No problem, it's nice to see new people taking the time to make sure they're understood. It makes things easier on the rest of us. See you around.

Complete retards who think they're geniuses. They go through life thinking they're smart when in fact they screw up everything they touch, usually causing headaches for everyone around them. On the up side, they're also the basis of a philosophy that has served me well: NO HUMILIATION IS SO GREAT OR SO HUMOROUS AS THAT WHICH IS SELF INFLICTED. It's best when they do it to themselves.
-
Sucks that that's the one place they're neck & neck (all the tech issues topics w/ GTA4) At least R* seems to be fixing theirs.

The last couple days when I spend more than a few minutes on a post my new posts disappear. I select "view new posts" & only see what has been posted the last few minutes even though I had several pages when I started to reply t a topic.

I recently loaded up GTA4 going after the achievement for "Deal Breaker" & doing some free roam, literally just after playing SR2. GTA's "realistic' handling falls short of SR2. The Shafter drove like it was on ice, SR2 cars almost always had better handling. The NRG 900 sucked in corners whereas a SR2 Kensin carved nicely. These observations were made from actual gameplay & not fanboyism. R* (GTA4) Advantages: The cars look a lot better & more realistic. They have set a high standard that few have come close to. Since I replaced my X360 w/ an elite, GTA4 has never crashed & always runs smoothly for me. Multilayer. Generally fun & lots of options, one of the main reasons GTA4 went over so well. Match making goes fairly quickly & when people act like they have manners it leads to good games. Fails: The quest for "Realism" has made GTA cars a chore to drive, taking some of the fun out of a great game. Limited sidework, R* should have left in ambulance & firefighter in, these are longtime parts of GTA & GTA4 just isn't complete w/out them. The taxi is limited to just a few scripted missions. Multiplayer. Funny, this one is both an advantage & a fail. SICK & TIRED OF "BOOT THE HOST". I got GTA4 at a midnight release & since have only been in 2 boat races & maybe five heli races. Have learned to hate super cars in star junction. Host should be immune to being booted & the ability to arbitrarily boot an unruly player. No parachute. Liberty screams for one w/ all the tall buildings & R* dropped the ball on this one. Volition (SR2) Advantages: The cars are (mostly) fun to drive & handle decently, controllable & fairly predictable for the average gamer. In all fairness I lost interest in PGR & similar games because oversensitive handling, just not into it. Activities, hands down. There's a dozen or so varied activities you can repeat as often as you want. Diversions, see activities above. Armed robbery barnstorming, flashing & mugging, all in one convenient game. Parachutes. They're automatic & base jumping is a blast in Stillwater. Base jumping diversion can give you one of the best abilities in the game, falling from any height w/out injury (land on the Saint's gang car in the middle of the target area. Fails: The two biggest exceptions to the above are the Socialite & Zircon, both great cars from the first game that are horrible to drive this time. Helis, particularly the Thompson are notorious for flipping over on landing. I love to fly but really miss the SA Maverick. In general they're a little delicate. The collision files. While cars themselves handle decently, the way they react w/ other vehicles really needs work. When driving the Bear (heavy 6 wheeled tank) you're constantly "scooped" by other cars & carried off, especially cop cars. Not only unrealistic but extremely annoying. Glitches. WHF?!?! SR2 is the only game I have that freezes my console, especially in activities. In co-op skip the cutscenes, especially the ending ones. I've had a few harder missions that I've had to redo because the end cutscene froze my deck. Multiplayer. On average you sit 5-10 minutes & wait for matchmaking for what seems like 90 seconds of play. When done you get kicked back to the main menu. There should be bots you can call in to fill a game & a host w/ options to set up a longer game. Overall winner, kind of a hard call. If you're objective about it, you'll see there's room on the shelf for both games. They're both good games that have their faults, but then what doesn't? People have called SR/SR2 GTA clones & if that's the case they're the only ones to come so close. If anything Volition has given R* good competition & reason to improve. Take the best parts of both & you have an epic game that will never be beat. SR2 gets the kill shot w/ it's co-op play. Whether it's devaluing property w/ a septic truck, raining hell on the Brotherhood w/ an attack heli or cleaning out a Ronin basement casino, SR2 co-op just rules & when you're rollin' w/ the right partner it's easy to overlook SR2's shortcomings.

I can see it now, pigs driving old trucks. Welcome to rural San Andreas. http://www.porkopolis.org/lib/ziffelbio.php He occasionally drove a Model T.
-
Start w/ a decent car like a Comet (still one of the best cars in the series) & work from there. Before long you'll be back to your San Andreas antics. The Rebla (common in Hove Beach) is also surprisingly decent to drive.
-
That's probably exactly what it is. Or a mod (if used) is having an unexpected effect... Or a cheat (again, if used)... Or R* intentionally made this randomly show up to screw w/ people....

The context of this topic is unused weapons actually in VC, not ported/converted from other games. I think there's a topic on deleted weapons in this forum, but it's back aways. It was a melee weapon that was cut from the final release of VC. There's also one about Fort Baxter, originally twice as big as the one in the final.

