  1. I think the lockpicking idea is a nice one, so long as you meant that instead of just not being able to get in the locked car you can lockpick it. Not having to lockpick every parked car. That feature could be introduced in the starting mission as well. First mission: Various cutscenes, introducing character and plot. You end up in jail in City X, you have to talk to a fellow prisoner, and 'borrow' his nail file or lockpick or something. You kill a cop in easy hand-to-hand combat, open the door, and run into the yard. You have to get in the marked car, which is locked. You pick that lock using the pick and smash through the gates to freedom. You drive round the block into a garage. You meet another character there, and you can being exploring the city. And why the hell were people suggesting R* should just put Liberty, Vice and SA together?!?!?!
  2. Thats a point, but the sooner the rules are enforced, and the barriers put up, the less likely we are to suddenly stop someone in their tracks and annoy them. Changing the rules is something n00bs don't like, they take it personally and think we're ganging up on them, and they retaliate like selfish children. We set the rules now, and then they can see that they're there for a reason, and there's nothing personal about that. And yes i remember mgilb - he wasn't too bad a dude, he just wanted to be remembered i think. He took what we did personally, which shouldn't have happened, but did. We set the rules to keep the peace here, and he thought we did it just to stop him. Banning him (with good reason or not) was what sparked off his spamming spree. He didn't understand that we're here to talk about GTA games, and he was stopping that so we took action to prevent him disrupting things. In future, we have these rules set in stone, and people can see them, and they're there for a reason. Please can all new people who read this realise that these rules are there to keep everybody happy, if you want to ruin the forum, then you can be expected to not be allowed to visit it. Thats simple enough to understand. There is nothing at all personal in what we do, it is just so that everybody else can continue talking about GTA, and having a bit of fun with the rest of the community here.
  3. People's lives have been pretty fecked up. Circumstances beyond our control, and often before we were born, have set us in bad stead for life. But we have obviously all overcome most of them, or else we wouldn't be here now. We all have internet connections, come from good countries, and stable (enough) families - not full families with two loving parents and 2.4 children, but familes that are (in the most part) self-sufficient. Okay most of us aren't rich, and we don't have everything we want, but most of us have a mobile/cellphone don't we? How many people in the world will own one of them? Not many. So okay, things aren't perfect, but they aren't bad. We are educated, with most going onto further education, some probably going to university. We all get fed (okay maybe not the nicest food sometimes, but we can survive). A positive outlook on life has really turned mine around in the last month. After a really bad year, accumulating in me coming out to my mother, I decided some things had to change. I look forward to what is coming up, and i've even got involved in a fair few things i would never have done before. I am in the school rugby squad, going to every 1st XV match. I film it, and act as the mascot - stirring up the gang before they play. Okay maybe i lead you to believe I play, but I havent done that competitively for eons. The school is getting an OFSTED inspection all next week, and i've been selected for an interview with the inspectors. No idea what that's going to be like, but it indicates they trust me not to say anything bad . Trust is a very delicate thing, gets broken easily, and superglue, just shoving the problems together, doesn't really do the job. Things are looking up for me, my schoolwork's going good, i found my mobile charger, the school seem to love me, and i'm working on growing a few more pairs of hands. I'm also much more outgoing than i used to be, saying and doing things i wouldn't have dreamed of even last year. All my friends have come to terms with my sexuality, and a few adults as well. Okay my mum's never going to be exactly approachable about things like that, but at least it doesnt get mentioned anymore. So for all you guys out there, who don't know what they're doing, who're stuck in a rut, just look up. You don't have to smile, you don't have to swot, you just have to stick with the system, and live a little. People don't give a damn about you, thats what you've got to realise, nobody cares if you make an ass of yourself, more people will respect you for being able to do so in fact. Thats what i found, and I'm feeling great - just waiting for my 500th post now.

  6. Seriously, stuff like that just isn't worth the few bytes its taking up. From heronin, anybody showing viewpoints sympathising with terrorists, or promoting terrorism will just be banned, no questions asked. I'm going to censor that post now.
