  1. My recent head scratcher was just installing Windows 8, and found I was trying to do so with full RAM installed, which won't EVER work, so it's proof there's sometimes something very simple causing MAJOR headaches
  2. Try one or two mods you can keep track of at one time, My first assumption is it's too much modding, which could mean trouble when you troubleshoot. I have the PC versions but yet to mod them, Seems I will have to do some of that of course, being that you can run Renderware GTAs on a lot more machines without worrying NASA tech is lacking.
  3. I was Googling it all over, nothing about a delay earlier.... odd that As far as it making no sense, PSN as I said was initiated under PS2, this is true, and it would have supported online Playstation 2 infrastructure, but maddening gamers, Sony scrapped the plans in favor of PS3 at the time. The whole Emotion Engine issue came as more SKU and corner cutting arose. that's where I think consumers basically get confused if it's not made clear. What is the extent of shared programming on PS VIta and PS3 capability or offered games on PSN, so I am happy if they've over come any issues thought to exist in the past I did clarify I moved away from PS3 when GTA IV gave me plenty of unknown origin troubles. To the Xbox camp, somewhat reluctantly but just so Fanboys know, I had always intended to own both, seeing as they will be around for the 10 years predicted, as we wait for even one official word about next gen consoles, the companies are glad not to have to compete for a while longer in that arena, because it's a definite challenge Thanks for the tip though, I like to know BEFORE I spend cash on it! haha
  4. Can't edit since I left the site/page... perhaps triggers that whole thing, but this find video wise is worth a historical prospective To do the same for PCs and Apple products would take marginally longer! haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzHrbBoXd0Y&feature=related
  5. Stemming from user comments about GTA in HD and whether PC alone can offer that, I saw a few noteworthy comments regarding the PC Elite view and Console "fanboyz" Fact is, consoles didn't just come up with the current crop, they've been here for all of our lives, A bit longer then home computers I'll also have you know. I was alive in all these years, I know the console gaming experience of the mid 70s, simple black and white graphics, Vector Graphics and Coleco / Adam of the 1980s, Tandy, Atari, Intellivision, simple stuff but if you wanted the real gaming experience, you went out to any arcade you can find with a pocket full of quarters. To suggest the PC versions of GTA are HD is not fairly accurate. The comments that console owners and players voiced was with regard to GTA and Rockstar centering their engine and efforts for the well established console home gaming market. It got that way over time dedicating hardware specifically to gaming. Computers allow this much more in recent years and decades, one can say since 2005, so the current battles have to do with more powerful consoles and PCs sharing similar capabilities...but all along, the PC is intended for anything it can do, a console is expressly made to do gaming, and do it as well as need be or expected I've only come down on the side of controller comfort, which is not perfect, but nothing in this life is... And my purchasing based on proposed software obviously, as well as a capable entertainment system, in it's own way, the console can handle multiple entertainment needs, and against the PC's faster then normal evolution, meaning expense is greatly increased, even with lower software retails This guy probably said it best in his response; 'I never understood how someone could seriously use that statement, "real gamer/true gamer". I guess we're supposed to only like and do what those people say is best. Ok everyone let's all cry together now because we don't have highend pc's. ps360x, we suck bro, our inferior consoles make us fake gamers. Why do we go on living?'