FG - Whaddup, long time no see. Volition needs to get a patch to address some on the issues in SR2. A couple nights ago I was doing some co-op & redid the first mission. The game crawled during the boat chase, at best running at about half speed. There's also the issue of occasionally freezing on the X360, especially after the end cutscenes in co-op. A real pisser if you just did a pain in the ass mission like "The Siege". For my tastes graphics don't have to be up to the minute as long as the game runs smoothly, especially in view of my older computer & justifying the cost of upgrading. One of the best games I ever played was Star Wars: Dark Forces. Compared to the new games people would commit suicide en masse over this one, but it was a great game. I found my old 486 in storage recently & am thinking of clearing a spot for it just so I can play around w/ my older games.

Probably a glitch. Or the cop was the chief of Police. Are you playing PC or console version?
-
It probably depends on the car, they're all tuned a little differently.
-
That's got to be at least 30 years old. I remember when those were new.

Okay, short version. How will SR2 look on a machine that runs GTASA nicely? 280 gig of HD 1 gig RAM Nvidia 5500 w/ 512 meg video RAM AMD Semperon 2500+ Vista - I take it they fixed some of the problems in Vista (wasn't too long ago you didn't like it). Either way, I'm about to find out for myself. Got a new Compaq for the GF & it's Vista Home Premium (w/ AVAC & SP1). I've got the '37 Ford w/ a warm Flathead, she got the new Mustang.

I think it's doable, RanxoraX discovered a bunch of hidden peds that could be changed out for your animals. The biggest issue would be animations for 4-legged animals. From there you edit their characteristics (are they scared or aggressive towards you) & put them somewhere in the game, both w/ simple DATA edits.

Hospitalisation from Wii and American boy drives from GTA
Urbanoutlaw replied to Slyde's topic in Members' Lounge
FULL POINT! The whole point of the Wii is to get kids active & it's backfiring (which sucks). Part of this is parental responsibility, they need to get their kids active instead of letting a Playstation babysit them 24/7. Yes, I spend a lot of time playing video games. I also spend a lot of time doing physical activity (work, which pays for the video games). -
^^^ Problems w/ Spaz's V1? $150k for a Nissan? Ouch! By the time I have $15k (total) into my '00 'Stang that Nissan will never catch it. Kangaroos - Probably tastes a lot better than opossum (one critter I won't eat).

Expect a lecture on copyrights & warez for bringing up opening the PS2 version, just a headsup. As to your question, R* typically writes GTA as a PC game & ports it to consoles. Part of that is cutting unused things to save space on the disc. A good example is looking at San Andreas on the PS2 then looking at on the PC version. The textures are more detailed & there's more scenery. The AK isn't there because it's not used in the game but was probably used in the beta but never made it to the final. There's also a stungun that didn't make it into the final version.

Congrats Artur, see you in Liberty.

BTW, your English is better than a lot of people who grew up speaking it. Read the rules, welcome & enjoy.

Hospitalisation from Wii and American boy drives from GTA
Urbanoutlaw replied to Slyde's topic in Members' Lounge
I'm sorry, I missed what cars are driven via VIDEO GAME CONTROLLERS? J(A)T & his like really need to sit this one out. As for the Wii injuries, maybe public schools should consider an introduction to Wii classes (seriously). An ex US Navy Seal I know of recently played around w/ Wii Fitness & got a case of macho (even though his wife warned him to ease into it. She had it for physical therapy & weight loss). The result was he pulled muscles he forgot he had after setting the game on "expert" settings. -
Depends on the mod. I've found old DATA edits in newly installed GTASA. If you want to get rid of the old mods, Uninstall your game & defrag your drive. This overwrites to old files, otherwise Windows tends to see them & re-use the old ones.
-
Don't, it's a shitty port, for why see this post. If you're going to get the game, you better have a computer built by God himself or at least get it for a console. I've found chris82 tends to know what he's talking about so if he says don't waste your $$$ he's probably right. Stick w/ the console versions until they fix it for PC, this one sounds like another Scarface (love the game, hate the glitches). X360 version is fairly stable, only locks up occasionally on sidework or during cutscenes in co-op. Multi-player is okay. In view of the recent release of a PC version the video is relevant again as some people have no interest in consoles.

Shall I get GTA Vice City Stories?
Urbanoutlaw replied to Bulletproofboy's topic in GTA Vice City Stories
Have PS2 versions of LCS & VCS. LCS has incomplete buildings as you were never intended to have access to a heli. VCS graphics are horrid, (I think they used the PSP) graphics instead of at least upgrading to the original VC. That's the worst I can say, both have good gameplay & are just plain fun. VCS has extra content on the PS2 & both games were $20 US at release, they should be really cheap now worth the time. -
Need a Save Game before Mission Money or Revenge
Urbanoutlaw replied to Farhan Master's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
I presume you're playing PC version. Sorry, don't have that one yet. For the benefit of others I'd suggest turning off AUTOSAVE (should be in options) & save manually when you have major decisions or open savehouses. If you have saves from earlier in the game try reloading from there. Good luck. I don't know about PSN but so far I've yet to hear about a way to share saves on XBL.
