mr man
All there is, is a little box at the side, maybe make it bigger, add statistics box at the bottom joining maybe. And there should be space for 2 more recent discussions in the forum box on the homepage. The forums are a big part of this site i'd say. There's my suggestions . BTW i'm talking about the small forums box on the homepage, not the frums page. Edited March 29, 2005 by mr man
Airashii
It's not that, TheGTAPlace attracts absoloutely loads of guests, it's just making those guests register and stay active.
mr man
Well ok then, but it should open on a different window when you click on a thread on the homepage, so you don't have to go back to the hompage, and you can refresh easier. But i see what you mean, the threads aren't that active, that often(i have no idea why, this place is ace ) BTW the polls should be put below the forums box on the homepage. mike_subuzi
Yeah i agree they is sometimes a lack of activity in some of the threads people could paste the site in there sigs on other forums to be noticed more .
mr man
We've gotta find a way to make the forums more active, i see other forums with people posting alot more often. You'd be surpirised how much difference it'd make if you put the forums box on the homepage at the top, make it a bit longer going down and add a statistics box joining the forums box at the bottom(eg how many members, most ever online etc). Just try it for a week. Edited March 31, 2005 by mr man
mike_subuzi
The max number of members here in a day is usaully about 30 and we have more than 1,000 members registered . and people who joined months ago and have 3-8 max posts .
Sherman
Well, yesterday, we had more hits here than anywhere in our history. The trouble is getting people to sign up.. some people go to a lot of forums, and don't want to be active. Which is fully understandable.
mike_subuzi
Well i would reccomend 2-3 posts a day . 2 posts is not much to ask from somebody .
Sherman
Like I said, maybe the're active at another gta forum, just come here to look , and leave. You're not going to get anyone to post two times a day..
Cough7007
I think the forums are doing fine. Nothing to change. We get enough members to join. Besides, if we have enough for a conversation like this, I think we're good "member-wise", eh?
Spaz The Great
Two-three posts a day is pretty weak. What's the difference between a bunch of people posting 2 and 3 times a day, or half the people posting twice as much?
Slavik Von Stockholm
Its about this active on other forums too. Comparitively this site does about half as good as some considerably much bigger sites. GTAgaming has 22000 members on it and yet there are only at a quick guess 50 members active on it. Plus this site is doing a LOT better than some other jokers around. Chris
Yeah. I'm going to use some statistics from other forums to show you how comparitively inactive they are compared to us. First example is GTABoards. Now at the time of posting this I just went on and gathered this info: 25 guests, 19 members 0 anonymous members Now that's more than you'd normally see here, BUT, look at the timescale, they have active members in the last 90 minutes, that's a whole 3 times longer than our forum is set to, So, that's why they look more active, but if they made that to 30 minutes like this forum I'm sure it would be around the same figures. Now, using that information on total members to members actually active, we can see they have thousands of useless members, compared to our hundreds, yet the same amount of active people. They have nearly 13000 members, we're pushing 1300, I don't know why people complain about inactivity here because if they'd just take a couple of minutes to do what I just did they would realise it's the same on other forums, it's just we have less members so we seem less active. mr man
Put the forums box at the top so people can see it easier.
Chris
What do you mean "the forums box"?
mr man
On the homepage, you know, at the side.
Spaz The Great
On the homepage, you know, at the side. Actually, no. It would look like he was trying to get you to notice them more than the site. The area with "Home"((usually with "About" and all that other stuff)) ALWAYS looks better at the top. It's fine where it is.
mr man
I just mean't that on the homepage, the POTD box or the polls box should switch places with the forums box.
Spaz The Great
I just mean't that on the homepage, the POTD box or the polls box should switch places with the forums box. That is stupid. The navigation should stay together. It looks unorganized with shit all over the place.
