@Giedrius: Yeah you might be able to run it. 8500gt is sorta fail though, so you would be running it on really low res and low settings @Fuggedaboutit: from the look of that, you got a laptop. you will definitely be able to run it, but since 7900gs, in a laptop, i dunno the comparison to a desktop 7900. probably abit slower. you definitely should be able to run it. oh and about above whoever wrote about DX10 and vista (Davesta). DX10's increase gets canceled out by vista's resource hunger pretty much. And only geforce 8xxx or newer supports DX10. so yeah i would change back to XP.

ahhah, you know if you put a new video card it would easily pass. personally i dont use any of those, but yeah a lot of them are BS. I didnt think the 9500GT was that good, but i guess crysis might be ok on lower settings. meh beats intel integrated lol. although its cool that one of those uses 3Dmark, unlike 1 that just bases it upon the hardware info (what cpu/ram/gfx you got) which is stupid. i cannot run BF2 because my 1.66 core 2 isnt up to the 1.8ghz P4 minimum spec.

Well i guess nobody can say for sure. My friend had vista home premium x64, he is running most games fine (even san andreas), he just had some issues with drivers but once he had correct ones it was fine.

I think it would be possible if you edit main.scm, but keep in mind that means you have to make a new save file. check gtaforums.com, they have some good tutorials for stuff like that. google is always helpful too

im still not gonna use IE. lol. i have never come across this problem anyway. the fool proof 100% way is download the extension Downloadhelper, then go to the youtube site. download the video. download FLVPlayer, and play it. no lag, no pausing, no nothing.

yeh waiting is usually a good option, especially with a unreleased game like GTA4. then when you wait, you can save some $$ and you can upgrade your video card and CPU all at once then you will be able to play no probs

Well then i guess you should upgrade your cpu...you can upgrade your video card later, like after xmas or something i suppose. Just dont expect to run gta in any good looking settings, it will prob be like 800x600 low/med details, cos of that video card. according to a benchmark on toms hardware (quake 4 1280x1024) even a AMD 4600+ beats the phenom X3 you mentioned. however GTA4 might be more optimised for multicore than Quake 4 was. the other X2 you were thinking of (5600+) is way ahead of the phenom you listed which is a higher price too. But this could all change soon, because game dev. will optimise for multicore (we hope) so it can be used more effectively. If i were you, i would buy the X2 5600+ , you can always upgrade later if you really need to. according to their site they have only 3 left so better jump on it