  7. Avatar: 7/10 - nice to see someone sticking with something, its his kinda logo now Sig: 6/10 fairly nice, would be better without the blue outlines though, give it a glow or something Personality: 9/10 Seems to be taking to the mod position pretty well, and follows the rules, great job
  8. ^ hahaha @ the film < watched it in the cinema - thats good enough v wants to read my review of the film here
  9. You assume he means vice city because he posted it in the Vice City help forum
  10. ^ doesnt know about anti-alias < films rugby matches v plays rugby
  11. mvi, he's asking why it doesnt work, not how to restore it Jesse, if you install a mod that changes the mission script, your save games won't work, so unless you are prepared to start again, its best not to install these mods. What you need to do is uninstall the mod. If you backed up the files you edited/replaced before you installed the mod, restore them. If you used an automatic installer, use that to uninstall it. If not, then your best bet is to reinstall the game. Don't worry - your savegames are stored in 'my documents' so they wont be wiped if you reinstall the game.
  12. How about a break-out-of-jail mission? Maybe even at the start of the game - like GTAIII started with breaking out of a police van. That would be a good mission to teach the new and/or basic functions, presumably things like use, talk, fight, pick up, open doors, smash glass, then you go into the police compound, nick a squad car, break out the gate and go to a hideout.
  13. It isnt just IF branded forums that we don't allow, its free in-built ones, like the one you have displayed. Get your own proper hosting if you want to be successful. *link removed*
  14. ^ Got that email i sent him < only sends emails to nice people v sends emails to women who hate him
  15. Your friend's neighbour? You come from Virginia, right? Your friend would probably come from Virginia, right? Not from Scotland, where Rockstar North (who make GTA) are based. And no its not true
  16. I think he means mobile cranes, that you can drive and pick up cars and stuff. That would be fun, especially if you could get a wrecker ball as well - smashing up any building/car/cliff/tree/old person
  17. We let validating members post. Its basically a flag, so we keep an eye on them, and if they cause any trouble whilst in validating mode, they will not be allowed to be full members, and will be banned.
  18. Thats why Firefox brings up a message asking if you really want to close x tabs. You get used to it in a week anyway, and with the new firefox, new windows never open - everything is in a new tab, even popups. (of course you can disable that)
  19. its where one little pixel on your LCD screen dies - stops working - goes kaput:
  20. To be perfectly honest, I could never be arsed with consoles. Okay so i'm like the only person in the entire world not to have a PS2 (including uganda, FYR Macedonia and the southern Mongolian plateau), and i did own an NGC for a week.. until i got bored and took it back. And i did borrow my uncle's PS2 for a couple of weeks once. Other than that, its only been the occasional game at my mates houses and my PC (but a limited games selection) Okay it would be nice to own an Xbox 360, but I wouldn't buy games for it, and I wouldn't play it enough to warrant buying it. About £400 for the premium console and games, two hundred more for a selection of decent games, another hundred in a couple of months time, another hundred after that. I don't want to spend £800 just on playing games, when i can spend £300 on PC games. Yea okay I'm sure most of you could counter that easily, but I dont have that sort of money to spend on something that I won't use every single day (like my laptop - which i bought myself). My parents won't buy me anything like that, they don't give me any allowance, they can't treat me anytime. For my birthday i got one single present - that was three bars of chocolate from one of my mates. Money is not something we exactly bathe in, but its something we can get if we need to - I'm sure many people here are in a similar situation. Okay we're not starving or in old clothes, but luxuries only extend to bubble bath and Ritz crackers with Phili - not three multi-hundred pounds boxes that i'll rarely use. I don't have a tv in my room, so i'd have to use the downstairs one. So yea, consoles aint my thing, but if i can't be arsed to upgrade my desktop (which i never use) or laptop (which would be expensive) then i may just slip a 360 into my collection. I'll wait for the PS3 just in case Sony give us some last-minute stunts. I reckon if they're smart, Sony will suddenly bring about an upsurge of PS3 excitement just around the 360 release. If they do, I'll wait for them.
