And also, many of them are crap. E.g. people open up MS Paint, draw all over the default skin and upload it here because they think it looks funny in game or whatever. Not saying yours are shit, I don't know what you've uploaded. But because of this I usually download each mod and take a look at the files to see if they're actually someone else's or they're just crap. I'll take a look and see what you've uploaded and approve if necessary

I'm actually on the Uncyclopedia article for my home town. We edited it at school to take the piss out of all the people in our class we didn't really like... except they found out and kept editing... somehow found out I was involved and linked all my sites in the article and named me... then they locked the article so I can't edit it

That's worrying, I have the same graphics card as you but won't get the game until tomorrow. If you've already updated the drivers then I'm not sure what to suggest. There's always the old "reinstall the game" option but I don't think that's the problem here. You sure you're definitely changing the options? I mean on GTA3 for the PC, you could hover over the option with your mouse, and sue the scroll wheel to change it. However, unless you actually clicked the mouse, it wouldn't change the option and just reset it to what it was previously... I can't remember if this issue was fixed in the later games as I haven't played them for so long. But it's just something I thought of that might be relevant...

Today's the day. Grand Theft Auto IV is now officially available in North America for the PC. Those of you elsewhere in the world like myself will have to wait just one more day until it's in stores, though no doubt any of you who preordered on the Internet will have received your copy early. We invite any of you who already have the game to share your impressions in our forums. Should you require any assistance with the game, either technically or with missions or achievements, we have dedicated GTA IV forums for gameplay discussion, mission/achievement help, technical assistance, multiplayer and of course, modding. To post on our forums you'll need an account, if you don't already have one you can head over to the registration page to get started. It's free and only takes a moment to complete. One of the benefits of an account is the ability to upload mods to our downloads database. We know that very soon we'll be seeing some great GTA IV mods getting released, and we'll likely be featuring some of the best ones on our homepage, so if that's something you might be interested in, sign up! Enjoy the game!

I don't get it with the fingerless gloves
Chris replied to unlimited90's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
So you're talking about the console versions and not PC?... that's the whole point about why this was such a big deal. It was a much wanted feature not in the console versions, which has finally (apparently) made it to the PC version which is why everyone is happy. -

From a Swedish torrent on ThePirateBay. They're not your screens. You're not even Swedish. But nice try. -
Several gaming websites have begun uploading various gameplay screenshots from GTA IV on the PC, some of which are in the highest resolution supported by the game, making for some decent eye candy. Shots from PCGamesHardware.de can be seen over at our GTA IV PC screenshots page. A small sample is below. More (low resolution shots) can be found at GameStar and 3DJuegos - links below.
