There's still a lot of feeling that its bad or wrong, but obviously I disagree. I don't see it as admitting it, like admitting a fault or mistake; but its something some people dont like, and thats their problem to deal with. The issue comes when they treat you badly because of it, which is why sometimes you can't tell people.

I know how you feel. Shame that many people dont feel comfortable enough not to say it, but there are still times when i simply don't mention it, just cos its easier.

Again... nobody is saying it DOES exist, but obviously it is impossible to prove that there isn't any life on the entire planet. The suggestion is that (as well as water) they have found something else, and haven't announced it yet. Perhaps they found bacteria, and are testing whether it is from Mars or just contamination from Earth. I think it's certainly possible, bearing in mind how the Moon was made from Earth's dust, if anything remotely similar happened more recently then life could easily have been transferred into space, eventually landing on something like mars.

If the HD is clicking, thats bad. Thats usually the drive head (reader) hitting against the platter (disk), which can destroy the data on the disk. Every second that it is on is closer to the time it will stop working. If it still works, get all your data off it straightaway and don't use it again. If you can't get your data off, don't use it at all, and send it to a data recovery company. This is a mechanical problem - nothing to do with windows, and formatting won't help. Just backup as quickly as possible, and you can't rely on that HD working ever again (unless you want to wake up in a few days and find out it doesnt work anymore).

Who said anything about downloading games? mss32.dll is part of Windows, which could easily have been corrupted during a bad install or malware. The problem is that this quite often happens when someone tries to install a cracked game, including GTA VC. For this reason, we won't help. We will not help you to obtain or use an illegally downloaded (or copied) version of the game. That is totally illegal, so buy one.

On this note, please make sure you aren't posting just to increase your post count - that's called spamming. Post count is just a measure of how many times you've made a new post, whether thats a massive useful help topic, or just some nearly-empty reply in a quiz topic. It doesn't say much about you at all, and isn't a very useful measure. That's why there's no point in spamming the forums just to increase it. Not directing this at you, but there are some people who amass hundreds of posts a day without actually saying much at all.

You aren't just buying a new one because of these problems with Windows are you? You can just format them, good as new. Or buy a 2nd to increase your storage space without wasting your existing one.

Even for ALL of those reasons, doing an OS install without formatting would have worked, AND kept all your files. It was your explorer.exe that was infected, not your C drive folder. You dont need the backup wizard at all - settings are easy to replace, files are not. Just save your files onto a disk/drive/FTP, like you did.

Do you guys have a clue what you're talking about? Solid-state means no moving parts, as in flash drives, including solid-state hard disks - as opposed to magnetic hard disks. That's got nothing to do with being "on the Internet" or at home. "Internet" servers are probably more reliable cos they're managed by professionals, not 13 year old kids who accidentally wipe their hard drives and lose fluffy toys in the side of the PC they're trying to unscrew. Not pointing fingers, but I've seen it happen so many times. If CSS wouldn't launch, why didn't you just re-isntall Windows? You dont HAVE to format when you do that, the installer can just delete the old copy of windows and install the new one. That way you keep all your files, and you get a brand new fresh copy of Windows. External hard drives aren't expensive, you can get small ones for virtually nothing, and they are absolute lifesavers sometimes. Failing that, a couple of DVDs should do you for most your stuff.