  6. The cross-platform thing is confusing was hoping someone can fill me in, if I own a PS2 I buy specific software, in the case of PS3, I was having issues with that BD drive even when it came to GTA IV on the original 60GB I paid over $400 for. The optical drive was a problem for several serial number PS2s, I was declined a trade in pawn in a pawnshop because they were going by these same serial batches as troublesome units. Most of you know RROD is such a mess, you only get a week or so to test a purchased used system, a month at best. Of course the 60GB has that magic Emotion Engine chip, offering backward compatibility, and after the newer SKUs I got a bit confused about what was going on there, since it had been rumored the chip would be supplanted by firmware emulation, I am sure some site got the specific timeline with specs out right, but I'd just moved to Xbox and it's assorted problems Anywho, I'm still a bit confused if this is hardware specific requirements to download from PSN http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/27/grand-theft-auto-iiis-release-date-on-playstation-network
  7. It's not a stretch to think artists already appearing in GTA prior, could return in GTA V, many suspect some kept genres but I also expect some new, a 60s or early 70s progressive radio station very likely List what you think is the most likely or what you hope to see or has the best chance in GTA future/neXt, or GTA V specifically? For me, more KISS, more Black Crowes, more The Who. Perhaps even Genesis and Phil Collins I believe Sam Houser said that QUEEN was a personal favorite he was proud to have as well as David Bowie or Elton John, so my money would be on those as well
  8. I invite old console gamers to have a say here as well. I mentioned my exposure to the oldest tech was Apple II series in the late 1970s, I even got to do a learning course on TOUCH SCREEN Control Data system or something similar. In the age of the Apple, scanning of photos and the modem I saw evolve along with MIDI and other various Multimedia and telecommunication come to the consumer, it was all too expensive too, my dad invested in a system based on my input as well as other kids in our family who also were exposed to Apple. I remember us shopping for a VCR and going with Beta too, but it wasn't as much input on my end as some might think, though I learned Beta was thought highly for it's attributes as the best tape format, though not as widely accepted. For consoles, I used to play them in the stores as they were setup to show off systems, the age of Atari 2600 and Intellivision, Sega Master System, etc. My Apple //c is one fine portable Apple from 1984, the age of the original MAC as well, and I plan to keep my Apple //c for all my retro software there. I felt I must have a Floppy Disk of the modern variety, used on Apple and PC, and for many a year. Strangely and funny enough, in the used market, I scored a Sony Mavica digital camera using floppy disk storage, it was a lot of fun to see this media have even more life!
  9. Sorry to tack appended posting on this, but..... Prime example; http://www.gtaforums...c=498872&st=140 ...we can talk bad about GTAF because it's simply not getting better, despite staff calling into question the size as an excuse and cop out, I said as Waddy told me once, if you want the biggest site with the most members, don't complain about it to those who are attempting to be long term members, which I was, I 'rocked the boat' only in unseen and unheard complaints made after I posted things, though I got warnings, I had an honest, non-comical rebuttal but if no one takes things seriously, they won't listen to your side, just those complaining, and again, I tend to disagree strongly with their opinion as objection. Many people might not get something I've said, but it's never intentional... NEVER. I stand on truth and fact, if I get it wrong, it's human, ya know? If not.... Anyway, in their Gen Chat is a list setup (above) much like the Awards, Who is the most creepy, most likely to flip burgers at (Burger Shot) or become a rapist (rather offensive, but I suspect it's based on odd posts or age difference), and Biggest Spammer I make the list when I've been banned, but Hey, I'm not allowed on there, so quit voting me in there, it makes no logical sense, which is the whole of the issue, I think. In the words of the great Dave Mustaine "Whaddya mean I'm not Kind?? Just not your KIND!" hahaha
  10. Service pack 2 and 3 are intended as HOTFIX roll-ups, or security patches, not really the same as patches done specific for consoles or portables like the PSP firmware updates, it shouldn't really impact gaming or using software that's not reliant on security of the OS, Major software additions for Service Packs include new IE updates or Windows Media Player. It's hard to say one thing or another is really a culprit, but removing SPs can mean a lot more sketchy OS, since all improvements to secure and fix vulnerable holes in it are left off, of course. I'm not really hearing XP SP3 being an issue, but take note that Service Pack 2 should be run with Windows Vista, it's run really well since those patches from all I've heard
  11. You sure? Sounds a little "underpowered". GTA IV is next gen gaming as far as the first GTA for Xbox360, and Playstation 3, it runs very choppy on PC, even ones that handle normal games, shall we say. Older versions of GTA do run on some portable devices
  12. Got a funny local store pic to append. Chris should add post Posted Editing of previous topics, seems lacking and found on most other sites if you've logged in your status Doesn't seem to upload local JPegs anymore, hmmmmmm Oh well, oldie but TRUTH The men in the photograph helped craft The original ROOT OF ALL EVIL radio show in the Twin Cities, USA, it continues in memory of the late Earl J. Root
  13. I was re-banned, the same week a friend FYI'd me about it, but it was really too little too late to make an improvement, NO ONE on GTAforums staff talked to me, they just out and out banned me, and ultimately it comes down to the HATERS of the GTA community, they can't accept people different then their narrow minds can grasp, even one on their staff calling me a racist, without any real knowledge of me, so the disdain is two fold. Hate me, I'll hate you back. Really seems flames as such are accepted all the time on GTAForums, and I see better conduct elsewhere. Reminds me of the old days of Usenet where I first came online, it was nasty in there! Girish never hassled me but he certainly PMed me with silly hateful comments about how I post and conduct myself. I never do this to others, honestly, it's beneath me and I shouldn't be prompted to stoop to such levels, but I resent their actions and foolish rulings. Spam is only what you deem it as, each person really has a different feeling on whether "SPAM" on a forum is really an anecdotal comment that perhaps veers "off topic", never once was I offending others to warrant the ban, and of course WARN LOGS grow if they maintain them forever. I did things I regret, but not in recent years, really. Very few regrets over my Improved (as I was voted in their polls) nature. I'm always willing to extend a hand in friendship and kindness, but the haters can't ever get past their petty hate. As for any mod theft or otherwise from JimmyT, he's young, under 20 years of age, he'll mature as well. He seems to have put most of his past issues to rest, one can only hope.
