Ciaran
My parents recently bought me a new computer. Being the evil parents they are they didn't tell me they were getting me one. Since I know nothing about computers, could you please tell me if my computer is any good and even guess what price they paid for it (In £'s). RAM: Windows: Windows XP5.1 (Build 2600) Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.11 Memory (RAM): 1024 MB CPU: Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz CPU Speed: 1808.0 MHz Sound card: Realtek HD Audio output Display Adapters: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS | NetMeeting driver | RDPDD Chained DD Screen Resolution: 1024 X 768 - 32 bit P.s. What newish games could it play on decent settings?
Charger
1GB of Ram is good, your CPU looks like the only downside. As for the games, you may need a better Video card, well for current Games. Edited January 2, 2008 by Charger
chris82
Pentium processors are horrible, sorry, but if you upgrade your graphics card you'll be able to play Source games on high settings. Not Crysis, probably not COD4, etc...
Huckleberry Pie
You can play some games such as GTASA with that rig; I'm not sure with the other games...

I'm running on an AMD Athon 64bit 4200+ (2.2 ghz, dual core) and it pretty much rapes. Looks pretty decent though, both of you. But boo for Intel

Pandora
Conroes kick ass, Sky. Also, why the hell did you take a 8800 GTX? That's about the most stupid choice you could make. 2x 8800 GT, buddy. Cheaper, faster. @Ciaran: To be honest.. I don't think you actually can run all the latest games with that. Perhaps upgrade the Graphic Card (and maybe even the CPU if you don't mind spending a bit of extra cash).
GTA Don
Parents...*tut* They always get you a shitty PC. I'm guessing they spent around £300 or £400. Edited July 2, 2008 by GTA Don
Pandora
Not always. Last time they got me one (read: 4 years ago) they gave me one of $2300 USD. Good one, in those days. Parents do tend to believe all those advertisement crap. Like when they advertise a P4 2.4 GHz as Ultra fast (yeah, even these days).
Charger
I been looking for a new Video Card, but I just found out their prices, and they are 200$+ well the good ones are. I'll upgrade my Ram to 4GB in the coming months. Edited January 2, 2008 by Charger
Pandora
4gb is over the top. Fast 2 gig is enough. And yeah, graphic cards come at a costs. You can get a really good one for 'just' 250 though, which can sort of match the GTX.

But boo for Intel intel core 2 quad q6600 has 2MB of cache each core u know...AMD Phenom quad core processors has 512kb of cache each core i know that AMD is suitable for playing games because its pretty good...(Intel also good for programmings!)
