You may remember a few months ago we started a new member group here called 'Veterans'. In it were true veterans of the forum, as well as members who had contributed a lot over their time here, as well as showing a decent level of maturity. There were a few problems with this though, mainly the factual inaccuracy in calling the group 'veterans', when clearly it contained members who weren't vets. This group has now been renamed and revamped, and will now be known across the forums as the Elite Members. The elite members group contains hand-picked members, including true veterans of the forum. The veterans are members who I either knew before these forums were started, or those who joined within the first few weeks of our existence (the only active vet left now is Spaz). Other members making up the elite are chosen because: They show a decent level of maturity around the forums They contribute a lot (this doesn't mean just having a high post count, but making sure many of their posts are useful, funny and/or informative They have been here for at least a year Rhe elite members group also contains all the staff (including forum moderators, super mods, and admins), and they get similar or sometimes slightly better privileges depending on their position. You can sort the members list to see who is in the group - bear in mind the staff aren't actually shown in this group listing. So what sort of privileges do the elite members get I hear you ask. Well, they get: Increased PM Storage Increased post attachment storage Ability to delete their own topics/posts Ability to remove the 'Edited by' line when editing a post Ability to avoid flood control on searching and posting Can change display name twice per month instead of just once Access to the Elite Members forum - which contains a more mature level of discussion and topics of a more sensitive nature (stuff that'll burn your eyes) That's about it! I'd finally like to congratulate all the members who have earned the elite member status, and hope that everyone who wasn't chosen, or is currently ineligible, will aspire to be in this privileged and respected group. The elite members are the next step up to becoming staff, and it is likely that new forum moderators will be chosen from this group, you may well be seeing some new mods very soon. Gamespot have finally posted their review of Vice City Stories, and are probably the last of the big gaming sites to do so. They gave the game a final score of 8.4 / 10, a respectable score for any portable game. I just did this mission on my second go, I assume you're stuck on the second bit where you're out of the car and shooting the gang members. I killed a few then ran around and got a car, and ran over or did a drive by on the remaining members, and Lance is a pain in the ass to get in your car without a cop getting to you first, I managed to run over a cop and had enough time for Lance to get in, driving back to his hotel is pretty easy, although I had a blown out tire and cops kept crashing into me...

Yeah, VCS still pwns all other PSP games in existence. Just the bugs lessen the uber experience.

I've been playing Vice City Stories for 27 minutes according to my stats, and have already found 3 bugs. Let us know what bugs you've found. I mean I'm pretty disappointed I've found all these in less than half an hour of play... Takes about 10 seconds after driving a vehicle to hear the engine noise - not all the time, but it's still annoying when it happens When turning in some vehicles, no matter how gently, you always hear skidding noises, as if you were pulling the handbrake Vehicles you store in your garage in Viceport randomly disappear sometimes

Today Vice City Stories is officially out in Europe, although some people have been getting their hands on the game early. I now have a copy myself which means I can start getting a lot more content up on the site. The first page I've made is currently the only page on the web right now where you'll find the complete playlists for each radio station in Vice City Stories, and includes the logos of each station. UK gaming site Eurogamer have put up their review of Vice City Stories today, just one day before the game's official release in the country. They pretty much talk about the same things as in reviews we've seen from other websites, and also pick up on the same flaws they've found in the game. In conclusion they deduce that Vice City Stories is still one of the best games on the PSP right now. Eurogamer gave the game a final rating of 8 / 10, an excellent score any game developer should be proud of, especially when we consider this is a handheld game. He claims it took him 20 minutes. A couple of years ago he took some pics of his set up for finding PS2 cheats for San Andreas, he had wired up a controller through some sort of computer. No idea how any of it worked though, nor do I know how he does it for PSP and PC games.

It's Halloween today, also known as October 31st, which means Vice City Stories has been officially released across North America. Some people in other countries have already received their copies of the game, and thanks to exploits made possible through various homebrew applications, are already taking digital screenshots and sharing them in forums - these show you exactly how the game will look on your PSP. In other news, Rockstar have made a minor update to the official site by way of a link to Urge where over 80 songs from the soundtrack can be downloaded. Urge of course have exclusivity rights lasting until mid-November, at which time iTunes will also have the songs to download. Looking at other pages on the site, it's probable there will be one final update (occurring in mid-November) to obviously add the link to iTunes, but also to update the downloads page which still says "More coming soon", presumably this means more wallpapers and such like are on the way. If you're playing Vice City Stories and want to tell everyone how great it is, or if you need help with missions for example, head on down to our forums where you'll find plenty of people willing to help you on your escapades through the city of Vice, and who can provide answers to many of your questions.

IGN have finally posted their review of Vice City Stories, giving the game 9 / 10. Of the negative points talked about in the review, all are ones mentioned by other websites. The hand to hand combat, weapon aiming, poor AI, lackluster missions etc. We've heard it all before, thankfully the review is a lot more positive and a lot more in depth (3 pages) than the other reviews we've seen. Being a Grand Theft Auto game itself actually brings up the review score according to IGN, though this is coupled with the inherent humour and excellent replayability. The overall fun factor now with the addition of helicopters and more vehicles, is another excellent trait of the game. Again there are a few new screens included in the review. Gamepro have posted their review of Vice City Stories. Yet again we see another negative start, followed by only a few positive points. It seems that VCS may not be living up to that hype after all. Gamepro gave the game a fun factor of 3.75 / 5, in comparison to the infamous GamesRadar article this is equivalent to 7.5 / 10. The review, which is very short it has to be said, is essentially two paragraphs of negatives and two paragraphs of positives. A lack of personality and boring characters are said to be two of the disappointments, in addition to Rockstar failing to stamp out the bugs that are still evident in the series after all these years, including poor AI and weapon aiming. The awesome soundtrack makes up for all the bad points apparently, as well as a myriad of new side missions and tons of new vehicles. There's been a lot of speculation as to whether Vice City Stories will require the latest firmware updates from Sony, and we can now confirm that it will require at least version 2.81, the latest currently available being 2.82. Vice City Stories seems to be getting into more and more players hands now, despite the fact we haven't reached the official release dates, as many retailers are choosing to bend the rules and distribute copies of the game earlier than they're supposed to. Some quick facts we can now clear up about the game: Firmware 2.81 is required Riding a bicycle is virtually the same as in San Andreas. Vic can swim for approximately 1 minute before drowning You start the game on the second island The map looks almost identical to how it was in Vice City You can buy safehouses Big planes aren't flyable, however the Dodo and Skimmer are Unless homebrew is more important to you, you may want to update your PSP right now, so as to avoid the annoying wait to download and install the firmware before you get to play VCS.