  14. Mostly I'd wish they'd decide to promote it or just release the dang thing! Also, more interiors on par with how many buildings there are, after all, too much of GTA is literal window dressing, and eye candy What GTA needs in a larger reality is more things hidden about, something to obtain by going somewhere, simple as that! I'm so fed up with this Rockstar GTAV procrastination, I'll be forced to take weeks off from looking for new breaking news from their camp. I hate to resort to this, as you all know...it's an extreme measure on my behalf
  15. Use one topic and section to ask this, it's the same as your earlier post. Shader Model 4 supported by Intel graphics Inside? 1GB of v-Ram? Likely it's shared system ram, with an old Core Duo, and having experience with older Toshibas before, I wonder where your specs come from? haha
  16. Not your worst computer owned, but rather what do you keep using and still have from the GOLDEN AGE of PC/Digital Home Computing If you wish, tell us about old game systems, but Legacy hardware refers to any old scanner or trusty card reader as well Do you use PC's Serial or Parallel ports of old? Do you still wind up using old Internet or USB 1.0/1.1 at all? For me, yeah, I use a Canon i-series printer for it's affordable ink and relatively good prints, it uses USB thankfully, but I did try to get an old scanner, I used the Parallel port for Bi-Directional storage, I bought an HP data based DAT drive, using SCSI, and a SCSI PCI card to support SCSI opticals! haha Just keep that around for a nice retro rig. I also obtained an original 5 and quarter FLOPPY disk drive for old ATARI game software, if nothing else I have Toshiba Pentium 90Mhz laptops still, amazingly those old Lithium Ion batts still function! First PCMCIA (PC Card) media card reader I still have, but compared to USB, still slow and you notice PC Card feels too long in the tooth now, since I keep using it, but I have a PC Express card slot with no expansion just yet, been holding off on USB 3.0 for that however.
