Where have you seen snow in GTA IV? If you mean those squibbly dusty lines in the scans, then those are dust, because my scanner is quite dusty. But if not just carry on lol Looks like snow to me... Right the two pics posted here is actually rain. 1st Pic: Its rain that goes onto the camera like in VC after it had been raining the camera would have rain drips on the screen for a couple of seconds. 2nd Pic: Its just heavy rain!

Earlier this month we revealed that a selection of privileged websites were receiving hands-on demonstrations of GTA IV, and that previews were due to be published some time around the 27th of this month. We now have a confirmed date for those previews, and that is Thursday 28th February, which is two days from now. You can expect previews from Kikizo, GameSpot, IGN, and the usual suspects. We don't know the exact time of release yet, but expect it to be around 5PM or 6PM (GMT). Source: GTA4.net

Electronic Arts’ move to acquire GTA publisher Take-Two is driving Ubisoft to speed up its own shopping plans, says the company’s CEO. According to a Thompson Financial report spotted by Next-Gen, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that EA’s $2 billion bid to purchase Take-Two was forcing the company to re-evaluate its own expansion strategy. In other words, it’s looking to get to the shops before EA buys everything. "The desire of EA to buy Take-Two pushes us to go faster, to accelerate internal growth but also to look at acquisition opportunities," Guillemot said. But despite how great it’d be to halve our daily PR phone calls, it doesn’t look like Ubisoft Midway is going to happen anytime soon. According to the report, Ubisoft is likely to focus on expanding its game license portfolio rather than targeting any major takeovers. Of course EA also holds a 15 percent stake in the French Publisher, but the chances of a future hostile takeover look even more unlikely thanks to success of Assassin’s Creed, which is expected to clear five million units by next month. That’s a lot of Altair’s. Source: CVG

The Australian federal government says it is considering introducing an R18+ classification for games. Such a move would allow the sale of more explicit titles in the country, reports The Sydney Morning Herald, although any proposal to extend the R18+ rating - which can already be granted to films and magazines - to games would have to be agreed to by the Commonwealth, states and territories. The possibility of whether or not to allow an R18+ classification for games will be discussed at the next Standing Committee of attorneys-general (SCAG) in late-March. Under the current guidelines there is no adult classification for games in Australia, so titles that fail to satisfy the MA15+ standard are banned from sale in the country. In total 18 games have been banned since 2001, although eight of those bans were later lifted after modified versions of the games in question were resubmitted for classification. Most recently Australia’s Office of Film & Literature Classification (OFLC), the country’s classification board, refused to grant Digital Extremes’ Dark Sector (pictured) a rating. In response to the news the Australian Family Association said that it would be opposed to the adoption of an R-rated category for games. "... We believe that research is pointing to the fact that these games actually do impact behavior and psychology more easily than a film," said spokesperson Angela Conway. Source: CVG

Jack Thompson Served With Court Order
MarkD1990 replied to IllusionMPN's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
Ye JT did ask R* to remove it, but I don't think they did, because it was said that it was the first mission, but this was said when the 360 version was near completion, but they would have had to edit alot of things in so little time, so I say no they haven't removed it. If im kinda wrong, then carry on lol -

GTA IV’s drunken antics a technical advancement
MarkD1990 posted a topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
NaturalMotion’s ’Euphoria’ technology, being used for elements of the Grand Theft Auto IV engine, actually makes the player getting drunk in-game a realistic event, with unpredictable outcomes. CEO Torsten Reil explains that when lead character Belic gets drunk and staggers around in GTA IV, this isn't something that's being delivered via animation, but rather the console's CPU is simulating what happens when the character drinks booze in real-time. "There is a drinking mini-game in very detailed form where you can get drunk and he can actually then stumble around and you have to get home," Reil tells GI.biz. "But all of that is fully simulated. So, it is not based on animation any more. It is actually all synthesised on the CPU. Which means that it has a completely different outcome every time you play." Live world simulation is possible thanks CPU technology advancements, the console synthesizing events on the fly, rather than calling on pre-defined animations in a given situation. More on this as we get it. Source: Play.tm -
PSM3 Provides In-Depth New GTA IV Details
MarkD1990 replied to MarkD1990's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
Ye I am getting alot of info. And if you read the above carefully, it is quite good and Peds call cops if they see you carry a gun, and when you pay in a strip club, the women will strip. -
PSM3 in France has a new issue coming out to newsstands on February 25 with GTA IV on the cover. Seven missions of gameplay spanning four hours let these journalists dig up new information. The information was badly translated from French to English, so I polished up the English and here is the result: # According to the journalists, the first hands-on minutes were enough to solidify their feelings of how the game is going to kick ass. # Liberty City has more streets than any other game in the genre. # You cannot enter into every building. However, you can interact with most of them. Rooftops, stairways, fire escapes, partial interiors, etc. # Niko will not be able to manage property, gangs or trade. To what extent, tho? We do not know. # Bowling, dart games, drinking games, strip clubs and night clubs will be available. # The core of GTA IV is all about the human relationship. # Sometimes, your contacts may call you during a hard mission to ask you a service. In this instance, you can choose between the mission or whatever your contact is asking. If you ditch your mission to do things with your phone contact, you may see consequences. Whether or not you will be able to replay the mission that you went away from remains to be seen. # The new impression of seeing a next generation living, breathing city is absolutely stunning. # The pedestrian population density changes between the place/borough you are in. # If you walk around the street with a gun in your hand, pedestrians who have a phone can call the police. # In one instance when Niko tried to carjack someone, the scared innocent driver sped away so fast that he hit two cars. # During the first mission that the journalists played, they tried to carjack someone without a gun. The driver beat up Niko. Niko got beat up so bad that he ended up at the hospital. # Pedestrians react in a very realistic way. The journalists said that it is as if each person in the game leads his/her own life. # It took 15 minutes to go through 2/3 of Manhattan with a boat. It took 10 minutes by car to go through Brooklyn and Central Park. # The cars can be destroyed very realistically. Every part of the car can bend and fold. # GTA IV has a wider variety of mission types. The missions are more difficult than in previous games. # The game is done. Most clipping bugs are gone. The game is super smooth in terms of frame rate. (Note: The game is not 100% done. It is not "gold" yet.) # If you press the jump button, Niko can climb everywhere. In other words, wall climbing from San Andreas has returned. You can strafe on walls, too. # There is swimming club. # If you have five stars, it's very difficult to escape from the cops. They are everywhere and they don't joke with you. They are cleverer than in previous incarnations of the series. # While in a boat, the sound effects are awesome. You can hear the sound of the waves that beat the front of the boat. # With powerful weapons, you can shoot through the walls. # The weather that was seen during the four hours of gameplay included fog, rain, sun and clouds. A variety of colors can be seen depending on the time of day. # When you die, you pay $100 but you get to keep your weapons. # When you go to jail after getting busted, you pay more than $100 and you lose your weapons. # While you are drunk, it's very difficult to control Niko. The drunk sensation is perfectly done. # When stealing a car from a pedestrian, Niko didn't get into the car before the pedestrian sped up. Niko held onto the car as the pedestrian glided along the road. (Note: It may have been the pedestrian holding on to a car Niko was in. The translation is sketchy.) # Choppers with search lights are in the game. # Women will striptease in strip clubs when you pay. # Depending on the borough you are in, pedestrians may speak different languages. Italian, Chinese and those in the Bronx are different when it comes to language. # Health kits are available only in buildings. # Grenade and molotov cocktail sound effects are stunning.
