Alvas.
Well by first browser I don't mean if you used it for like 1-2 days. I mean a one in which you had trust and used it for like a month at least. If you choose other then please specify which by posting here. Even if you don't it would be better if you would post. I'll start.. IE6(Internet Explorer 6). Yeah I know that was shit but when I was new to the world of Internet. I thought it was the fast, most secure browser ! Weird ha but thats actually what I thought. Fire onnnn! Damjan
IE5. That browser is faster than any of the current now. DIT: Although i think this topic is a bit stupid since we all started off with IE5, it was the only thing that could access the net on Windows(Mac owners fuk u) Edited June 9, 2009 by Sтεαм. Chris
IE4. You think IE6 sucks, try IE4 or 5! I guess back then it didn't really matter about what it supported, since no web 2.0 sites were around, but still, security was a big issue.
Damjan
^ was the IE5 on the workstation windows OS?
Chris
IE5 was bundled with Windows 98 SE. So if you ever used that as your OS and were on the Internet back then, chances are you used it. Windows 2000 had IE 5.5 IIRC.
Damjan
I had 2000.Awsum, are there some of the older versions still around the net?
Chris
Probably, but by using them you're likely committing computer suicide unless you stick only to VERY safe website with NO advertising. Google, BBC perhaps.
LDoubleU
IE5 probably... Now i love FF3 though

JustADummy
Internet Explorer 4. Windows 95, and 3.5, used both. @Eaz: There was no IE1, nor IE2. Only a beta of IE was announced back in 3.11 for Workgroups. Edited June 9, 2009 by Spider-Vice
TM™
Internet Explorer 6. Bullshit browser. It's still being used, especially in my college, seriously, can't even make a transparent image look good. I'm on Firefox 3 now, which pretty much owns Internet Explorer all by itself.
Damjan
FF is too goddamn slow, even without addons and themes.
Chris
Well all the benchmarks show IE8 as the slowest modern browser, and it always had been. IE7 used to be the slowest, before that IE6 was. Despite the improvements made in IE8, the speed differences were pathetic compared to those seen in ALL the other browsers. Safari 4 and Firefox 3.5 (beta) currently own in terms of speed. Followed closely by Firefox 3 and Opera 9.6. IE is so far behind, I really cannot see why you're so pro-IE when it's proved by multiple sources it's easily not only the slowest, but also the least secure and least standards compliant. Damjan
Add on the IE7 the IE7Pro and you'll be fine. Although, i don't like 7 and 8, only 6 and 5 from the IE's. Why would you need security, get a good AV that blocks ads and shit(like Kaspersky)(not AVG)and you'll see the results, no popups on the home page.(or here or where ever) Edited June 9, 2009 by Sтεαм. Chris
So that you don't get viruses in the first place, dumbass. It's not just viruses anyway, it's things like session hijacking, cookie stealing, phishing detection and shit like that you should be more worried about. JustADummy
Really? What if someone I know hacked you and fucked your PC up? Would you change your mind? Also Steam, FF is slow because your PC may be shit.
Nate10
I started goofing around on the internet probably since 2001/2002 so whatever the current IE was back then.
Chris
IE6. Yes, it really is over 8 years old already. I don't like people who use 8 year old browsers that don't support standards or any modern technology and have little in the way of security or features in general. Huckleberry Pie
I first toiled around web pages (offline, to be exact) with IE4. I also did some stuff with IE5, too, although the first browser when I got my way into the internets is IE6, although I decided to switch after being pissed off at its security and performance issues.