  17. As I mentioned about my findings with laptops, a few typical OEMs solder the GPU in, whether it be Intel, AMD or nVidia, so it won't really allow GTA gaming to a good extent, as needed. The other issue is if Vista or Windows 7 works, then it's best to stay on those OS formats, XP SP3 should work OK, but original problems with Service Pack 2 had spawned reports that gaming on SP1 with XP was preferred, for online use, stick with all the SP for safety sake, but offline gaming or on a drive you can risk malware infection (games online and SA MP on a safe server, should work to revert even further to SP1)
  18. First time owner/player/user? Never had a Next gen "computer" to play it? Intriguing .... Anyway, online MP consists of you racing others, hunting one on one, timed events, or Open Free Roam / various missions with you and a crew against AI tasks, akin to a normal GTA mission you do alone. Not at all bad, but most people I met just blast each other or take as many jumps at the airport for Gnarly air!, or, as I did, race to get a spawned heli and bomb people below... which upsets most players, but what the heck!?? As for the main game, at this point it's best to get the two DLC with the main original release, all sold in one nice package
  19. Gonna start another topical thread on GTA 5, 5 years in the making, not much known at all! hahaha This one will center on what GTA attributes are worth keeping either for one successor or for GTA as a franchise What is most likely in your own mind, what makes GTA or maintains what defines the series? Some people think it should pertain to crime in the more original idea of Gangsters or at least a young protagonist they can relate to. My thought has always been that a mature title with enough controversy already doesn't need kids in it, it's gotten by with believable factor so far, however, as it strives for even more realistic game play, a slightly younger character seems hinted at with the suggested cast leaks. We don't really know that yet I do expect animals to liven any NON city locations, where the vibe should change as it is seemingly transforming so far as a series. Definitely ditch the police WANTED level system, more improvements in crouching and using anything in the surrounding, as far as climbing Parkour style
  20. Some feel there's a resurgence for Music Videos and only music visuals, like MTV or MTV2 of old. When I saw MTV2, it was actually broadcasting on what is now THE COOL TV, two music channels on FREE TV here in the USA. (the other being Country, simply titled as well) It's ultra rare to have that but reviewing comments in recent years, it's suspect a vast majority of YouTube surfers are in fact choosing music video, the outlet seems to have supported TCTV since it's inception, but it plays adverts every two music videos, which seems excessive. Just weigh in on whether you think there will be future improvement, and what you watch in terms of viewing habits, or in year's past, when MTV really was ground breaking
  21. http://on.aol.com/video/517427862/?icid=maing-grid7|maing8|popular-videos-5min-main|sec3_lnk2|175872 New updates say his time behind bars and that small detail about a sketched out notebook sent to the school was not opened until after the shooting, and the suspect was taken in. The questions around the notebook center on "was this a cry for help"? I doubt it. Was it true that the shooter had been seeking help, or it just happened there was a physchitrist there who helped students and was chosen on that merit, and if he was seeking help, why would his parents remain uninformed? The previous news about Holmes is that he maintained spitting in defience against his captivity and was forced to wear a mask ...again reported in the press, all I know as far as any fact
  22. I've spent near on a day hunting still, 200 in all... Pigeons around GTA IV, hope this is done differently in the MUCH LARGER GTA V MAP TO COME, but I'm posting this to see how well you all did, is this the most daunting task in GTA IV? Well, I can't get 100%, but normally I find all the hidden trinkets. So.... at present, as I post, down to about 42 left. I did try cheating, using a guide seemingly taken from the in-game computer WHAT THEY DONT WANT YOU TO KNOW website hasn't helped all that much though
  23. Did you need to DITTO the topic title in the posted thread body? It's too long, just FYIing ya As for a similar situation, I started a new game on Xbox for GTA IV, it asked me about AUTO SAVE, in that it would record over the "FOUND" spot, which would clear all data on that save, and there's a number of save spots, a full screen's worth, so deny that up front, start the game, press a prompt to skip the credits and then get to the normal MENU listing GAME in GTA IV, if you can't see it there, then it's an issue with formatting perhaps
  24. Can it be played on a PS3 though? I keep my PS2 in storage and the controller and AV cable went MIA. I doubt the online store really supports cross platform at all, though the PSN was instituted around the Playstation 2's Network hardware, which I DO have, but it's 56K isn't it?! haha The PS2 has Firewire iLink and USB ports but never really uses them in all the ways possible, that I know of, anyway. The PS3 can broadcast wireless to PSVita and I believe Vita could get a redux version of Vice or GTA III, but of all the GTAs, an original reboot of GTA III as you say, in HD with the same plotting and characters, missions, just re-dressing it modernized, would be acceptible to fans and I would bet it could make some serious money, but not all GTA players might feel dedicated enough to "double dip", I have the version on PC and PS2, but I feel it's just plain flawed, and that can stand to be remedied to this day, just rebuffing it with motorcycles and 360 viewing, jumping from vehicles at speed, Better water and swimming, as examples
  25. Vice City is much easier then GTA III for a regular play thru without any cheating, if you look on YouTube, some handy guides exist for the sticking points. Way back when I had to race Hillary in the game, I was stuck and short on patience, but one YT noted trick works by cutting his car off at the parking ramp, then you can continue on to score a needed lead in the race
