chris82
That makes no sense, the 8800 beats the shit out a 6200...in fact almost anything does. The 6200 is a different chipset so you can't just look at the core clock and say it's only a little better. Get a new graphics card, or you will NOT be playing GTA IV on the PC. Shortbus
Will an Nvidia card even run on my board? I have a PCI-E x16 slot right now. I feel at a crossroads because some tell me no, and some tell me yes. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...56&csid=_21 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...p;Sku=A271-3870 For me it's between either of these cards. What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the 3870 unless told differently. EDIT: Will a PCI-E x16 2.0 card fit into a PCI-E x16 slot? I am fairly sure it will. EDIT2: The Sapphire card is FOR DX10, which I wont have because I dont have vista... Edited September 8, 2008 by Shortbus
chris82
3870, although I HIGHLY recommend you spring for a 4850. Although I have a 5000+ with 2GB of RAM and a 3870 and I can run Call of Duty 4 on all max settings at 1280x1024, you should have no problem. Shortbus
I run COD4 with no problems now even with everything on high. I get about 27 FPS on there with my current setup. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...p;searchbtn.y=0 Heres a big list of shit, my budget is $200 but I'd go for $220 if that extra $20 or so would make a difference, and I have no idea what to look for. Is #7 on the page, the Sapphire(The $225 one), the best one? I could do that one just fine. I've gotten a job a kroger, I can spend up to 200 on a graphics card now. chris82
Yes, it has 1GB of memory while the others only have 512mb. More video memory=more room for textures/models=frees up RAM and hard drive=faster loading.
Shortbus
That's the one I'm getting. Time to go apply at Kroger! Thanks Chris, you've been lots of help. One last thing and I won't bug this topic anymore! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817103941 Will this PSU suffice and if not what do you suggest/Could I get a cheaper one that is just as good? WRX22B1998
@jayman i dun think gta4 will work either :S ati 9200 isnt exactly high end or new and 512ram, well...no comment XD i doubt it'l work man. by the looks of it, your mobo is still AGP, so, basically you need a whole new computer ________________________________________________________________________________ @markanto hmmm, im not too sure, maybe you can run it on low or medium settings. not too sure about your video card though Edited September 14, 2008 by WRX22B1998

chris82
4870 is boss. That extra memory doesn't mean shit since it's only GDDR3. Plus that 4870 is at a good price, grab it when you can.
Shortbus
I just hope Dell doesn't fuck me again on my motherboard not supporting the correct stuff like it did with the CPU. They made it so I couldn't Use AMD's fan that came with my CPU, so I have to use their's. As of November 9th (Going to lay this graphics card + PSU on my birthday), my specifications will be: Windows XP SP2 3GB DDR2-667 RAM AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz Diamond Radeon 4870 512MB GDDR5 2 monitors, 17 in / 15 in, 1024x768 Could I run GTA4? MrLlamaLlama
When you use 2 monitors of different sizes, extended Desktop goes shit and ugly. The only thing you can do is have the smaller on magnify of the bigger one, and even that is a pain in the ass.
WRX22B1998
yeah thats what i was thinking, one being 17" and the other 15" you could do clone monitor, but...i dont understand the point...
