Back on topic please - gay marriage, not genetics Remember, that "Best Debater" award is up for grabs...
-
Firstly, just because it isnt' a choice doesn't mean it's genetic. Just because you're born with something, doesn't mean it is passed on genetically. I'm gay (in case you hadn't figured that out), and I never chose to be gay (which most people appreciate). However, I have an absent father, overbearing mother, and I went to a boys-only school. That's got to have something to do with it. I personally blieve it is decided during puberty, not through a choice, but due to a wide range of environmental factors. Probably combined with a random predisposition to be suceptible to it, like some people get more colds. Even if I was always this way (from birth) doesn't make it genetic. It does not mean that a gay man would have a gay son - that simply isn't true, even slightly. There is no "gay gene" or anything like that. If you are suggesting that a child brought up by two men (but with a straight biological father) is more likely to be gay, then that is more realistic. However, is that suggesting that it is infectious? When you have a girlfriend, does that make you more likely to want to wear women's clothing? There's a difference between a role model and a contagious disease. I don't think you can force sexuality onto someone like that, or I'm sure homosexuality would be just as easily preventable. Don't forget that both my parents were straight... they didn't have a straight son. Why would a gay man have a gay son?
-
Again, there's absolutely NO difference between gay and straight marriage in terms of loopholes. Do you check that straight couples are actually straight before they get married, just in case?

When will people learn? Downloading or copying a GTA game, without buying it, is ILLEGAL and will not be tolerated on these forums. Asking for instructions on how to crack, or assisting someone to use a crack is against the forum rules. Do not do it.

K9 Krew and Godfather better show up this year!

I think a few people are getting this mixed up... gay marriage wouldn't change that much, only allow gay couples to get married, when normally they would just stay as couples. Banning gay marriage doesn't stop us getting together, just prevents us having the same rights as opposite-sex couples. This isn't about allowing or disallowing homosexuality or homosexual couples, it's just whether or not they can share a surname, share an income, get the right benefits, adopt children or whatever. It's just a legal status. In the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Spain and Norway (and soon South Africa), gay and straight marriages have exactly the same legal status.
-
It will of course be explained in the nominations topics. However these people didn't know that was going to happen, so they weren't sure if they had to do anything now. But if you wait until the nominations are open, all will be revealed.
-
I just don't see marriage as an attractive proposition. Perhaps my view on that will change. But I certainly think it should be permitted for any two consenting adults. I don't think allowing gay marriage affects anyone. It won't change your life at all unless you are directly involved in it, and it isn't causing harm to anyone, so I don't see the problem. Yes a lot of you don't agree with it, but give me one real reason why your life would be any different if it existed?
-
Me? No... course not...
-
Sorry... why would a gay marriage be more likely to fall apart than a straight one? Why do you imply that it not possible for gay people to feel love? I didn't realise people thought this. Sure loads of people think its unnatural, and loads dont approve due to religious reasons. But actually believing that homosexuality doesn't exist? Or thinking that its somehow less real than straight love? That's just insane. Spare a thought for those 14-year-old girls with kids. They are straight, therefore they MUST be in love. And of course ignore all the 50-odd-year-old gay men I know who have been together for decades... What we don't allow (and what is illegal) is making unreasonable assumptions, or stopping someone doing something for an unrelated reason. For example, saying that a gay/black/old person can't get the job, or vote, or come into your bar or something. Saying you disagree with homosexuality is fine - that's an observation, and the truth (that you don't agree). Same for saying you think that gay marriage is wrong. However, saying "homosexuality is wrong" is completely different, and not provable as true, so it is just you forcing your beliefs on someone else, which IS wrong! Personally, I don't feel the need to get married. And gay marriages even look a little weird to me. However, I see no reason (at all) why gay people should not be allowed to marry, even if loads of people don't agree with it. I don't agree with pineapple, but other people eating it doesn't affect me, so I have nothing against them eating it. I don't like rap music, but nothing wrong with it existing and people listening to it. Just don't force me to eat pineapple or listen to shizzle-dawg-nigger or whatever they're called these days!

I went to an all-boys school all the way through puberty (like 9 to 14), and that no doubt played a part in turning me. I can imagine it being awkward, but there are a lot of other reasons why I feel awkward about people I knew then.
-
What about simply "Topic of the Year" - which could include several contenders, such as GTA IV wishlist, something in FFAG, something in serious chat etc. Could even do "Post of the Year" too...
-
I thought of that, but how do you prove someone is from another country? They might have been born in France, but lived in England all their life. Or they might be English, and just recently moved to France.
-
Instead of "Most Active Member", have "Most Visible Member" for someone that it seen throughout the entire forum, talking about lots of different things, and helping people in loads of different places. In addition to "Most Intelligent" perhaps have the "Best Debater" or similar, for member who contributes best to serious/religious/political discussions etc in Serious Chat. That's a very positive award that would encourage people to debate well, rather than just have lots of userbars in their signatures. Thomas' idea of "Best English" is sort of a good point - the person that writes with the best English rather than what you'd expect from SMS/IM, again encouraging members to work harder and try and gain this award. I think you have a LOT of Most Knowledgeable (GTA) awards. Are we still going to have one for GTA III every year forever? Perhaps we could start merging the old/shit ones, so: GTAIII/VC, LCS/VCS, SA, IV. Hottest member doesn't show up in your list? Perhaps add Best Stunter (IV), but I'm not sure if there has been that much activity there yet. All the more reason for it to be an award, I suppose.

Grand Theft Auto vice City weapon list issues
Gerard replied to Ultraussie's topic in Suggestions / Help / Bug Reporting
This is most likely becuase the weapons ingame don't use real brands and trademarks, so they take representative names. Just like vehicles. Or are you saying the names on the page are different to what they're called in-game? -
Certainly doesn't come with Windows. It's most likely part of a mod installer, GTA multiplayer or trainer or some GTA-related tool that uses that font to show weapon icons.
-
I've heard of a tesla coil and the Tesla unit for flux, and I knew he had something to do with AC. Are you just bringing him up cos he was an American Serb? I thought race didn't matter anymore...
-
You can't use this forum to help you break the law. Buy the game like everyone else.
-
We don't allow discussion or instructions on how to 'crack' GTA games, because there are a lot of members attempting to illegally copy the game rather than buy it. Certainly we can't allow direct links to cracks. Because you seem to believe that it is required for your mod to work, I've left a note in your post explaining that it is needed, but you must NOT link to it.

How inappropriate... But Happy Birthday Mike!

Mods need to be approved by staff before they appear. There is a bit of a backlog, so this may take a while. Be patient and it'll show up eventually. Don't upload it multiple times, because that just makes the backlog worse and delays everyone else's mods.
